Pokémon battle! And we'll see who is the better trainer! And we'll see who has the bigger Pokéballs!
Who: Gold (
mischiefbreeder) and Silver (
tsuntrader), plus any spectators!
What: Silver issued a battle challenge to Gold, who accepted.
When: Saturday afternoon
Where: The Battle Dome
Summary: Gold and Silver have been in Luceti together for a year and yet have never had a single Pokémon battle. Deciding it's time to rectify, they head off to the Battle Dome to throw down!
Rating: PG? I mean, it's Pokémon...
[Gold had been anxiously waiting for this day. Sure, the standard format for Pokémon battles involved just battling whenever your eyes meet, but if they did that, there'd be constant battles all day, every day. Therefore, these things had to be planned.
...Besides that, Silver was his rival. Always has been, always will be. That makes this battle special. A battle to settle old scores... No, a battle to determine who's the best trainer out of the two of them, and furthermore... To show everyone just how it's done.
It was time. Their battle lies ahead.]

I see.... [WELL. That's pretty cool... except now Ingo feels like he knows even less about Johto than before. JOHTO HAS NO MOVES.] How much of that did you improvise? I recognized a majority of it as established moves.
[Good job distracting him, Silver. Ten points.]

The electric move was Wild Charge-- it works in the same way as Flare Blitz, as the user sustains damage as well. Aqua Tail is a common move for Water-types to utilize-- it can also be learned by non-water types, but more rarely. I suspect Murkrow used the flying-type move Brave Bird-- which is, like Wild Charge, similar to Flare Blitz.
And Gold's Aitaro-- Aipom-- evolved into Ambipom, also a normal type. Its evolution is specific in that it must know Double Hit before it can evolve-- hence its tail. I've known Ambipom to be quite formidable in battle, so his evolution is to be congratulated.
[...] Incidentally, were you aware that Murkrow and Sneasel have evolutions, as well?

What?
no subject
Murkrow and Sneasel. They evolve into Honchkrow and Weavile, respectively.
no subject
What conditions do they need for their evolutions? An item? Through trade? A certain move? An area? [Tell him more]
no subject
Items, for both. Sneasel requires a Razor Claw while training at night; Murkrow must hold a Dusk Stone.
[He folds his arms, thoughtful.] By chance, that is the same stone that is used to evolve Chandelure's previous forms. I had some of the stones on hand for such evolutions, but I can't say if they arrived at Luceti with me...

[But Silver seems the stubborn won't-take-no-for-an-answer kinda guy, so Ingo does ponder it a moment.] I would, perhaps, ask for a one-on-one battle following your Pokémon's evolution, but I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the, ah... strongly hands-on type of battling style you used. [It looks like serious business and not to be trifled with or asked for...]
no subject
Was it really that hands on?
no subject
No, Ingo. This is one of those universe differences. Stop trying to make sense of it.]
no subject
Well, no, he could think of plenty of weirder things. Like, you know, universes where Pokédexes are as common as newspapers. Or universes where there aren't any Pokémon at all.]
no subject
Hmm. [He has a point. It's still plenty dangerous, but...] That is true. I suppose it depends on your tolerance for physical strain. And it certainly adds the element of a Trainer's ability to keep up...
[It's definitely more survivalist than the sporty battles of the gameverse world.]

...Wait a minute.] Would training with you count as a payment? [One. Track. Mind.]

It can most certainly count, and teaching you is but a part of training. [Training is a two-way street and all that!] I would be more than happy to, Silver.
