Mmh. [She nods, coming fractionally closer with her light fixture in tow.] I...uh...

[Can't figure out what to say now that she has his attention. She is focusing on the ears, to the point where she looks there instead of his eyes.]

[If she's not going to follow through with her question, Leon is going to take advantage of the silence to ... uh, point. At the floating thing.]

What's that?

Oh, that's... [She has yet to learn its name.] Someone else's monster. He's afraid of it. So it's with me.

[fellpool]

A monster? [Just calling it a monster brings to mind mental images of larger, more ferocious things than ... that.] It's just following you around?

It asked. I...guess I like monsters.

[He glances down, expecting to see a nametag as he murmurs a comment.]

So you're guessing your way through all of this too, huh? Was that from your, uh, card?

[The nametag says "Raven".]

Mmh. [She nods, shifting from foot to foot while trying to look at him.] Do you forget too?

[It's like the awkwardness manages to be magnified the more they talk.]

I don't remember anything other than waking up this morning with a card on my bedside table. My card said I'm the only one around with these ... ears.

[That happens with Raven and everybody.]

I wanted to know...if you're a monster.

[He's honestly not sure what to make of that. Maybe if he had more of an idea what it meant to be a monster...]

I ... don't know. Really. My card said I'm supposed to be a clone.

[Should he be hiding that fact? It makes him uncomfortable, but he's not sure if that would mean anything to other people.]

What is a clone? [Maybe it's a type of monster?]

From what I remember-- [He pauses for a moment. That was weird -- why would he know what a clone is, if he was supposed to have amnesia? He frowns a little more, but starts over.]

From what I remember, a clone is a copy of another person.

[She's not grasping it.]

There's a boy here who looks a lot like me. Except he has ... different ears. [His brow twitches as he thinks about that boy.] He was weird. And his card said he has a clone, too.

Different ears?

[She touches her own pointed ones and half-winces. Also different, compared to many that she has seen.]

Yeah, that's-- [He pauses when he sees what she's doing, and he looks uncertain.] I-- Uh, he had curved ears. Like most people here seem to have.

[What else is there to say? She can't even half-remember comforting words.]
