Time to live it up in here!
Who: Anyone!
What: Marco's surprise birthday party.
When: October 6th, in the afternoon.
Where: Community Housing 3, Room 40
Summary: It's Marco's birthday. Ace planned a party. Need I say more?
Rating: Uh, PG? Since there will be pirates here, I'm hoping not to go above PG-13. PLAY NICE, KIDS.
[Ace wasn't going to go overboard on the decorating. In fact, he had to leave a lot of it up to everyone else since his injuries prevent quite a bit of movement. But soon enough, there were a decent amount of streamers up, and a nice big banner that says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCO". He had to work extra hard to get the cake to look just right. The cake is surrounded by the presents, and there's a few separate tables for food and drinks. Fruit punch for everyone, and some alcohol for the adults and pirates.
Come on, people, this is a party. Let's live it up a little! And don't forget toembarrass congratulate the birthday pirate. Feel free to leave your own comment below, just for mingling, or just doing something silly, or giving Marco your present! Have at!]

Soren's preening at the attention. He loves attention, man. ] Yeah! When I got here and gave him his presents. He gave Soren some sunflower seeds, actually - apparently he can talk bird!!
Oooh, maybe we can make a map! I mean, I know there are some, but there should be a shortcut map. But it's only to be used on magical adventures! [ or normal ones. Either option works for her. ] I like being up high, so I want to go there, too, sometime. My grandpa said he'd take me up on Appa sooner or later!
[ during the party ]
Aww, cute bird. And he's not blinding like Marco does when he sparkles!] Yeah, he does that a lot! One time I had this pet chicken called Keloggs, and they talked a lot together. And I think Marco asked him to look out for me since Keloggs always pecked me real hard before I get myself in trouble.
A map, huh. I've already started with that! Though it's far from finished, and they're just 'round the places I like most. I'm done with the mountain path map though, so I can give you a copy. Or I can just go with you, if you want! [Pff his secret chatterbox side is working excellently with her.] What's an Appa?
[ during the party ]
You don't have Keloggs anymore? [ She's not going to force an answer from that if it gets touchy, but Ikki's curious, and she may as well ask. ]
You have? I'd love love love a copy! Or, oh, definitely you can go with me! Or you could go with grandpa and I? [ Ikki's chatterbox side is NO SECRET. ] Appa is a sky bison! He's biiiiiiiiiig, and can carry my whole family on him. He flies, like me and Soren!
[ during the party ]
No problem. It was months ago anyway.]> Nope. Having him 'round's like a rental period or something. I only got him for an event and he kinda disappeared after it's over.
Yeah, sure! I can do both, give you a copy and go with you. And with... your grandpa? [Waitwait, the sky bison and the flying sound awesome but-- grandpa?? Yeah, she mentioned a grandpa in her conversation with Smoker, right? ... Oh.] Your grandpa's Aang, right?
[ during the party ]
Ooooh! I've only really been here for the amnesia thing. I mean, I was here longer, but nothing much happened then. [ She shrugs. Ikki...has yet to really be bothered by anything much, though. ]
That'd be great! And yep, my grandpa's really fun! D'you know him? [ he's also fourteen so it's okay their trip wouldn't get too ancient, man. ]
[ during the party ]
Ah. There's been a bunch of stuff that happened since. [And Sabo's far from pleased for some of them, and it might show a little from the way his eyes hardened from remembering the refugees. But he shakes his head and tries to smile.] Oh yeah, the amnesia thing! Did you forget stuff too?
We only talked once, I think, during Nami's party. [though Sabo feels guilty that he now knows most of the guy's life story from Ikki's conversation with Smoker >>] He's just a couple of years older than me, right? So yeah, why not?!
[ during the party ]
The moment of hardness reminds her a lot of her older relatives, but she's distracted by the question. And Ikki can't hold back a burst of laughter. ] Yep! Everyone at home did, pretty much. I thought our pet starfish was prince cursed into bein' one, Grandpa made up a lonnnnnnnnng name I can't remember for himself and thought he was just a firebender, and Uncle Sokka was hunting down one of our other family pets for maybe killin' his family - which Appa didn't! It was a little silly, y'know?
Oh, right! I played with Vivi there. [ MOST PEOPLE WHO TALK TO IKKI KNOW THE LIFE STORY OF ANYONE SHE HAS EVER MET, don't feel guilty Sabo! ] He's fourteen!
[ during the party ]
Sabo just laughs along, because even if he's a little lost with the unfamiliar names and terms and twists from the event, yep, it all sounds pretty funny!] You guys must've had a good laugh after everything's over, huh?
Hey, y'know, Vivi invited me to play then too. Huh, we could've met months ago. [FFF he'll realize this soon.] And he likes adventures as much as we do? That's great!
