A grass type, I'm guessing. What's your usual training regimen for them?

Well... [He actually has to stop and think about this for a second--gosh, I hope you like TL;DR, Green.] Back when it was just Pansage and I, I suppose our training regimen used to have something of a rigid taste to it since we used to take part in many battles almost every other day, so it was important to keep in shape and be able to bring forth quality matches against our opponents. It involved devoting a lot of time in trying to draw out the strength of it's hidden flavors, ones that would be considered the best of the best and something of an example for challengers to be inspired by and take note of.

But since having left the gym and having added two new additions to my team, I've had to do things a little differently--it's important to devote an equal amount of time to each Pokemon, and the training regimen has to be tailored to their specific tastes. After all, I can't quite use the same exact methods for training a Grass type on a Rock or Electric type, it would bring about a sour flavor if done that way. And traveling around has given me some time to help bring forth a little more relaxed training schedule, since we don't have to be expecting quite as many battles in one day as we used to. So...currently I suppose now we devote about an hour, two at the absolute most for each Pokemon specifically...and due to how there were often other things going on at the time during our travels, we didn't usually get to train every single day or anything like that, but we still tried to every couple of days or so when it felt appropriate or when my companions wanted to devote a day to having us all train our Pokemon together.

[There's a pause of silence for a moment before he adds--] Of course, that's how it was before I arrived here, so I might have to make a few adjustments to better suit our new environment.

Sounds like a solid regimen. I'd be interested in seeing how you train them - I'm always interested in learning about new Pokémon.
cilantro: (allow me to show you my skills)

Sure, I don't mind having you watch our training sometime. [After all, you can learn a lot about people and their Pokemon from doing so. Not to mention that Cilan is a showoff, so--] How about you? What would you say your training regimen is like with your Pokemon?
cooltrainer: (Pay attention)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-09-01 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
I train my Pokémon every day, but I normally have around 50 Pokémon to actively train with. Being limited to just three has made it a bit more challenging to come up with new goals.
cilantro: (oh my this is an interesting taste~)

Fifty? My, that's quite a lot of Pokemon--it's very impressive that you've acquired so many, not to mention keeping up with training all of them.

[Back home it seemed like there were probably very few people who had so many...unless you were Ash or something.] I suppose that does make it challenging being forcibly limited to just three Pokemon to work with, but some find that the more challenging something is, the more rewarding the taste of victory is when you succeed in your endeavors.

[Green had them for the same reason as Ash! He was helping old man Oak.]

The challenge comes from avoiding monotony, so it's a rather unique challenge for me.
cilantro: (oh let me count the ways)

[personal profile] cilantro 2012-09-02 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm sure you'll have found a way to combat it. [The threat of monotony, that is.] I can't quite attest to having the same exact challenge to overcome though, since I'm used to having only three Pokemon at the most to train with.

Still, it might be a little similar as I haven't been able to do as many tastings of Pokemon battles as I did before in Unova, so for me...I suppose it's a matter of turning towards a few other avenues of interest I have for the time being. [Such as his culinary skills that he's been utilizing while out on this camping trip.]

I see you have specialties outside of battles or training, so that makes sense.
cilantro: (sitting on the sidelines this time)

[personal profile] cilantro 2012-09-04 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
What about you? Is there anything that you like outside of Pokemon battles or training as well?
cooltrainer: (What?)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-09-05 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Outside of Pokémon battles or training?

...Huh.]

Learning new things, I guess. Though that was more along the lines of what my sister and grandfather specialized in.

I do know some martial arts, though I haven't practiced formal martial arts in some time.

[personal profile] cilantro 2012-09-07 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! Well, if you're still interested in those things, it's never too late to pick them back up again--martial arts especially could prove to be useful during your stay here when it comes to staying in shape or knowing how to defend yourself in the event your Pokemon were ever incapacitated, right?
cooltrainer: (The stoic one)

[personal profile] cooltrainer 2012-09-07 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
I can handle most emergency situations, but maybe some self training would be a good thing for me to pick up again. It'd be a bit nostalgic.
cilantro: (my burgundy senses are tingling...)

It certainly can't hurt, I'm sure.

[However, there's not really that much advice he can offer on it--everything he knows about martial arts is from watching Brycen's movies... ^^;;]
