Okay! [As they enter the house, Aang walks over the kitchen to look over their vegetable supply.] Let's see what we got here.

That's squash!!! [ In case. That wasn't obvious. Ikki doesn't remember how she learned it, or anything related, but she does recognize all of these -

...okay no what is some of this stuff seriously. 8|a goshdarned other worldly food. ]

Day Uno

That is! [He grabs the squash and gathers some of the other vegetables around - types of peas, green beans, etc.] Oh, we need a pot too. [He reaches under the counter to find one.] And I'm not really sure where to start.

Day Uno

[breezing]

Cutting them up?

Day Uno

Okay! Leave that to me. [He grabs the knife, which he was using the fingers off his gloves earlier.] Just line up all the vegetables you can find on the table while I cut the ones you're not near.

Day Uno

[breezing]

Okay! I can do that! [ It's one of those things that feels familiar but definitely isn't, because pretty much nothing is familiar. Still, Ikki hums a tune she doesn't know as she starts setting things up. ]

Great. We'll have this done in no time!

[So he grabs the knife and starts to cut the vegetables - but somewhat unevenly since he's not completely sure what he's doing - and he makes sure to work around Ikki.]

[breezing]

We should probably boil water, too!

Day Uno

Oh! Good idea. That's a way I can test my firebending.

[He puts down the kitchen knife and starts filling a pot with water.]

[breezing]

[ Yep she's gonna stop her vegetable setting up to watch this because firebending. ]

Day Uno

[He sets his pot atop the stove and moves his hands around it.]

Huh. Now... how do I do this?

Day Uno

[breezing]

[ Royal Research Assistants don't firebend, okay, Bonzu? ]

Think hot thoughts?

Hmmm... hot thoughts. Or... what if I think about warmth?

[He focuses as he runs his hands along the pot. And he thinks about warmth. Maybe it's something inside remembering that helps to guide him, as he finds himself focusing on the warmth inside of him.

And he feels it coming out through his hands. No visible flames at the moment, but a red glow against the pot. And the water is starting to heat...]

Warm thoughts are good, too!

[ Ikki watches with avid interest, not...quite certain what she's waiting for. She can't remember having ever seen anyone bend fire before.

There isn't anything flashy, which is sort of a let down, but the red glow of heat and the way the water begins to bubble does earn a sort of elated jump from the younger household member. ] You're doing it!

Yeah, I am! [And the water is soon coming to a boil. He pulls his hands away - they're still fine! He basks in the feel of it for a moment before he remembers that the water's boiling.] Oh, let's put the food in, right?

[breezing]

Good job, Bonzu!! [ They were totally spot-on with this royal firebender stuff. This is the proof.

Ikki nods and begins to collect the chopped vegetables, dumping them unceremoniously into the pot. ]

[He gives Ikki a grateful smile before he returns to his deed of keeping the pot hot while it cooks.]

Let me know when it looks done!

[Just in case he can't tell. And he's focusing on the warming part. After a few minutes, he manages to keep the pot heated with one hand while testing out the other hand in producing... so far small puffs of smoke.]

[ She nods cheerfully, although she's...not sure when it'll look done. Also she feels like adding more stuff. They apparently have seasoning, so...dumping a little bit of that in there, sure, why not? ]

[He just nods as she moves along. Clearly whatever they're doing must be good things. With his free hand, there starts to be flecks of flame mingled in with the puffs of smoke. While the pot stays warm and bubbling.]

Doing good?

[ They are the cooking masters. ...Hopefully, anyway.

Ikki considers this. Things are bubbling and starting to spell nice, so she nods cautiously. So far nothing has exploded, so that's a cooking victory, right? ]

I think it might almost be done? [ IT SMELLS EDIBLE? ]

Yeah, it smells real foody! [It's a smell which which his nose Pavolvianly associates with "food! it's almost time for the food eating!". But he looks around as he realizes something.]

But... Do we eat it in the water? Something seems kinda... off about that.

Day Uno

[breezing]

...Well, I guess we could drain it?

[ She's going through the cuboards. Maybe this bowl with all the holes in it could be used for that? ]

Day Uno

[Aang points towards it.]

There! That! Let's use that, it's gotta be right!

Day Uno

[breezing]

Right! The holey bowl!

[ She hands it over to Aang, triumphantly.

Yeah, she probably doesn't know the word for this thing even with her memories intact. ]

Day Uno

Holey bowl, got it.

[He'll definitely accept this as the proper terminology. Luckily, common sense is enough to tell him that this should be done over the sink. So... the draining is performed. But...]