[ during the party ]
Oh! You should've said yes! We could've done lots of fun things when we were all three kids! Although we can still do 'em now, I guess!! Actually Vivi said I could be an honourary pirate if I passed an initiation, although I dunno what initiation that is! [ Ikki nods, cheerful. ] And riding animals! He once read an unagi, which is a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally big, big, angry fish!
[ during the party ]
Ah, I would've! But Luffy was doing something stupid again, so I kinda got distracted. And-- wait. Initiation? [Rubbing his chin thoughtfully.] Huh, I don't know anything about that. Anyone who loves the sea and adventures can be a pirate, y'know. And you gotta have a dream you wanna achieve no matter what. 'Least that's how I've always thought pirates should be.
[And he's just going to look stunned.] A really big-- hey, you mean it's like a Sea King?
[ during the party ]
...SECRET initiation!!! [ WHOOPS MAN HER MOUTH. But no she's normally pretty good about secrets, it's just. Pirate secrets = can be talked about with other pirates, right? ] Umm, I think it's prob'bly going to be a game or something, though!
[ Oh, right, she knows that term. Ikki nods, cheerful. ] Right! From what Smoker said, that's probably the closest to what they are.
[ during the party ]
BUT YES on to happier things, like pirate talks!] Well, I guess different crews have their own way to recruit people. But since it's the Strawhat crew and their captain we're talking about, then yeah, it's probably a game. Or-- [laughs] if you look weird, do cool stuff and can poop, he'll definitely make you join his crew! [He knows Luffy well enough to be sure of this.
And he looks properly impressed with your Grandpa now.] Then that's gigantic, alright. There are stories about Sea Kings swallowing up entire islands, y'know.
[ during the party ]
[ wow it sounds like her little brother would get onto the Straw Hats crew super easily?? ] The Whitebeards and the Straw Hats are the only crews that really have more than one person here, though, right? Are you on either of those? [ Since, you know. Both of the people she's identified as your brothers are on either of those crews. ] Or are you on your own crew?
Really? [ She looks properly impressed, too. ] So they like bite them off the earth?
[ during the party ]
[If Luffy discovers fart-bending, most likely yes! But here Sabo's smile dips, and turns a little sad.] ...Nah, I'm not part of those crews. I was just setting off to the sea for the first time when I got here, so I haven't found my own nakama yet...
[Nods.] And then when they poop it out, they'll break down to smaller groups of islands, scattered in the sea. Like archipelagos. [Welp, Sabo's information might be questionable, but hey, anything can happen in the Grand Line.]
[ during the party ]
[ In contrast with that sadness, Ikki lights up. ] Really? Maybe you should start your own crew! I'd join! [ IT COULD BE FUN! ] ...What's a nakama, though?
[ . . . Sabo your world is so weird. Considering she has it on good authority there's an edible island out there somewhere, this sounds remarkably reasonable. ] I don't think that's how it works at home. ...I mean, I'm pretty sure we don't have anything that eats islands! Unless we do and I just never noticed?
[ during the party ]
[FFFF not sure whether to take this seriously. But oh well.] A-ahaha, you would?! That'd be great! Er-- if you really wanna be a pirate, that is. [Scratching his cheek, thoughtfully.] I was planning to gather my own crew, once I get a lot stronger. A pirate captain should be able to protect and fight for his nakama's lives and dreams, y'know.
But, huh. Nakama... [pauses, wondering how to explain, since he has a lot of feels about this.] It's a special word for people you'd consider both friend and family rolled into one; your companions for life. A bond that no distance or circumstance can break. The kind of bond that'd make you give up your own dreams, your own life, if it could save and protect your nakama's. And at the same time, that same bond would make you wanna move forward in life and do your best in whatever you do, because no matter what, you know your nakama's there supporting and believing in you. That's what nakama is.
[Oh Ikki, you have no idea how weird. Sabo too, actually, considering he didn't get very far into it. But he hears stories, and they're all ridiculous and wonderful.] You never know! The world's always a bigger place than we first think.
[ during the party ]
[ Well, it isn't something she could really pursue in her own home, so the jury may be out on that one. ] Yeah!! Hmmm. There's not really pirates at my home, you know? But! I want to go everywhere there is, someday. I'd like to go everywhere there is here, too. [ She's not totally clear on what pirates do while in Luceti. EXPLORE? Have water balloon fights? ] Although, I could only be in your crew here because I wouldn't be there...
[ Ikki quiets down to listen to the "nakama" explanation, though. She certainly has a lot of friends and family in Luceti, but the people who come to mind for that are all those solidly in her group of "family"; the entirety of House 56, Vivi, and Soren. It makes her smile, actually. ] That's a really good word! I mean, I wish I had a word like that - but now I guess I do!! I think finding people like that is a really, really cool dream!
Right? I didn't think there were other worlds 'till I came here! And you know, I learn something new every day here. It's fun! It can also be other things, but I think mostly it's just really amazing how much there is to know!
