Summary: It's Thanksgiving. There's a meal and socializing. Also fun.
Rating: PG, PG-13 max? A kid got invited to this.
Considering how last minute all of this had been, Pepper was actually pretty satisfied with how things were turning out. Rogue had shown up early with helpers in tow, immediately setting to work in the kitchen. The house had been filled with delicious aromas shortly thereafter, and Pepper busied herself with the other details until guests started to arrive--at which point part of her job became keeping people out of the kitchen, per Rogue's orders.

The set up was straightforward: the dining room table was used to hold the assorted dishes, where people could fix themselves plates. A similar set up with drinks (although please, don't give alcohol to the children). Chairs set out for people to sit, since there were too many to even attempt a traditional sit down dinner. But that was fine by Pepper, who made her way through the group, making sure everyone was happy, or at least not destroying part of her house.

Better safe than sorry, with this crowd.

[Clint holds out the covered plate, peeling back the foil covering it so she can see.]

Hey Rogue. Pigs in blankets. Can't go wrong with meat wrapped in more meat.

...well. Can't go too wrong with bacon, anyway. [She makes a mental note to try one before they're reheated. She has extra fake cresent rolls she could wrap them with if they need it or - oh, maybe some cheese?]

[Why Rogue, he'd almost think that you don't have faith in his culinary abilities.]

[She doesn't know where you'd be getting that impression. Except it's completely correct.]

You don't hafta tell me twice. [She points to the free space on the counter.] Just set 'em down there, thanks.

Sure thing. [He sets the plate down on the counter, taking a moment to look over the spread.] This is pretty impressive. You get roped into cooking?

[Easiest to ignore the compliment and answer the question.]

I volunteered. Did you really wanna see a couple of billionaires makin' Thanksgiving dinner?

...good point. I'm not sure whether the result would have been hilarious or horrifying.

[No offense meant, Tony and Pepper, but... yes.]

Yeah, well - right now all I need ta worry about is if the turkey will turn out dry an' the stuffing will burn an' the mash potatoes end up lumpy.

[Shrug.

...she's not overly worried, mind.]

I'm sure it'll be fine. And hey, my last Thanksgiving consisted of takeout and popcorn so this is already an improvement.

I dunno... [She moved to check the potatoes] how was the popcorn?

Average. Just the microwave stuff fixed with butter.

[Rogue made a face.]

Then you're right. Hate ta sound like an optimist, but there's no where to go but up.

You're goin' for the pity shot? [Rogue teased.] I'm already feedin' ya, what more do you want?

Well, I already have the pleasure of your company so... no, this is pretty perfect.

Ha! Flatterer.

[She flashed him a quick grin.]

That's not gonna get you an advanced shot at the pie, ya know.

Hand on heart, I am telling the absolute truth.

[He winks cheekily at her.]

Damn, there goes that plan. Just make sure the kids don't eat it all before I get a shot.

Sure you are. [She sighed and shook her head.] An' it ain't the kids you hafta worry about.

Yeah, but I can get mad at Stark. I just feel bad if I get mad at kids over pie.

[Congratulations, Clint! You win a small laugh.]

Well, there should be enough. Mr. Grimm brought some too.

[And she made Tony an extra one that he is only to eat if he behaves and stays out of her kitchen. He'll get it if he misbehaves too - over the head. He does not know this yet, however.]

[He will take that laugh as a success, thankyou!]

Yeah? He was in the kitchen for a really long time this morning. Guess that must've been what he was making.

I'm surprised you didn't try ta filch one.

I would have, but Coulson and Natasha were forcing me into nice clothes and forcibly disarming me.

[touchofrogue]

[Her eyebrows arched and the beginnings of a smile threatened.]

Forcibly disarming you?

Well, they said that My bow would take up too much space when there were gonna be this many people around, and guns were just impolite and no, I can't bring knives and using them to cut food is not an excuse, do you not remember what you've done with them on missions?

[So he's exaggerating a little bit, but the general idea is the same.]
