Summary: Gold and Silver have been in Luceti together for a year and yet have never had a single Pokémon battle. Deciding it's time to rectify, they head off to the Battle Dome to throw down!
Rating: PG? I mean, it's Pokémon...
[Gold had been anxiously waiting for this day. Sure, the standard format for Pokémon battles involved just battling whenever your eyes meet, but if they did that, there'd be constant battles all day, every day. Therefore, these things had to be planned.

...Besides that, Silver was his rival. Always has been, always will be. That makes this battle special. A battle to settle old scores... No, a battle to determine who's the best trainer out of the two of them, and furthermore... To show everyone just how it's done.

It was time. Their battle lies ahead.]

[It's ridiculous. It's been far too long since they've battled. What kind of rivals are they, anyway? Waiting a whole year to finally battle? He couldn't be more eager to start this already.

To Silver, it's not about the spectators at all. Since the moment he woke up, it's been the only thing that he's been able to focus on. It's all that matters, after all. Everything else has been completely drowned out in the process.

It's on. It's a battle to show who's the better trainer out of the both of him... And it's a battle he fully intends to win.]

You better be ready. [Let's do this, Gold.]

I've been ready all day. Let's throw down already!

[Green is watching intently, and it's clear that he's studying their techniques.

He's a Pokémon trainer himself, so he may be good to consult for an explanation of what's going on!]

[He's not the only one who's been ready all day. But Silver's done talking for now. Let's hurry up and get this show on the road.

Silver immediately starts setting up a simulation. It's... A large field at a time when the sun is almost done setting but with bright moonlight to keep things visible for them. To their right is forest with a small lake. To the left it starts to turn into hills instead of simple flat land.

Simple but effective. This doesn't need to be about fancy nonsense anyway.]

[Gold's tossing one of his balls up and down in the air, his free hand in his pocket.]

Man, this is it? You sure know how to keep things simple! [Gold would have chosen a flying battle stadium.]

[Silver rather casually pulls out a ball of his own and steps in, looking around and getting a quick feel for the area before returning his attention to Gold.]

It was intentional. My backup idea was a flying battle stadium.

[Gold likewise steps forward.]

Don't you know better than that? The safe and simple option is the backup, not the main!

This isn't about fancy stuff. It's just about the battle.

[Gold grumbles this next part.]

You could still do both.

Are you ready? [Get over it, Gold.]

Yeah, yeah, let's go already. [no never]

[Going it is. Silver's quick to let out Sneasel, and without taking a second to even consider whatever Pokémon Gold lets out, he already calls out-]

Fake Out. [-And just like that, Sneasel starts speeding up towards Gold to hit his pawclaws together and fire out a nice large beam of energy in the process. This one's his tribute to you, Masaomi.]

[At that same moment, Gold sends out Aitaro, his Aipom, with a very similar call. And by similar, I mean exactly the same.]

Fake Out! [Aitaro runs right towards Sneasel, albeit not as quickly and unleashes its own beam of energy, taking the form of a large glove-like hand to collide with Sneasel's.

You should pay that tribute to Gold, Silver! It came from him, after all!]

[That may be so, but he's sure as hell not using it because of Gold. Sneasel falls back and holds his ground right next to Silver, and the two of them stand defensively, as if waiting for Gold to make a move.

Truth be told, that's nothing like what he has in mind. Sneasel's making a subtle use of Taunt to keep Aitaro from using most of its usual tricks.]

[Do that all you like, Sneasel, because Aitaro's packing a different set than the one you're used to. Gold grins as he utters the next command.]

Return! [Prepare for a love-filled bitch-smacking, Sneasel as Aitaro comes right at you.]

[Sneasel isn't particularly enthused about being hit by that, so he does the good and smart thing and cleanly dodges the attack. Remember how annoying it is to hit Sneasel? No? Here's a refresher.

It's a refresher accompanied by a Faint Attack. Careful for those claws, Aitaro.]

[Aitaro's not particularly enthused about getting hit either, but he'll take those claws like a boss, dishing out a little Payback in return. What do you mean it's not very effective against Sneasel? IT'S STILL A COUNTER-ATTACK!]

[Crys is definitely interested in how much they've improved over the year they've been here. She takes a seat with Mega, Arckee, and Xatee, ready for the fight to start.]

[Sure, it's a counter-attack... But it's not a very effective one.]

Really, Gold? That's the best you can do? [Because Sneasel can definitely do better. Much better. He'll even make use of Aitaro's one weakness in the form of a Brick Break.] I thought you learned your lesson when it comes to type compatibility.

[Gold just stays quiet as Aitaro makes an attempt to dodge and uses another Payback.]

[It's a fairly useless tactic, especially since Silver and Sneasel couldn't be more on the same page. It only takes a quick gesture of his arm to direct Sneasel right where he needs to go to land a hard hit.]

If you're gonna use amateur tactics, you might as well call it quits now. [That's far from what Silver wants. More than anything, he wants to stir Gold up, and if any words can do it...]

[Those words hit hard.]

You're right... If I'm gonna be this stupid in the battle, I might as well just toss in the towel, right? I'll just give up now...

[Or, well, it would, if Gold hadn't been planning this all along, luring Sneasel into just the right position. As one of Sneasel's Brick Breaks come in, Aitaro hits the floor, and catches the attack... with its tail?!]

...Idiot! If you actually bought that load, you really are dumber than you look!
