mischiefbreeder: (Let's settle this like real trainers!)
Gold ([personal profile] mischiefbreeder) wrote in [community profile] lucetilogs2012-05-19 03:58 pm

Pokémon battle! And we'll see who is the better trainer! And we'll see who has the bigger Pokéballs!

Who: Gold ([personal profile] mischiefbreeder) and Silver ([personal profile] tsuntrader), plus any spectators!
What: Silver issued a battle challenge to Gold, who accepted.
When: Saturday afternoon
Where: The Battle Dome
Summary: Gold and Silver have been in Luceti together for a year and yet have never had a single Pokémon battle. Deciding it's time to rectify, they head off to the Battle Dome to throw down!
Rating: PG? I mean, it's Pokémon...
[Gold had been anxiously waiting for this day. Sure, the standard format for Pokémon battles involved just battling whenever your eyes meet, but if they did that, there'd be constant battles all day, every day. Therefore, these things had to be planned.

...Besides that, Silver was his rival. Always has been, always will be. That makes this battle special. A battle to settle old scores... No, a battle to determine who's the best trainer out of the two of them, and furthermore... To show everyone just how it's done.

It was time. Their battle lies ahead.

...Then they might show up in the future... [Maybe. Probably. Hopefully. ...Will that just make his bird even more crazy...?]

[personal profile] infinitefrown 2012-05-21 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
With any luck. I'll let you know if I happen upon either of the items. [Hopefully they will. ...No promises on that second one though. Crazykrow is probably imminent.]
tsuntrader: (Hmph.)

[personal profile] tsuntrader 2012-05-21 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
...If you do, there's gotta be something I can do for you to earn them. There's no way I'll just take them for free. [...There is one other way to get those items, too...]
infinitefrown: (what's that about guys with big hands..?)

[personal profile] infinitefrown 2012-05-21 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
[He shakes his head.] The items wouldn't be of use to me here [unless Chandelure hooked up with a Ditto] so you would be welcome to them, Silver.

[But Silver seems the stubborn won't-take-no-for-an-answer kinda guy, so Ingo does ponder it a moment.] I would, perhaps, ask for a one-on-one battle following your Pokémon's evolution, but I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the, ah... strongly hands-on type of battling style you used. [It looks like serious business and not to be trifled with or asked for...]
tsuntrader: (...Right.)

[personal profile] tsuntrader 2012-05-21 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
...I'm not really familiar with anything else. [Sure, he could probably tone it down, but...]

Was it really that hands on?

infinitefrown: (UH HUH......)

[personal profile] infinitefrown 2012-05-21 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well-- as I first mentioned, riding one's Pokémon into the fray isn't quite the standard of battle behavior in my experience. [Is it a Johto thing? Well-- he's battled Johto trainers in the past and they seemed pretty tame... so maybe it's just Silver and Gold?!

No, Ingo. This is one of those universe differences. Stop trying to make sense of it.]
tsuntrader: (Hmph.)

[personal profile] tsuntrader 2012-05-21 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
But being right in the battle with your Pokémon is the best way to do it. It helps with timing, precision, observations, decision making, being completely in sync with your Pokémon, getting a better understanding of the battle... [Burned? Singed from electric attacks? Soaked, muddy, exhausted, battered, bruised, and a little bloody? The side effects of battling the way he does don't occur to him in the slightest. That is the most bizzare universe difference he could possibly...

Well, no, he could think of plenty of weirder things. Like, you know, universes where Pokédexes are as common as newspapers. Or universes where there aren't any Pokémon at all.]

infinitefrown: (spare me the lecture)

[personal profile] infinitefrown 2012-05-21 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, who'da thought there were worlds sans Pokémon? That was just crazy talk...]

Hmm. [He has a point. It's still plenty dangerous, but...] That is true. I suppose it depends on your tolerance for physical strain. And it certainly adds the element of a Trainer's ability to keep up...

[It's definitely more survivalist than the sporty battles of the gameverse world.]
tsuntrader: (Whatever.)

[personal profile] tsuntrader 2012-05-21 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah. Pokémon training isn't just about training your Pokémon. It's about training yourself, too. [...Right? Surely he's heard of this stuff...]

[personal profile] infinitefrown 2012-05-21 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. [He can agree with that!] However, as I know it, it is more in the mental and emotional sense for most, rather than physical. This allows for more people [read: kindergartners and sickly rich boys] to try their hand at battling, but to a little less of the effect you mention, I suppose.
tsuntrader: (...Right.)

[personal profile] tsuntrader 2012-05-21 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[...But little kids and sickly boys still do this crazy stuff anyway. ...Then again, he doesn't know much about people outside of his friends.

...Wait a minute.]
Would training with you count as a payment? [One. Track. Mind.]
tsuntrader: (the fuck is this)

[personal profile] tsuntrader 2012-05-21 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
...Then again, that would be more of you teaching me... [Which. Would be pretty damn cool. ...But it doesn't solve their problem.]

[personal profile] infinitefrown 2012-05-21 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Training? Well-- having a training partner would actually be pretty awesome. It gets kinda dull training by yourself all the time. And okay, Silver-training will probably be similar to this battle, which will be... interesting, but Ingo can still learn new things!! He can totally try to ride Haxorus or whatever...!]

It can most certainly count, and teaching you is but a part of training. [Training is a two-way street and all that!] I would be more than happy to, Silver.
tsuntrader: (...oh)

[personal profile] tsuntrader 2012-05-21 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
...Really? [Can today get any better?]
infinitefrown: (adjustments)

[personal profile] infinitefrown 2012-05-21 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course. [He nods.] I don't see why not. It's been some time since I've trained with another, so the opportunity is welcome.
tsuntrader: (Big sis)

[personal profile] tsuntrader 2012-05-21 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nod nod holy shit he's going to train with a cool knowledgeable adult.]

Thanks. [Guhhhmrrbah. ...Headpats...]
infinitefrown: (mmmm lung cancer)

[Oh come on. It was quick!]

Of course. [Hmhm.]
infinitefrown: (no terminal called end in your life)

[personal profile] infinitefrown 2012-05-22 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Anyway, with that out of the way-- Ingo will cross his arms and regard Silver more curiously, now.]

It's also very impressive-- the way you steered your Pokémon down new tracks without knowing those paths were already built... Quite remarkable, really. [He shakes his head slightly, in mild disbelief.] If I may ask-- what was your thought process regarding the formation of those moves?
tsuntrader: (Hmph.)

[personal profile] tsuntrader 2012-05-22 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
[...His thought process. Right.] Feraligatr is well rounded. Good offensive and defensive strengths... But he's pretty heavy, so he only has good speed in short bursts and in his reflexes. That's why Earthquake and Surf are good moves for him.

We've practiced with Surf a lot to make it wider or narrower before. Since Explotaro's pretty fast, it seemed like a good idea to narrow that water pressure even further to get Feraligatr to move a lot more quickly. I'm not sure why I didn't think of it sooner. Aqua Tail just followed suit. My big sis came up with something pretty similar before to quickly maneuver in the air with her Blastoise.
infinitefrown: (UNSURE)

[personal profile] infinitefrown 2012-05-22 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
[okay, that makes sense... "Explotaro" must be Typhlosion, yeah.... okay, yes, he can see th-- wait

wh-- ]

A Blastoise in the air....

[WHAT...]
tsuntrader: (...yeah okay fine)

[personal profile] tsuntrader 2012-05-22 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Using its cannons to propel itself into the air. [Big sis is just that cool.]
