So... meanwhile, back at the ranch, there were opportunities for those who have caught their journals to know who's coming, and those who have not caught their journals to be taken by surprise at the new Water Tribe member in the house.

[Whoa, girl! She catches Ikki without any trouble, but the hard part is sorting out what she said.]

Grandpa gave it to me! [ Ikki puts her arms around Korra's neck, happy to be held until she's put down. She hasn't seen Korra in about a week, after all.

She'd. Be more worried about Tarrlok, but she doesn't see him, so...she's okay with being okay for now. ]

[Korra doesn't mind holding the small girl. It's not like she's heavy... and it's nice to have someone to take her mind off of things. Korra can't be all sulky if there's someone with so much energy talking to her.]

He did? How long did it take him to make?

I dunno if he made them! [ She hadn't asked, actually. ] They were his, and he gave them to me.

[Well she's never seen anything like that before, and doesn't know you can pick things up at shops yet.]

Oh yeah? A present from your Grandfather is pretty cool. [Would that, in essence, be a present from her? She's not sure. It's weird thinking about multiple Avatars in the same place.]

[ Reasonable assumption, bro. ]

Yep! I got it a few days ago. Anyway, I got here - hm. Six days ago! About. [ Ikki's pretty well settled for that short amount of time, mostly because she's - Ikki. Her world view already included a lot of impossible things. ] Hey, are you gonna join airbending training with me and Jinora and Uncle Roku and Grandpa Aang? We haveta practice a few hours a day!

Yeah, I will.

[She really needs to focus on it. She doesn't have Probending or the Task Force here, so there isn't really many other options anyway.]

It's fun! I mean, now there're four of us, so we could even play airball! [ Ikki pauses. ] Well, I mean, when you get better. Which you will! 'Cause Grandpa Aang and Uncle Roku can help!

[She brings about another halfhearted smile for the girl, trying to mask her own insecurities.]

That'll be fun. Once I learn how to airbend I'll beat all three of you.

Maaaaaybe! [ Ikki grins in return to the small smile. She notices it isn't as bright as it could be, but...well, that seems to happen to people here. Ikki's not sure how to fix it. ] But it will be fun! And you can learn - you can learn lots of different sorts of fighting here! [ She's...trying to think of what Korra would like. 8|a ]

You really think so? [Right, like Ikki could name off five different fighting style Korra could learn.]

Yep! The ninja are pretty nice, and then there're pirates, and they all seem pretty strong! Besides, think about all the worlds - there's bound to be fighting styles we've never even heard of or dreamed of, y'know?

Sounds like a blast.

It is! [ Well, Ikki's not learning other styles of fighting exactly, but...she's happy Katara smiled. ]

And how has living with Aang been?

Really really really cool and fun! I've been to two birthday parties and Vivi and I had special cake from Sanji's restaraunt, and I went to Tanabata where I got to make wishes and see fireworks and then Chien had a pokemon battle so I got to see that! And we have family dinner every night and in the mornings I get up and Grandpa and Uncle Sokka are usually awake!

[Whoa, that's a lot. But Korra should have expected as much. She sets Ikki back down on her feet.]

Early risers... [She doesn't sound thrilled.]

[ Ikki uses her newfound freedom to bounce up and down in place, each time floating back down lightly. ]

Yeah! 'Cept Katara, 'cause she sleeps later and I'm not supposed to wake her up.
