KA.MI.KA.ZE
Who: Precis F. Neumann, Claude C. Kenny, Shikamaru "No Cool Middle Initial" Nara
What: It smells a lot like plot!!!
When: 10/6, Evening
Where: The tunnels, at the aforementioned door
Summary: Precis can't hack the number pad on the door she found with Cheria. Time to finally call in some help.
Rating: PG? Will change as things happen!
[So, she didn't tell Shikamaru or Claude what they were doing. She didn't even wear her new sunglasses to the tunnels...all Precis told her friend and her...Shikamaru...was that she needed help with a little something, something that she found. Like always, she downplayed it as not a big deal, that they'd be done in just a few minutes.
That was far from the truth, though. Once she reached the door (she had memorized its location by now), she held out a letter for either Claude or Shikamaru to take.]
You guys should probably read this first. [She waits a second.] Oh, but if you read it, no going back now. Think you guys are ready?

[So, she's going to give the letter to Shikamaru, since he's closest. Of course, Claude will have to read it, too...]
Cheria and I came down here last month. We found something, um...new.

And rather than point he agreed to nothing, Shikamaru takes the paper. He's not bound to go back on this anyways, so might as well...
...oh. Huh. Shikamaru looks up, more serious now (if not annoyed he was dragged down here unprepared), and hands the letter off to Claude.]
That so?

Like what?

[She's already sliding on her stylish new shades. They're not the round ones she usually wears...that kind of annoys her a bit. She's considered trying to cut the lenses and see if they still worked, but it would be too big of a risk.]
You guys can't see it, but there's a door here. I've been trying to hack the passcode for days now, but my programs can't handle it at all. Whiiich, as you all know, means that no one is going to be able to hack it. So I need new ways to come up with an 8-digit number before I start trying every combination.
no subject
[Yeah, he can get that.] So you gonna lead the way or, what?
[They can work it out on the way.]

Well, nothing's really impossible, Precis. And passcodes aren't usually random. But I wonder what will happen if we are able to open it. I mean, she needs the glasses just to be able to see it.
no subject
[Ugh. Men. Why is she stuck down here with two of them? She places a hand on the wall behind her, turning to Shikamaru.]
Are you paying attention at all? I already told you. The door is right here. Only I can see it, though, 'cause of these sunglasses.
no subject
You said 'here'. In the same sense as you said 'meet me here'. Either clarify better or pass the glasses around. Don't just expect us to know shit.
[...Claude brings up a good point though. But more than worrying about if anything could be invisible, he wonders at the consequences.]

Anyway, let's get down to business. Tell us what you can, Precis. What kinds of numbers have you tried so far?

[She moves up and down, moving from standing on the tips of her toes to having her feet flat on the ground as she speaks. She's kind of bouncy sometimes, okay?]
The dates of all the missions, certain arrival dates, the dates of some of the experiments I've been able to get information on...I've also put in some statistics and the like, but still nothing. So, I've pretty much concluded it's a number I haven't seen yet, if I haven't figured it out by now.

Claude seems like a good guy though. He lets the two of them talk, head tilted just slightly in attention as he walks forward to the place Precis indicated, trying to feel out the door. Smooth tunnel wall, nothing discernible- Ah. There's the keypad. He keeps his touch feather light, so as not to punch in anything.]
...it was Davis who sent that. [He thinks of what Shiho taught him, in the code-breaking squad.] Anything from our time in Luceti would be unlikely. It's more apt to be a code that holds personal value to him.

Shikamaru rolls his eyes. But actually, if this works it probably means he and Neji weren't as careful as they thought they were.
He'll think of the implications of that later. Let's just go ahead and try this. He finds the center of the pad - that would be 5, right? - and figures out the rest from there.
0-5-1-8-1-9-9-5]

What did you try?
[Not the exact number, obviously—he's curious about its significance.]
