Summary: Masaomi is really depressed and really needs to get away. So he goes to hunt down Shikamaru (and later makes good on a bet)

[To say Masaomi Kida was in pain would be the understatement of the century. It wasn't just what happened the day before. It wasn't just the trip home which he now remembered. It wasn't just the sweetness of the lie which made it hurt. It wasn't anything else to do with the AU experiment either. It was all of those things and more - his own weakness, his own pain, his own frustration with the person he was now. And frankly, he couldn't take it anymore. As he promised the Error Katara on the 9th, he was gone by the tenth, marching out of the village by mid-day in his ninja flack vest and carrying a decent sized backpack of food with him. ...

It seemed like a better idea then. He got the mountains's base by the end of the day, made camp a ways up, and then began his hike in the morning. He kept this up (with isolated meditation attempts and "training Linda" attempts until about the morning on the 12th, at which point, well. He concluded he was lost.

...It was then that he ran into an enormous deer. I will let Pi decide if that is threaded or we just cut to the chase]

[pusshing his thumb and middle finger together now in a clap. Linda used Fake Out! ...by slapping her tail and one of her palms together. It's and impressive Fake Out honestly but the fact it isn't being used as a first move throws off the shock effect]

...It's kinda hard to judge Fake Out outside of an actual first move.

Yeah, I've noticed that. Ah... outside of that, you saw her quick movement attack... [He trails off there, waiting for Silver to give it a name. He won't reveal the one he had in mind]

Quick Attack. [...He should say something. He should really say something.]

Right, that. And then there's- Liiinda bite.

[Sweet! Then she'll be going to bite the bird]

[tsuntrader]

[Murkrow's bit, but he doesn't seem very fazed by the bite at all.] Bite's a Dark type move instead of a Normal or Electric type. Murkrow's a Dark/Flying type, so it's not gonna bother him that much.

Dark, really? [Hm, he hums at that and then] Hey, Linda, show off that new thing.

[Linda looks confused briefly. Masaomi points at the dirt. She then nods and, her claws glowing faintly, goes to dig herself underground with surprising speed]

[...You've really been going at this, haven't you, Masaomi?] Dig. It's a ground-type move. Make sure you're not underground while someone uses Earthquake, or you'll get hit twice as hard.

[Linda rises, planning to hit Murkrow with it. But Masaomi nods]

She has two other things - like I said, Return, and this one thing where she winks, but I don't really get them.

[So, that's the movepool. Where should he focus, and should he try to learn better/new things?]

That sounds like Charm. It's really good at distracting an opponent. [Murkrow's up in the air, so the Dig is pretty useless. Murkrow does land afterward, however, and offers Linda a brofist since it seems like they're done for now.]

[Flatly, returning to his own "I am not a heartbroken mess" tone] Then could you try sappy?

...You have to be completely in sync with the Pokémon using it. You have to completely trust, care about, and understand each other and have to have the same will and determination when using the move. If you can manage that, the power from it is explosive. If not, it scales down in power to the point where the move can be completely useless.

[He glances at Linda. the move has been useless to him so far, which means...?

...Don't think about it too much. Just keep it in mind for the future. You two haven't known each other for that long.

I think you have a lot of moves and ideas to work with, but... You should pay attention to Linda. She can tell you what strategies will work best for her better than I can.

[Of course something's really bothering him. But pay attention to Linda...? He raises his eyes to look up at the sky, thinking about that. Not the bothering part (you'll need to press that) but the other part...]

...She likes her power, a lot. She's proud of her electricity, but shooting from a distance doesn't suit her at all.

Then a move like Volt Tackle really suits her. Focus on that and physical moves. Bite, Doubleslap, Quick Attack... Even if the versatile moves are nice, If powering through things is her style, then you should probably focus on those.

But before that, you need to focus on whatever's getting to you.
