Let's get ready to rumble, boys and girls! A few quick notes:

Double check the fight roster--I moved some things around, namely matching up Firo with Homura since their respective opponents weren't able to participate. Let me know if something is amiss!

Characters who are fighting will be told their opponent's name upon arrival, and fights will proceed in the order they appear on the roster up there. Let me know if you need to be moved around for whatever reason!

Tony and Shikamaru will be policing the fights for any funny business, but fights will end when one of the participants forfeits or gets knocked out cold. So your character can get bloodied, bludgeoned, and broken and keep going if they wish! Remember, there's no magic since this is in the tunnels, and there are no weapons allowed in the fights. Just your fists, elbows, et cetera.

And should they have some owwies that need attention, Adele, Katara, Luca and Ange will be on hand to provide medical assistance. What troopers.

Spectators can interact however and whenever they want, so feel free to start a new thread for your character who is watching!

[It took a second to come out of that one-armed handstand. First thing he does is try to find a new position while Masaomi is disoriented for a half-second to attack from.

Turns out he would've been better off staying right where he was at. Masaomi - smartly, he'll think in a minute - didn't attack just that last spot. He covered all of his bases, and faster than he was prepared for. There's enough time to reposition himself to cover more vital areas, but not all of them.

His right side is open, and that's where the kick connects and pushes him back.

Something - somethings? - gives with an audible crunch and then he's crouched over trying not to fall over.] ...shit.

[He connected-? His leg shoots down after the connection to plant himself and he twists around to see the results, his fists also going up to be ready to attack or defend-- this blood leaking into his eye is really problematic though, so he closes that one eye for a moment.

The crunch settles into him late. What-]

[No attack from him. He's still working on the idea of standing up straight again.

The slow recovery might get attributed to pain (and there's that too), but right now he's assessing himself. Trying to figure out what movement he can get away with in how ever many seconds he has-

[Because Masaomi is freaking out. When he sees Shikamaru in pain there, his eyes go wide. A little smile creeps on his face too. he hit him

It connected. It connected and he actually hit Shikamaru. It actually hurt him.

[It's too much time. When nothing happens still, Shikamaru lifts his head. Masaomi's legs and arms were the only important thing to keep in his field of vision while he was hunched over like he is, but now he needs to see his face. Suspects the answer will be there...

That face. He bets he's impressed with himself. It's better than that dead look, but if this were a draft he'd be dead just standing around like that. He could've taken him out and finished this in the time he's spent grinning like an idiot.]

Oi, dumbass...

[One second he's still pulling himself up, and the next he's closing the distance between them with a fist aimed for his jaw.]

[Masaomi takes that one, dazing him for a moment. So he wasn't down, of course- of course the ninja wouldn't go down just like that. But he definitely, definitely heard a snap, or a crunch, or something that means that his foe is gravely injured]

[So he rides out that punch just long enough to pull his knee up into Shikamaru's gut - or so he hops, if the guy lingers in that jaw any longer than he needed to. Even if he doesn't, Masaomi's using that same momentum to lurch forward and try to administer his own jab. He can't let the distance come back, even if he's starting to get a splitting headache, might have had his jaw jammed a bit, and he's bleeding]

[endgames]

[He's not moving as fast as he was at the start of the match. If he didn't have his arm up to guard his already beaten ribs, he'd have taken the full brunt of that knee. As it is though, Masaomi is still stronger than he is so the good it does for him is minimal.

He grunts with it and curls forwards, but doesn't lose momentum. It offers him a little more protection, even if it's a tell (he's breathing heavier now, so it's already obvious), and he's more concerned about striking back faster.

Shikamaru brings his leg around for a stomp to his opponent's shin; might turn it into a hook to knock him over if he can. At the same time, he'll shoot for a hard elbow to Masaomi's sternum in hopes one of the two hits.]

[Masaomi might be in the habit of taking blows, but he's not in the habit of taking unnecessary ones. He snarls a bit, lurching his foot back (giving him awkward footing) to avoid the shin-stomp while forcing his upper body forward. The result is he takes the hit from the elbow, albeit he tries to soften it a bit with his own arm. Now what- headbutt? No he's bleeding already.

Jab. Jab Jab twice in quick succession with the free arm]

[endgames]

[Likewise, Shikamaru's not going to take the second jab if he can help it, reaching out to grab that arm if he can. If it works, he'll turn out of the way and pull to try and toss him forward.]

[Wha- no. He's going to try to pull right back, not letting himself be grappled]

[This isn't going to turn into a game of tug-of-war. Soon as it's clear that plan failed, Shikamaru lets go and (still turned) tries another tactic. Spinning back kick for his gut.]

[that slips him back but- no, okay if he's going to kick there, Masaomi, sensing that, is going to quickly lurch back into the ground, going low to evade it. He can spring back up on a dime, so it should be no problem, right?]

[endgames]

[Open air. He can't be far from where his foot is centered though - Shikamaru considers bringing his leg down hard as he straightens but no. Bad idea. If Masaomi is there he can just catch it. Might've been worth the risk if it weren't for his ribs, but they're already suffering with the last move he did. Better off using that second to bring his leg back and get right back on the defensive.]

[Even with the blows he's taken so far, Masaomi's core strength is ridiculous, give he's apparently able to spring back up from being knocked by a crumbling blow. As he does here. and once back up, he's going for alternating set of punches again. Shikamaru dodged this sort of assault easily before, but]

[But he's slowing down and he knows it. He dodges the first, takes the second across the nose which immediately starts to bleed (doesn't help with the dizziness he's feeling either), and thinks screw it before even trying to dodge the rest. He moves as if he will, but then drops down for a leg sweep.

...even if it works - follow up with a chop if it does) - he probably won't be getting back up from that. He's just getting in as many hits as he can before he's done and he knows it, making the expression on his face a little out of place.]

[Masaomi, meanwhile, is falling into the anger. He's so pleased to have gotten in that second punch and pleased even more when it looks like he's going to get in the third. As it is, he is distracted from Shikamaru's trip. That makes him stumble some and the chop connects too. For any normal teenager, that might have given him more pause than it does (though he will be feeling both later.

But he was winning - winning. He grits his teeth and in some impossibly movement (to anyone who wasn't as resilient and strong as him) he springs back up to a properly standing position to try to stomp Shikamaru.

[endgames]

[He's wiping some of the blood from his nose when he sees what Masaomi is doing there - sees how pissed he's getting. Shikamaru observes with lazy interest.]

Hey. [His voice is calm, albeit nasal. That foot is going to come down in a second, and he's eying it like he about expects it to.] I'm done.

[He won't move. He can't.

What happens next happens.]

[Masaomi's control isn't totally perfect.

Unless someone like Tony or Katara or something steps in Despite his eyes widening with recognition he's really not going to be able to stop his foot entirely in time. Reflex is a stronger impulse to him right now than the fact that Shikamaru and Katara both told him to stop. What he does do is when he realizes what he's doing he tries to shift his aim, not going for the chest again, not the face-

If it lands down it'll instead either be on the ground or possibly on something else very close to where his friend is. And when he does stop, he's breathing heavily. Still in shock because he just-

[Blinks. Blinks again. There's the smack of his shoe hitting something, but no agony to follow it so... he's good then. He's good. They're done.

Masaomi pulled it off.

It hurts to move; it hurts to breathe. It hurts to think about just how far he has to go to get to where he wants to be. It hurts and he knew it would; knew this too and he's proud.
