Brave New World
Who: Link (Skyward Sword) and YOU!
What: Newfeather time~
Where: Right smack in the middle of everything.
When: March 5th, midafternoon
Summary: Apparently going to bed is dangerous business and you might wake up somewhere completely random!
Rating: T tops, probably.
The sun glaring on the back of his eyelids wasn't a way that Link particularly enjoyed waking up but he was quite used to it by now. Work had to be done. There was still the rest of the house to build and food to gather and later Ledd was going to help him dig a field so they could grow pumpkins and the like. And of course there was Zelda's answer to look forward to...
Link supposed he shouldn't have sprung his confession on her, but he'd been fit to burst ever since their journey ended and they'd started about the task of getting settled on the surface; he just couldn't keep it to himself anymore! He knew he shouldn't pressure her, not after all she'd been through, but he couldn't help but be anxious.
With a sigh, the hero opened his eyes, expecting to see hasty, rough walls and the sun rudely streaming in on his face but was instead startled into sitting up by the sight of several buildings, strange plants, and people. He let out a cry of surprise and dismay, pushing himself to his feet and whirling around, finding nothing familiar in his surroundings and more worrying, not finding Zelda either.

Hopping to his feet, he hurries to a corner, lifting up an... extremely familiar sword.

Zelda's excitement is probably not noticed by Sky when Time takes out the Master Sword.

He snaps his gaze up to Time, a sudden fierce and knightly expression overtaking his face. "Why isn't she still in the Sealed Grounds? She's supposed to be resting!"

She can't imagine that one Link is about to be seriously violent with another, so she doesn't get up to stop the little confrontation.

He raises his face to again meet Time's eyes, much calmer and somehow more centered, straight-backed in a posture that unconsciously portrays a man of experience. His next question is not a demand, it's a simple request, but his calm tone belies an undercurrent of strength. "Why do you need to wield the Master Sword?"
no subject
He recalled a prickle of company, a sense of not being entirely alone in dark nights. Had that been her?
"There was a man in Hyrule," he starts hesitantly, glancing at Zelda for confirmation, "Who wanted the Triforce. I had to take the Master Sword to stop him." He exhales, then softly admits, "He still got a piece of it, and the Master Sword made me sleep for seven years until I was old enough to use it. I was nearly eleven when I first drew it. But we still stopped him."
If Sky looks closely at Time's hand, he'd be able to see the faint impression of the Triforce, the piece designating Courage just that little bit brighter.
no subject
"Ganondorf now holds the Triforce of Power. I hold Wisdom, and Link holds Courage. Thankfully, Ganondorf is no longer present in Luceti so we do not have to worry about him trying to unite the Triforce while we are here."
no subject
"...This is getting ridiculous."
Sky -> Time -> Zelda -> Sheik?
He was about to ask how it had come to be split when the Sheikah enters the room and he blinks with a modicrom of recognition at the coloring and eye insignia.
"You're a Sheikah..."
Works for me!
Huh. Had the other Link met Sheikah in his time?
no subject
As far as Zelda is concerned, there's never too much Link. They're all just so cute!
no subject
"How do you know my people?"
no subject
"There was one when I'm from, Impa. She guarded Zelda." He brings his hand to his heart. "I'm really grateful to her. She watched over her for a very long time."
He smiles at Sheik with no trace of fear but instead an already placed trust. Knowing the purpose of the Sheikah is to protect Zelda can do that. "I bet you watch over this Zelda, right?"
no subject
Huh. Does that mean other names might get used as well? He can't help but wonder if there's another Saria or Navi - or Sheik - around.
((OOC: I'm off to class, feel free to skip over my Link!))

The physical resemblance is uncanny, for one. All the Links seem to be optimistic too, and all of the Links (except the one she knows) seem to share a strong bond with "Zelda". That last part has made her uncomfortable more than once with Bitty Link and Little Link.

"It is said that only the Hero can wield the Master Sword. If there is only one hero who can wield it, it seems strange that there are so many of you. So it stands to reason that you are but reincarnations of that first hero."
no subject
"Oh, so then maybe what I call the surface, you call Hyrule? That's your home, right? If everyone else lives on the surface then.. um.. does that make me the first one?" It would have to, wouldn't it? His Zelda isn't a reincarnation of another Zelda, but the mortal incarnation of a Goddess, so it stands to reason.
...What if he's sitting here speaking to his future children?
no subject
Absently, he reaches for the blade, brushing his thumb across the crystal. "But I think everyone is from the surface. Where else would they be from?"
no subject
"I suppose that that would make you the first, wouldn't it?"
no subject
"If that is the case, then you may be the Hero of Time as he was first known to be before he-" a vague gesture toward his own Link. "-laid claim to that title." Maybe, possibly. He certainly looked the part, at least. They could be jumping to conclusions here, but so far, the newcomer's words seem to line up. Sheik frowned, thoughtful.
"Would you try touching the blade?" If he is truly the Hero of those legends from long ago, then the Master Sword should react to him and allow him to wield it.
no subject
He nearly asks his doppleganger's permission but some petulant little voice inside his head says no, it's his friend, his right, why should he have to ask? But the glance that passes between the heroes is not one of older and younger, but of equals and no words even need spoken.
Link takes the Master Sword carefully in hand as Time offers it up, hilt first, and he feels a surge in his heart at the familiar weight in his right hand. He closes his eyes and just feels the cool metal against his palm, feels the welcoming presence of Fi - real or imagined, he can't tell - sleeping within the sword, silently greeting her master, her friend, from ages past. It may have only been days since he set the sword to rest in the Sealed Temple, but even so...
Carefully, the hero brings the sword up and rests his forehead against the flat of the dimly-glowing blade, whispering quietly. "I've missed you."
no subject
Swallowing, he forces down the very faint hint of jealousy. "You're right-handed, huh?" he observes quietly.
no subject
"Do you feel anything?" Zelda finally asks. If there is someone inside the sword, some type of spirit... maybe he can awaken it.
no subject
"There is no doubt the sword recognizes him as its master," just look at that glow. It doesn't usually do that.
Pleased that his guess had been correct, Sheik's all but smiling.
