What: Marco's surprise birthday party.
When: October 6th, in the afternoon.
Where: Community Housing 3, Room 40
Summary: It's Marco's birthday. Ace planned a party. Need I say more?
Rating: Uh, PG? Since there will be pirates here, I'm hoping not to go above PG-13. PLAY NICE, KIDS.
[Ace wasn't going to go overboard on the decorating. In fact, he had to leave a lot of it up to everyone else since his injuries prevent quite a bit of movement. But soon enough, there were a decent amount of streamers up, and a nice big banner that says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCO". He had to work extra hard to get the cake to look just right. The cake is surrounded by the presents, and there's a few separate tables for food and drinks. Fruit punch for everyone, and some alcohol for the adults and pirates.

Come on, people, this is a party. Let's live it up a little! And don't forget to embarrass congratulate the birthday pirate. Feel free to leave your own comment below, just for mingling, or just doing something silly, or giving Marco your present! Have at!]

[And Marco gives a shrug.] You lose track after the first few hundred... thousand.

Wow! How are you able to live for so long? Do you have a philosopher's stone?

A what? [Shakes his head no.] No, I just eat light and exercise.

[Worst friend ever.]

That's amazing. I don't think that can happen in my world. [And now she's all amazed by you, Marco. Wait until Ace finds out.]

[Ace will smack him. Ace is never any fun and doesn't believe his crazy ass lies, even when they're true. Jerk.]

It's not normally possible in mine either, eh. I just decided I wanted to set the record and then you know, once you start going, it's just so hard to stop.

[... The sad part about that is, in Marco's world that thing about setting records is totally true. NOT FOR HIM PERSONALLY, but other people on crazier things. Like the world's tallest bamboo stilts. Or eating the most donuts straight. See? This is the problem with his lies, he comes from a place where his truths are always crazier than the lies. Always.]

That is so amazing, Marco. You are very impressive. I'm sure you've seen everything.

[Small wry grin and he shakes his head. Switching partly from lies to truth. Which sort of winds up selling the lie more? Oh, the ironies...]

Not really. The more I see, the more I know how much I don't know yet. How much I haven't seen yet.

Eras come and go, generations can pass like that, [A small snap of his fingers.] but still some people really take me by surprise sometimes. Ace, his little brother Luffy, and the things they do that change the world -- things like that will always take me off guard, eh?

Yes. I can see how that is surprising, but those are wonderful surprises. I have yet to get to know Luffy, but I am sure he is just as great as his brother. [Judging how everyone speaks of him.]

From what I've seen, he is. A bit more eccentric though, if you can believe that. And probably just as reckless.

But probably just as caring. [Ran Fan really admires Ace.] I am sure they're both grateful to have someone like you by their side though.

Definitely. Hearts as big as my Pops'.

[Happy blush.] You think so? Ah, but Luffy's got his own crew. They're really impressive, eh! Ace, I'm just glad to have him by my side. I mean, will you get a look at this? [Gestures around at the party.] Best brother ever.

Ace really cares about you.

He actually didn't know that I knew you.

Ah, really? Sorry. [Rubs the back of his neck.] We're nakama, but sometimes I forget he doesn't know everyone I've met here and vice versa.

I know he's actually pretty fond of you, so I'm not sure how he didn't know we've met. But he can be a little slow sometimes.

[He says with all the affection of an evil big brother.]

No. It's fine. It's no one fault.

[Now cue the blushing, which she will cleverly hide by bowing.] It's an honor to be able to call him a friend. I am truly grateful to be able to consider the both of you as friends.

How did you and Ace first meet anyway, he never told me?

We met when I first arrived here during a draft. I was looking for Ling, my prince, when I came across Ace. He helped me out greatly by warming my automail. [She holds up her metal arm to clarify.] It wasn't built for cold weather, so it was becoming fairly painful.

[Nods his head.]

He comes in handy like that sometime. That must have been what, January or so?

[She takes a second to actually think about it.]

Actually, I believe it was in Decemeber, so the month before. He was the first person I met here.

[fierybluebird]

[Nods his head.] Good time to get help from him then.

Did you ever find your Prince or did he help with that too?

[oftheyin]

No. I was able to find my prince on my own, but Ace did help me. I will always be in his debt for that.

Just as I am in your debt for all your help with Knox.

[fierybluebird]

[Waves a hand.] It was my pleasure really. No need for debt, especially since we're friends, eh?

How's Knox doing lately, anyway?

[He says that, but she still thinks she's in his debt.]

Knox is doing very well. She become a wonderful companion.

Glad to hear it. You'll want to make sure she stays warm this winter, it's a little harder on birds than mammals, but blankets and a warm nesting area should do the trick no problem.
