Summary: Apparently going to bed is dangerous business and you might wake up somewhere completely random!
Rating: T tops, probably.

The sun glaring on the back of his eyelids wasn't a way that Link particularly enjoyed waking up but he was quite used to it by now. Work had to be done. There was still the rest of the house to build and food to gather and later Ledd was going to help him dig a field so they could grow pumpkins and the like. And of course there was Zelda's answer to look forward to...

Link supposed he shouldn't have sprung his confession on her, but he'd been fit to burst ever since their journey ended and they'd started about the task of getting settled on the surface; he just couldn't keep it to himself anymore! He knew he shouldn't pressure her, not after all she'd been through, but he couldn't help but be anxious.

With a sigh, the hero opened his eyes, expecting to see hasty, rough walls and the sun rudely streaming in on his face but was instead startled into sitting up by the sight of several buildings, strange plants, and people. He let out a cry of surprise and dismay, pushing himself to his feet and whirling around, finding nothing familiar in his surroundings and more worrying, not finding Zelda either.

"I'm curious which one, too. It's common to feel a resonance with one of the goddesses more so than the others, but they are usually worshipped as a unit."

Zelda, of course, prefers Nayru. Her look of academic curiosity probably gives that away. No, Sky, she doesn't want to eat you. Just your brains.

"U-uh... none of those, actually, though I think they do have something to do with the Triforce probably. We, uh... we worship Hylia."

He keeps an eye on Zelda as he says it, curious at her reaction.

Not much reaction from Link, at least. "Like the lake?" he wonders out loud, "Or... like Hylians, I guess..."

Zelda, on the other hand, has quite the reaction to hearing her last name mentioned along with worship. Why is he staring at her while he says it? Why does he look like he thinks she should know something? This is very uncomfortable.

The young knight laughs maybe a bit too loudly. "Maybe! I really don't know. But it doesn't matter, right? I mean, Farore and Nayru and Din are still around from when I'm from. I'm not sure Nayru or Din like me very much though."

He grins sheepishly, remembering the trials. Faron had been one thing, but Lanayru and Eldin made him want to tear his hair out. At least Hylia's had been on Skyloft, where he knew the terrain like the back of his hand.

Zelda making that face is making him uncomfortable though, so he gracelessly changes the subject. "So, uh, I'm pretty hungry! What's Sheik making for dinner? Do you mind if I have some?"

"Sure, I bet you can!" Link grins back, tension defused. (Besides, of course Farore likes him the best!) Peering into the kitchen, he returns to the little group. "And we're having fish. It's really nice the way Sheik cooks it."

"Wait just a moment. Why do you look like you're trying to avoid something?"

Don't think she won't grab your ears, because she will. Zelda leans towards Sky, making a very Not Amused face. He'd best be honest if he knows what's good for him.

"B-but I'm hungry..." He laughs again, sheepishly. "C'mon Zel, don't look at me like that! It makes your cheeks look puffy!"

Yeah that's right, he went there! That face is just so much like the ones his Zelda makes though, he couldn't help it.

Sorry, Zelda. Link's just going to hastily stifle a laugh behind his hands. "How about we talk more after dinner?" he suggests, tips of his ears going faintly pink as his stomach pipes up in agreement, "You can tell us about your time!"

She's one step ahead of you, heroes. Being referred to in such a familiar fashion? Not something she's exactly used to. Blushing, Zelda hurries to the kitchen.

As they all file into the kitchen, Sheik's busy with the rice-cooker. He's been listening, though, and he doesn't exactly appreciate that sort of familiar tone with Zelda when she's apparently uncomfortable with it. So new guy, you're getting a stern glare, even as he ushers Zelda to the half-chopped vegetables in the effort to give her the opportunity to compose herself.

"Let me make one thing clear. Zelda is not the same girl you know. Therefore, I expect you to treat her with the respect she deserves." Hero of legend or no, there are some things you just don't do. Well, not within earshot of an overprotective Sheikah guardian, at least.

At first Link's taken aback by Sheik's tone, but in true Sheikah fashion, Link had to concede that he had a point. Just as he and his descendant obviously differ in many ways, so too does this Zelda differ from his childhood friend. And even if she didn't, Link could understand Sheik's attitude. After all, he at least had to know she's the reincarnation of Hylia; it's his duty to protect her.

"I'm sorry, I got carried away." He hero looks down in proper remorse for his comment.

Link gives the other a sympathetic smile, mouthing, "He's overprotective!" as clearly as he can. As for dinner, he'll just awkwardly linger around the kitchen, happy to help with anything that Sheik deems him capable of doing.

"It's easy to get confused here," he shrugs, "Especially when people have the same name."

Oh yeah. Nicknames are going to have to happen.

"Ah, no, it's alright, I am not angry or anything like that. I was just... surprised."

She feels terribly with Sky looking that sad. It wasn't that awful being called Zel! He could call her that if he wanted to, really! She'll just half hide behind Sheik so he can't see her being flustered about it.

There are too many people in his kitchen underfoot. "Link, go sit. You are in the way." Speaking of needing nicknames - Sheik really means Ocarina Link with his hovering. Zelda, he allows to stay where she is, even if it does mean working around her.

Though of course, being the sweet kid he is, Skyloft's Link thinks Sheik is talking to him - he is the odd one out, after all - and backs up a bit. "Oh, sorry! I'll just get out of the way."

He turns and heads back out into the living room awkwardly, not sure what to do with himself.

Link nods absently - it's a common-enough rebuke that he no longer is bothered by it - retreating back out and nearly bumping in to the other as he does. "Oh... I think he meant me," he says sheepishly, glancing back in to the kitchen from outside it.

"We should think of nicknames. It's gonna get really confusing otherwise!"

Ducking out for a few rounds while the Links bond!

Zelda stays in the kitchen with Sheik, moving so she's not in his way quite so much once the Links make their exit. If there are any small, easy tasks to be done, she helps him with them just so she has something to do.

"Nicknames? I guess that would make it easier. Do you have one?" If there were other Links here already, he probably would.

"Not really," Link admitted, scratching at the back of his head. "Malon called me Fairy Boy - but, uh, I don't want that as a nickname."

Especially since he didn't, well, have a fairy.

"Well what about the other Links, then? Do they have nicknames? I never had one that everyone used, I'm just Link! Or, uh... well Fi called me Master but I don't really want people calling me that."

He laughs. It's not strictly true, Zelda did call him sleepy head or lazy bones or any number of things along those lines but he didn't want to share those either.

"Well, the littler Links have been calling me Big Link and I call them Little Link... Little Links, I guess," he adds with a faint laugh. "But that won't work 'cause we're both older. I think they'll need nicknames as well."

"They're younger?" Link looks delighted. He's always wanted a family, and younger brothers would be so amazing! Assuming... they want to be his younger brothers at all. But that wasn't what they were discussing just now.

"Maybe based on hobbies? What do you like to do?"

"Uh huh! I think they're both around twelve." He grins a bit, then shrugs a little. "Um... playing music... riding Epona, she's my horse... I like plants, I guess?"

He pauses thoughtfully, then adds, "I also like going to the bakery, but I don't think I want to get nicknamed Cookie or anything."

"I'd imagine not. It'd be weird to be named after a food! I wouldn't want to be called Pumpkin." He rubs his chin. "Well, I like to fly and catch bugs and sleep. Does that bring anything to mind?"
