Let's get ready to rumble, boys and girls! A few quick notes:

Double check the fight roster--I moved some things around, namely matching up Firo with Homura since their respective opponents weren't able to participate. Let me know if something is amiss!

Characters who are fighting will be told their opponent's name upon arrival, and fights will proceed in the order they appear on the roster up there. Let me know if you need to be moved around for whatever reason!

Tony and Shikamaru will be policing the fights for any funny business, but fights will end when one of the participants forfeits or gets knocked out cold. So your character can get bloodied, bludgeoned, and broken and keep going if they wish! Remember, there's no magic since this is in the tunnels, and there are no weapons allowed in the fights. Just your fists, elbows, et cetera.

And should they have some owwies that need attention, Adele, Katara, Luca and Ange will be on hand to provide medical assistance. What troopers.

Spectators can interact however and whenever they want, so feel free to start a new thread for your character who is watching!

[...ha. It would figure, that he'd be up against him.

He has a few other people to talk with before he makes his way over to Masaomi, before the first match begins. His hands are in his pockets, and he doesn't say anything as he approaches, but he makes sure he's directly in his line of sight.]

That overwhelms his thought as he sort of avoids looking at Shikamaru. It's actually a very belated thing when his thoughts pull into something else. But when it does-]

[It's a thoughtful tone, which is very, very distant from any sort of emotion. He's considering how he should react, what he should be feeling right now]

Yo. [Masaomi's not doing the talking here, so he guesses he'll have to do it for him if he wants to have a semi-normal conversation with him before their match.]

It's gonna be a long wait, huh? How troublesome... I should've brought a Mountain Dew or something.

[In contrast, he talks the same as he usually would, like they would if they were just hanging out and not about to have to kick the tar out of one another.]

-This is a fight.

[He's not taking the offer to be jovial. His mind can't afford it right now]

Mm. [At least he has an idea of his mindset now. It's going to be that way for a while to, isn't it.]

It is. Doesn't change the waiting time, though.

[No less relaxed in his posture, but he's made the transition into talking like he's taking things seriously, all the same.]

No, I suppose not.

[A beat] Shikamaru, do you regret this?

[After all, Katara yelled at them when she found out they were signed up Shira told me this happened]

No.

[He doesn't even need a second to think about that, either. Katara's opinion matters a lot to him, and he doesn't like having to fight his friend. But coming here. Going through with it. That's another story. I need to do this.]

Do you? [Because up until they got here, Masaomi seemed pretty okay with it too.]

I'd been looking forward to it.

[Being strong. Maybe even winning]

Don't let having to fight me change that.

Heh. [His hands have become fists in his pockets, somehow. If he took them out, the knuckles would be white. He looks away to watch as someone else comes into the tunnels, but tilts his head in Masaomi's direction.]

If you're not willing to fight me like you would anyone else if the matches were different, our fight is pointless.

[He speaks those words slowly, more repeating them than agreeing with him. He's thinking back - not for the first time since they got here - about what Katara told him nearly a year ago about Masaomi, before their first draft. About the spar where he went blank and how he was like that sometimes, out there on the battlefield.]

[endgames]

Anything goes, so long as we're both willing to take it. [His head snaps back around now though, making sure to meet Masaomi's eyes no matter how crazed it might be. He wants his next point made clear.] But when it's time to stop, we stop.

[You stop.]

[That expression is met with this one. The crazy fades into this sort of deadened look. Hah. Like he needs to be told that. He nods]

I don't really want to die, Shikamaru-kun.

[endgames]

Aa.... that's not my point.

[But in this moment, he wouldn't accept it even if Shikamaru made it clear anyways. His face remains serious, but he doesn't offer any more than that. He just hopes Masaomi remembers this.]

Mm. I know.

[No, no he doesn't. But... he'll try]

[Things are starting to get moving ahead of them - he can see Tony and Kotetsu stepping apart from the crowd now.]

That's my cue. [And looking back at Masaomi, his expression softens momentarily. He gives him a clap on the shoulder, then walks forward and away.] Later.
