Summary: Following a chat with Shikamaru and a day's wait, Masaomi summoned Gold and him to talk about something.

[Masaomi shows up probably with Shikamaru to the barracks. He doesn't have his yellow scarf on, but he has a very grim expression. Shikamaru poked it out of him, yes, but he'd been considering it for a while. Pushing denial up with his drama with Katara. But... no. He ought to let his comrades know what's up. And here we are got it. he has a flashlight this time at least]

That much I remember. [He opens one hand, a silent gesture of let me see it? and continues.]

I thought things like that weren't supposed to work in Luceti, though. But the closest thing we have to something like that where I'm from is radios, so if you know something I don't...

There's no towers here, but... [He walks over closer to Shikamaru to give him a better look at the device.]

These things can communicate directly with one another. That's probably how he's doin' it.

[He nods a thanks to Gold and begins inspecting it. So it's like a radio and a little computer rolled into one, huh?]

Just other phones in general? Or can it only work with some?

[He's assuming it's not just a matter of the phones being suddenly functional after all. Everyone in Luceti who has one would be using it over the journals in that case, he thinks.]

I don't think the really old models can do it. Besides that, you need to be near the person to connect directly with their phone.

[...] Come to think of it, I think I know what he's talking about. There's a way to submit something to everyone in a general area and keep direct contact like that within ... not that far. Maybe a few hundred meters at most.

That shoots down one idea... [Which is fine, he has more than that where that came from.]

And on top of that, it has to have that specific feature. [Making sure he got that right.] Think it's something that can be requested from the Malnosso?

Dunno. You two probably know more about that department than I do. [He's never gone on a mission.]

I don't see why not... I mean, it's just a matter of if they consider that small or medium.

That shouldn't be a problem. [The only missions he's signed up for work at about the medium level anyways.]

If we got another one of those phones, either through them or someone else, we'd be in a good place if Mikado starts sending out messages again. We'd have a second way to monitor things - especially if we acted as someone else accepting the offer to join.

Yeah... Good idea. I didn't tell him who I was, but I told him I wasn't interested in his group, so he might cut me off from communications.

[The idea makes him somewhat uncomfortable - it shows on his face - but he nods. It does make sense.]

I'll see what I can do about that, in that case. It may take some time. [A glance at Masaomi - if you change your mind - and then he offers Gold's phone back to him.]

If you want us to stick to monitoring things for the time being, that's what I have for now.

Yeah. Until then... [He takes the phone back, snapping it back into its place on his sleeve.] ...I'll keep an eye out for what Mikado does.

Yeah... [...] As for other people from home, I didn't realize this until the other day, but have any of you met Mairu-chan? She's Izaya's sister. [A very short but uncomfortable pause] She claims to hate him though.

Never met, no. The name sounds familiar.

[He keeps tabs on a lot of things over the journals, some more thoroughly than others - and some less.]

Can't say I have. [Nonetheless, Gold scowls a bit when Masaomi says Izaya's name.]

Well she is. I've got no idea if she's in Dollars or not... actually, in theory, anyone from my world could be.

[For a brief moment, he considers. What if shizuo- Actually wasn't Shizuo involved with that one meet up?]

[That gets him wondering about something again.]

How many people have you actually met from your world here, by the way?

[Geez, now that's messed up. Anybody you know could be one of them. Regardless, he waits for Masaomi's answer.]

For sure though- Well... Celty-san and Anri-chan used to be here, as did Saki, of course. Shizuo-san, Izaya... used to be here. Tom-san? I think I've heard him on the books - he's this guy who hangs with Shizuo, I think he'd his boss. Mairu-chan, who I mentioned, Aoba-kun, Karisawa-san... [Listing on his fingers. Who else...] there might be more I haven't met ye-- Oh! Oh! Celty's special pervert friend, Shinra-san. I think he's here now but somehow I've not run into him.

Plus Mikado, of course.

[Snort at the mention of Shinra.] Pervert. Yeah, that sounds right. I talked to that guy once. He was weird.

[Of the ones mentioned that are still around, that's the only one though.]

If any of them are among Dollars, chances are they might spread the word. [So it'd be a good point to branch from.]

[Gold's met a good portion of them... Celty, Anri... Saki, Shizuo... He'd heard of Izaya enough to hate him anyway... ...And Aoba.]

...Say, Masaomi, what're the chances that Aoba's involved in Dollars or Blue Squares? He seems awfully chummy with Mikado, after all. [Plus, those masks...]
