[Lupin frowned, not certain that he should trust this computer, but he managed to swallow his uncertainties for just the moment. He tapped Spock's arm for attention and jerked his thumb at the consoles.

Go do it.]

[Spock nods, lets go of the door and walks back toward the consoles.

He kneels and starts to rummage around with the wiring...

Spock lifts one hand to his head as if he is in slight pain... but shakes it off.

He connects the last wire....

There is a moments' pause before the lights start to flicker on and the gentle hum of power can be heard once more. But the clatter of the PADD can be heard as Spock doubles over, both hands clutching his head.]

[ A moment later, the console closest to GLaDOS lights up with lines upon lines of code. She doesn't pay any heed to to the person in obvious pain in front of her. She has a door to open. ]

There now. Was that so hard? Well, judging from your reaction it might have been, but you brought this all on yourself. So I can't say I have much sympathy.

In fact, I might not have any sympathy at all. I don't know if I'm capable of it. That might be something to look into when I'm done with this.

[Lupin ignored GLaDOS--and the door-- as soon as he heard the clatter of the PADD on the ground. He bolted over to Spock immediately upon seeing him bent over in pain. The world lurched with him as he moved, and his focus wavered in what could only be the fortelling of a migraine, but he could manage it.

The sight of Spock, the only person he knew that he could trust in the building, curled up in such distress was frightfully unsettling.

He dropped to his knees next to Spock and wrapped both arms around the other man's shoulders. There was no way for him to ask anything, and he was too alarmed to think. There was only one option left to him, and he took it.

Lupin grabbed one of Spock's hands, and didn't know if he should regret it.]

[Normally, Spock would have been interested to analyse the possibility of Artificial intelligence showing the capability of emotions... however, Spock was otherwise occupied.

It would seem that his Vulcan mind was attempting to heal itself without him knowing... and effect of the memory loss it seems....

Spock's Katra was literally trying to force itself through whatever barrier the Malnosso had set in place and it was causing him pain.... and Spock did not know why.

Lupin's sudden contact was like a cooling balm and his mind immediately reached out and grabbed hold....causing a rather curious sensation of..Sparks? Fireworks?..behind your eyes...]

...Ar..Arsene..?
redjacketthief: (-glasses- not feeling right)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-10-25 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lupin squeezed his eyes shut at the sudden sensation, torn between giddiness and pain. His grip on Spock's hand tightened reflexively as he gasped a startled breath and slumped against Spock.

He was conscious, but the vertigo was back at full strength. Any focus he had was lost to the dizzying haze, but he didn't panic. Spock was there as an anchor in many more ways than the obvious. His very presence was a comfort--

--though a part of his mind distantly bristled at such contact. There was a twinge of nervousness and discomfort, a vague anxiety about being exposed--

But his breathing calmed as he heard his name go unspoken. He could worry about the strange anxiety attack later.]

I'm fine. What about you?

spohkh: Thoughtful (Shh.... I'm thinking...)

[personal profile] spohkh 2012-10-25 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[....curious... There was something happening that he could not explain....]

I am ...I am not sure. My mind... something I cannot explain...

[Spock finds himself leaning into Lupin to increase contact... This was becoming frustratingly illogical....]

Should we apologize to GlaDOS? [It was rather an abstract thought...but Spock was pulling himself together once more... but remained rather confused.]
redjacketthief: @ rerun (-jigen- got my back?)

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-10-25 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
The spins got me.

[Vertigo. It was his only explanation for the disorientation, the moment of panic, and the crackling sensation that felt like the precursor to a migraine. Lupin breathed slowly, willing his focus to return to him, and squeezed Spock's shoulder in a reassuring gesture.]

Don't try to explain. Just help me up...and we should apologize to GLaDOS-chan.

['-chan'? Why would he use that?]
spohkh: (I am superior..)

[personal profile] spohkh 2012-10-25 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Spock nods and stands....taking Lupin with him and making sure he is steady...

Spock turns to face GLaDOS and bows his head slightly...]

My apologies for causing you distress... we did not know if you were a threat... [The fact that they still didn't know went without saying.]

If you would....kindly open the door for us, we will leave you in peace.
haveiliedtoyou: (There's always time for more testing.)

sorry for the delay, guys, I got hurricane'd x.x

[personal profile] haveiliedtoyou 2012-11-01 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
Now you're asking nicely? I'm afraid it's far too late for that.

But at least I want you out of here almost as much as you want to be out of here. So for now I'll go along with your request. Not particularly because you requested it, of course. I'm feeling just that generous.

I ran some tests with my spare processes, by the way. It turns out I'm not actually programmed to have any sympathy. I found that interesting. Not that I'm incapable of exhibiting the same symptoms, of course, but unlike you I'm not governed by any attachment to that sort of emotion.

[ There's a small beep from GLaDOS. ]

Oh, there's the other test. Looks like I don't have generosity, either. So I suppose I'm doing this all purely for my own benefit. [ She sighs, and it almost sounds... happy. ] You're welcome.

[ And with that, the metal shields locking down the Battle Dome all slide away, except for the one the two had been working on which raises angry screeching metal protest before disappearing itself. ]
redjacketthief: (facepalm)

D: At least you're okay!

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-11-01 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Lupin found that he didn't care whether GLaDOS was sympathetic or generous. She was reasonable and willing to cooperate, and that was enough. He bobbed his head in gratitude for her assistance.

A tug at Spock's arm, to get him to move. Lupin was still waiting out the vertigo that the chaos had triggered, but he heaved a breath of relief. At least everyone was okay.]
spohkh: (Serious Face)

[personal profile] spohkh 2012-11-01 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Spock felt the tug and responded.]

Indeed... Then we shall leave you.

[Spock grabs hold of Arsene's hand and walks towards the door.]
