Movie Marathon!

Who: Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Arsene Lupin III, Ami Mizuno, Adele Leblanc, Leonardo, Gambit, and anyone else who has the desire to show up.
What: Star Wars Movie Marathon
When: February 21st to whenever its done
Where: Luke and Ben's place
Summary: Luke and Ben have decided to just end the constant cycle of confusion and actually WATCH the Star Wars movies. There is soda (gasp!) popcorn, canned tea, and all sorts of other movie related nonsense.
Rating: PG, same as the movies (Could get PG13? doubtful)

[Obi-Wan glances at her, then glances at the screen. He sighs, and makes a little gesture. Go ahead, get it out of your system.]

I WAS AT WORK AND COULDN'T! ALSO DIDN'T KNOW IF YOU WERE DONE WITH THE LAST THREAD!

...Ben. [Soft. Flat. Utterly devoid of any emotion.] What. What did. What did you do to your hair?

[She said it, and she broke, burying her face in her hands to muffle soft, helpless giggles.]

BAH. EXCUSES.

[Anakin had at least respected him enough never to comment. At the time. Ah, well.]

"I had tried, at various points throughout my young adulthood, to grow my hair longer in honor of Qui-Gon. Since the result typically turned out, well, thus-"

[He nods to the screen]

"I began wearing my hair like this instead."

I-I-I think- [And here is the return of the hiccups. Adele presses a hand against her mouth, tries to even her breathing, and grins up at Ben.]

I think his hair was a b-bit [Hiccup.] More fine than yours Ben. [As she was, with anyone else she would've gestured to the hair in question. Instead she reaches up and gives a lock on the side a tug before dropping her hand.] So it r-really [Hic-hiccup-hic.] Wouldn't have worked.

"I came to that conclusion myself, in fact."

[He knew that, Adele, he was there. He looks at her with some concern as she begins hiccuping, a single eyebrow arched.]

Though it is a-almost charming. [Hiccup. Hiccup. Hic.] G-give me a moment.

[A deep breath, another half hiccup, a quick frown, and she wills them away. Not something she can always do when not under pressure, but it's a movie, she should be quiet, etc.]

[Satisfied that she was feeling better, he turned to watch the movie and-

...and Anakin was talking to Padme.

No, Anakin was flirting on Padme, or at least he seemed to believe he was. Clearly when he had asked if she was an angel, he'd exhausted his best line.]

[This was. Awkward. And uncomfortable. And she was just watching with know real connection to either party involved.]

This is...I never thought I'd hear lines worse than what Robert attempted when we first met. But these. These are terrible.

[Luke does NOT deign to comment on Obi-Wan's hair. He'd seen FAR worse come from the likes of Corran and Kyle, but when he hears his oldest friend making jokes about his father's feeble attempts to...flirt...with his mother he cannot help but break out in laughter]

Did...he...really say that? He's about as subtle as a Gundark...its a wonder I was born at all...

"A trait I'm well aware he kept even when I knew him. But my mother...Padme...she seems quite far above him. How did that happen?"

Under normal circumstance a young man's attempts at wooing a woman are a...[A sideways glance at Ben.] a. Hm. An emulation of their male role models. As he spent most of his time training under you, one could think...

"The Jedi Council does not typically create what most would consider 'normal circumstances.'"

True enough. And as attachments are not recommended, or encouraged, it would leave him without any real behavior to emulate successfully. Unless, of course, you made it a habit of wooing women around him.

[This is not a smirk. Not at all. She is utterly innocent.]

"That, I can assure you, I did not do."

[And he turns back to the movie. He appears to have just missed them kissing.

Small favors.

A good portion of the movie is rather uneventful, until Anakin and Padme go to Tatooine, to... rescue his mother. That makes him uneasy, as if he can feel a revelation about to occur but it hasn't quite hit him yet.

His own scenes do not particularly interest him- he knows all of this, after all- but then it goes back to Anakin. Tracking down the Sand People. Finding his mother.

Watching her die.

Obi-Wan shakes his head slightly, as if he could somehow dissuade Anakin from doing what Obi-Wan now realized he was about to do.]

[Luke remains quiet on this matter. The Old Jedi Council's views on love and attachment he did not share, and he felt that Obi-Wan would probably most vociferously disagree, something he did not feel would be good for the atmosphere they were trying to build.

His attention turns back to the film, and his father's rather dark scene. Clearly, this was where his fall to the Dark Side had begun. That moment of pure hate that exploded in so many Jedi. Even he had been there before. But that didn't make this scene any less saddening]

Did...you know about this event, Ben?

[The very last thing Adele ever expected to come away with this night was a sudden, strange sort of empathy for Anakin. His grief, his pain, his rage...had she not just come away from something terribly similar, albeit with different justifications and less skill in slaughter? The Sandpeople, Unger and his men. Anakin had lost his mother and She'd, well. Her father, her future, the lives of god only knew how many children. For a heartbeat she's right back in that hallway, going over what she'd done.

Could she have not shot out knees, rather than aim for the chest? Disarmed and disabled rather than killed? Fought to defend rather than to maim? She blinks away the beginnings of frustrated tears and instead focuses on the movie.

Her nightmare was over. She hadn't survived. And right now? She was almost grateful for it.]

[He spares a concerned glance toward Adele before he responds to Luke.]

"No... he had never mentioned it to me. I had felt a great deal of rage and confusion following these events, but... he had been through so many trials during this battle, I had believed that to be the cause."

[I never thought he would keep anything like this from me.

Then again, I never thought he would do anything like this.]

"I...see. I suppose that would make sense. Though, as...awkward and...loudmouthed as my father seems to be, one would think he'd mention something."

[He, too, spares Adele a glance. He was beginning to think it was not Ben he needed to worry about...]
