On the 29th, the Malnosso announce over the radios that the power cap will be lifted to a full 100%. Carol broadcasts a message.

On the 30th, the Malnosso declare Vaskoth completely lost. Those with radio access will discover that the enclosure is to be bombed.

On the 31st, survivors will have one last chance to evacuate or try to find the cure. 3PM is do or die.

[Ran Fan used her kunai to block the blade from striking her, but she didn't realize how strong the cultist was. It took more effort than she expected to hold the sword back, but she was able to kick him back.

It didn't do much other than cause him to stumble back, giving her no time to try and move Ling. The cultist was back at her, swing it's sword. This time though, Ran Fan let him get closer. She ducked, out of the way of his sword, and grabbed his arm to pull him closer to stab him in the stomach. She doesn't pull her blade straight out though; she pulls it up, leaving a gash in his chest. But that wasn't it. It was one swift movement to send him to the ground, using the few kunai she had to pin him to the ground. That should give them enough time.

Quickly, she made her way back to Ling.]

I'll carry you. We have to get you to safety.

[He couldn't even sense the cultist's fading light. There was no chi. No souls inside him. He felt dead inside. He felt like the world itself was now dead. Hollow. Carved out at the tip of a knife.

And he thought he heard someone say something.]

Fu.

[That's who it had to be, of course. Fu used to always save him when he was a kid. When he was eight and the assassin made it into the clan fortress, Ling found himself at the end of a blade. But Fu had saved him. But even though he bled, Ling didn't cry. Because Fu bled much more than he did. He always took the blows Ling couldn't.]

[Hearing her grandfather's name was enough to make Ran Fan pull away, but only in surprise. Even though her expression was hidden by her mask, her eyes were wide and full of shock.

Why his name?

It was enough to make her forget about the cultist that was pinned down behind her.]

Wha-what about him? Young Lord? What about my grandfather?
