[A Town Meeting for how to handle the situation. No doubt people will come and speak up about things in turn. Despite the fact that I'm posting with Scorpius he's obviously not the one organizing it. There's an OOC Plotting Post here.

This post will have two subthreads mostly for quick and easy organizational purposes - one to put aside the proposing of ideas or questions, ICly (if you want to not write out the whole thing ICly you could just put up an OOC description of what they're doing. and then a second for mingling which isn't necessarily publicly proposing some big idea or question

I like caution. Being prepared makes sense. ...This...this doesn't feel like the right answer. I don't think we should give in to what they ask...but preparing a fighting force is the wrong active focus.

That's what I think. [But he asked how you felt, didn't he?] I feel...like they ought to have wanted him sooner, if they really want him at all.

So do I.

Preparing a fighting force isn't a bad thing, per say... many of us are fighters foremost, and we rest easier knowing something's ready on that front... but no... it shouldn't be the only active focus. We could be facing a siege instead of a war and we need to prepare for that as well.

Problem is, consequences could be anything, and in this people are falling back on what's easy and familiar.

[When Mia thinks of "the worst that could happen", images of battle and clanging swords aren't what comes to mind. That is apparently setting her apart from a lot of other people in this room.]

They could contaminate our water. ...They could eliminate our water, and we would largely be powerless to change it.

[That's just one example of the dark places her thoughts are going.]

It's not bad to be ready for a fight, as long as we're...really ready for anything.

It's appreciated. I hope people still think I possess a fraction of that when this is said and done.

And with that comes the hard decisions. There is much hinging on it. He hopes he makes the right ones.]

[Mia knows that he Knows. It's a big responsibility that just got much, much heavier. She hasn't seen a need to ask him for more specifics other than whether their Malnosso "guest" was still alive, and she won't do it now either.]

Sometimes you achieve more when you seem to have abandoned all sense.
