Summary: Hiccup invited anyone who was interested to the lake for a little camping trip. Hijinks ensue!

Early on the ninth, Hiccup broadcast a short message to the journal reminding everyone about the camping trip he had planned for the weekend. The message was simple: pack your things, meet at noon in the plaza, and then they'd trek to the southern lake where they would make camp for the night. It would be chilly, but with a dragon in tow and clear skies, how bad could it be? Hiccup flies out to the lake early on the tenth to transport some camping supplies including extra tents, blankets, sleeping bags and tarps, as well as some food, before heading back to meet his fellow campers.

At the campsite itself, campers can expect to find such things including (but not limited to): fishing poles, cooking equipment (and ingredients), marshmallows, board games, card games, various sports equipment, harmonicas, et cetera. And Hiccup will definitely be trying to round everyone up for at least one round of storytelling around the fire sometime during the evening. Basically, anything campy (pun intended) can go on here. Have fun with it!

Here goes one of Hiccup's rare attempts to be a social planner. Let's see if it sinks or swims!

It's not going to be worms or something, is it? [Digging around in the dirt doesn't sound like his idea of a fun time. Unless there's a hidden puzzle there.]

[...Welp.]

Yyyyyeah...but! I-I've already got some here, soooo we don't have to go worm-hunting or anything. [He fishes a container out of his pocket.]

[That's still pretty gross!]

Oh. [He'll deal with it.] I suppose if that's the best way to do it, then there's not much to say about it.

It's the way I've always learned, at least. But sometimes you can catch them without if you'd rather not use them.

Nope! I'm going to learn to do this right from the start. Let's go!

[He'll just not think about the poor worms. Or the fish. This is going to be more complicated than he initially thought.]

Alright. If you're sure.

[Hiccup opens the worm container and pulls one out before holding it out towards Luke.]

Um...do you think you could just show me the first one? [The hook is sharp and the worm is...wriggly and Hiccup must be an expert, if he has to feed Toothless fish all the time.]

...Oh, yeah, sure. No problem. [Sorry, worm. Hiccup takes the hook on the end of Luke's line and spears the worm onto it.]

Ahh - there you go.

[Euugh.]

Thanks. I think. [He's seen this part before though, you just swing your arms back and act like you're going to toss the worm part into the water, right? Three, two, one...]

[That's the idea. Though the first cast is always hardest.]

If you want me to show you some casting technique, I can do that, too.

Really? Yeah, sure. Especially if it means I'll actually catch one.

Alright. A lot of it's just practice, but let me show you how I usually do it.

[Hiccup winds up and casts out his line - not his best cast. But its a good enough example, at least.]

Oh, all right. [Luke pulls his line back in to try again, with a little 'hup!' as he casts this time. It goes a lot further! And he looks so pleased with himself.]

Do you really need to be quiet so you don't scare away the fish?

[Hiccup grins approvingly at Luke's cast line.]

It's more about not disturbing the water. Though you don't want to shout, either. Generally, normal voice levels are okay.

[He is going to shout when he catches one and no viking boy can stop him. ...Okay maybe some of them can. Just not this one!

First though. First lesson in fishing, really. It's a lot of waiting.]

[True dat. Hiccup plops down onto the sand.]

It...could be awhile.

That's all right, I have things I can do while we wait. [True to form, he brought a book of crosswords and a pen.] Do you want to do some?

Crossword puzzles? Sure! [In his time in Luceti, Hiccup has grown rather fond of puzzles like that.]

All right! Here, I have another book. [Which he digs from his satchel and holds out to Hiccup with a grin.] A lot of people don't really care for puzzles here, I think.

Really? [Huh. With how much free time they all had, he wouldn't have thought that.] That's too bad. I think they're a lot of fun.

[He already liked Hiccup, but dragon-viking-boy just took a huge step up the ladder of Luke's opinion.]

Me too! I miss doing them as much as I used to.

Yeah? Did you do a lot back home?

All the time! Professor Layton's a whiz at puzzles and people are always asking him to help them solve one or trying to stump him. Even Scotland Yard asks him for help solving things sometimes!

[He has no idea who Scotland Yard is, but it sounds impressive.]

That's neat! So, he's a friend of yours?

The professor? I'm his apprentice! Um, but yes, we're friends too. [The most beautiful unusual friendship, they have.]
