Who: Sanji, Nami, Zoro, and probably the rest of the SH crew at some point.
What: Mallynaps Suck
When: February 2nd, probably some time in the evening.
Where: The foot of the mountains. House 6 later.
Summary: Nami and Sanji are kinda chibified. And stranded in the mountains. Luckily, a certain swordsman with a wonderful sense of direction is there to take them home. >_>
Rating: PG-13 if you include Sanji's mouth. He started early.

[Let's do this thang.

WILD CHARGE... except not really. Sanji has learned his lesson, and tries something that might actually resemble planning. He darts for Zoro's right, hoping to side-kick the man in the waist with his left foot - or wherever his legs can reach]

[Smart but not smart enough. Zoro blocks it easily, pushing out against the kick. He had decided not to actively attack Sanji but he couldn't help feinting a punch. It was slow and obvious and meant to miss.

But Sanji doesn't need to know that. >_>]

[Seeing as someone was left out of the loop, Sanji reacts like any normal person would by actively trying not to get hit. In fact, he acts... too much like a normal person, both side-stepping and raising his arms to defend himself.

It's an automatic reaction. He knows he's supposed to focus on his legs for defense and offense, but Zeff hasn't beaten the concept into him yet. His already fragile footing wavers until he's forced to compensate by sliding along the ground on his hands and knees, scrambling back into an offensive position.

~_~ How do you beat a guy who is bigger, stronger, and faster than you, again? He'll attack in a second, Zoro, Sanji is just trying to find a loophole here >>]

[Impossible Expectations Nakama a.k.a. Zoro pulls his punch at the last second, somehow managing a smooth transition from gonna punch yer lights out to yeah, I've been standing here all day, what about it? He doesn't actually want to hurt the kid and punching into his defense would probably count as damage.

He huffs an impatient sigh as he looks at Sanji. Waiting.] Don't tell me you're giving up already.

Like hell! [What a stupid comment. He's just treating Zoro with more finesse than he deserves.

... Oh hey. There's an idea.

The scowl is replaced by a wild grin as Sanji... charges. Again. Straight on. The boy knows there is a good chance he'll just get his ass handed to him again, but no pain, no gain. Let's do this, punk.]

[What are you up to, brat? But Zoro's ready for anything. Come on, let's see what you're capable of, crap cook.]

[What Sanji does depends largely on Zoro's movements. If he stands there like a brick wall without attacking, there won't be anything special save the usual flair and kick - a little more directed and quick, attacks varying to different body parts - but really, just a whole lot of physical wailing until Zoro makes any attempts to strike back]

[And Zoro catches on to this after a while. Not one to resist upping the ante, he readies himself to attack. Let's see what you've got in store for him, Sanji.

He waits until Sanji aims a kick at his left flank. Blocking the attack with a downward stroke of his arm-- push the leg, compensate, and-- he strikes out with his palm at the same time. It's faster than the earlier punch but he makes an effort to put much less power behind it.]

[Shit. Faster than he expected it to be. But still, there it is.

Unfortunately, having his kick blocked in such a way that he's forced to compensate for the shift in weight means the boy can't dodge with any efficiency. Either he jumps out of the way or he gets hit.

There's no contest as to which he picks. Sanji gets a palm in the gut, but grits his teeth like a man and uses that arm the way it was intended to be: a jumping beam.

That's right. His grip is tight enough on the arm so he doesn't go flying, and with a solid kick off the ground, lifts himself into a calculated, cartwheel-esque flip. The real plan? Let gravity take over so he can kick that stupid green hair]

[If Zoro had less experience with Sanji's fighting style, that attack would have taken him completely by surprise. His palm strike connecting had jarred him a little (crap, he hadn't intended to hit that hard) so he jerks when he realizes what Sanji intended to do with it.

He lets instinct take over, arm coming up to block the leg inches before it makes contact. If Sanji doesn't move quick, Zoro's going to grab him by the leg and collar. Pinning the boy to the forest floor sounded like the best option right now.]

[Damn it. Failing had not been a part of the plan; Sanji knows the moment Zoro grabs him, it's another game over. With nothing left to count on, he lets panic overtake him and loosens his grip on Zoro's arm --

Which, coincidentally, means gravity is in charge again. No support equals a tumble to the ground before Zoro is able to catch his leg, but it also leads to landing awkwardly and painfully on his right shoulder. That time he can't help but squeak.

He doesn't stop though, more out of mindless nerves than actually knowing what the swordsman might be up to. Sanji landed awkwardly, but he's still in a decent position for a leg sweep. The marimo might wanna jump]

[Ultimately, it's the squeak that gets him. Stuck warring with his instinct to both protect and kill the little shit, Sanji's fall caused Zoro to lose focus for a moment. The rhythm of their fight had changed and Zoro's concern had caused him to miss the shift.

Seeing Sanji's leg come sweeping toward him, he moved quickly, but the momentary lapse meant he was a split second behind. He cursed, diving and rolling away, but it was too late. The boy's sweep connected.

[It's okay, Zoro. The chibi is as surprised as you are when his foot connects with something. He warily peeks open an eye that had stayed screwed shut after his collision with ground, and takes in the expression on Zoro's face.]

I got you! [There's an intermingling of pride and awe in Sanji's voice, like he can hardly believe he toppled this green-haired beast, and the boy leaps to his feet, pumping his fists wildly in the air]

Ha, what did I--

Okay, new rule. No more fist pumping. It hurts like hell to move his entire right arm, which has the bad manners to go numb during his moment of triumph. Sanji decides he needs a second to turn around and nervously check the limb for damage.

But even still - worth it.]

[Perona must've gotten out of her cage again because Zoro's life doesn't feel like it's worth living right now. Oh, god, is that his soul escaping from his mouth, swirling up higher and higher into the heavens so that it can finally pull free from the torment of his earthly life and...]

[Sob. Oh never mind. Zoro's just gonna. Sit here with his head in his hands for a bit.]

[But-- hey, you know what? Even through the thick swirling fog of his depression, Zoro could see that Sanji was in pain. He allows himself one last moment of self-pity before scrubbing a hand over his face and breathing out deeply.

What's done is done.

He solemnly crouches down next to Sanji and gently takes the boy's right arm in hand.] Don't. [He holds it still, his other hand coming up to close around Sanji's upper arm.] Does this hurt?

[Yes, it does hurt. Sanji won't jerk his hand or arm away, but he shifts nervously when Zoro touches him. No offense, sir, but you don't seem to be the qualified doctor type. He can't know just how important Sanji's arms and hands are to him, either]

... A little. [His arm stiffens, in any case. Sanji's more focused on his fingers though, making sure he can move each and every last one of them. Each effort is met with a sharp pain, but they do move, and so he releases a relieved sigh]

[He knows Chopper's around but contacting the little reindeer might be difficult without his journal (it's sitting on the couch back at the house; Zoro hadn't thought to bring it when he took off after Sanji.) Thinking hard, he tries to keep the arm as still as possible.]

Can you bend your elbow?

[He tries, face steadily dissolving into a wince. By the time his elbow is bent completely, Sanji hastily straightens it back out again]

... Yeah, I can. [It's not a lie. He starts tugging at his arm in a clear "Lemme go" fashion.] It's fine; it still works.

[There's a moment of helplessness as Zoro releases the arm back into Sanji's custody. He's not sure what to do now, maybe try to get the boy to Chopper if he'll let him, but he doesn't really have much of a plan for it. The second of indecision irritates him, and he decides to go with the direct approach.] Come on, let's head back to the house.
