[She's taken back a bit, and when she gathers herself she's frowning. When they reach the Rec Center she opens the door for him.]

Hey, this isn't her, your, or anybody's fault. I'm not saying you should do it again if you think you shouldn't. But it's not like everything's lost. It's not like she went home and forgot you completely.

[He heads inside the building and keeps walking so his back is to her.]

That's what you don't get, Winry. She did forget me completely. She still loves the Sokka 'core' maybe, but you're not looking at the guy she knows. It's been peaceful in her world. No more war, no more struggle, and no experiments. She's in love with a Sokka that hasn't changed, that hasn't... [Killed. Died. Done things he regrets...]

She might find out that I'm not the person she wants. Who could blame her for that?

[She closes the door behind them, but doesn't advance further into the building after that.]

Sokka, are you an idiot? Really? She loves you. Isn't that enough for you to get it? She loves you, so she'll understand. She'll understand that this place sucks, that this place throws things at you that you're not ready to handle.

[Winry runs up passed him to cut him off and poke him in the chest - just above the heart.]

But how are you supposed to help her understand when you're like this? When you're ready to give up and just let her go without even trying?

[The accusations just make him angry and he brushes her hand off.]

I'm not giving up. And I'm not an idiot. I'm trying. I'm really trying. But it isn't something easy. There's not a 'get over it' button on something like this. Not unless I want to go ask the Malnosso to make me forget everything that's happened.

Well then if you're not giving up, and not and idiot then don't sound like it! I'm not asking you to get over it. I'm saying that you're worrying about something that might not even be a problem. She might not like "this Sokka." She might not understand. You don't know until you cross that bridge. I know you're a pessimist Sokka, but this is really starting to take the cake.
