Happy Happy Turkey Day

Summary: It's Thanksgiving. There's a meal and socializing. Also fun.
Rating: PG, PG-13 max? A kid got invited to this.
Considering how last minute all of this had been, Pepper was actually pretty satisfied with how things were turning out. Rogue had shown up early with helpers in tow, immediately setting to work in the kitchen. The house had been filled with delicious aromas shortly thereafter, and Pepper busied herself with the other details until guests started to arrive--at which point part of her job became keeping people out of the kitchen, per Rogue's orders.

The set up was straightforward: the dining room table was used to hold the assorted dishes, where people could fix themselves plates. A similar set up with drinks (although please, don't give alcohol to the children). Chairs set out for people to sit, since there were too many to even attempt a traditional sit down dinner. But that was fine by Pepper, who made her way through the group, making sure everyone was happy, or at least not destroying part of her house.

Better safe than sorry, with this crowd.

"Miss Potts." He lifts his cup to her with a rocky smile. Pleasant woman, quick and clever to arrange this so nice and neat. Well. As nice and neat as something can be with all these people involved. "Glad t'be invited."

"Pepper, please." Especially at something like this, formal addresses feel entirely wrong even if they are polite. "Are you having a good time so far?"

"Miss Pepper." Cheeky, sometimes, can be Ben Grimm. It's said with a tinge of humor. "I am. S'good t'have everyone together on a holiday."

"Very cute." Pepper would take it, and she nodded when Ben confirmed he was enjoying himself. "I think so too. I'm just glad everything's come together so well, especially since it was all last minute. Thanks in no small part to Rogue."

"Aunt Petunia always said so." The grin widened. "Y'both did a great job. Nice spread, real warm and cozy. Even room for me t'move around without knock'n into people or things...so weird t'see that girl as a teen."

"Is it? I've only ever known her here." But considering how many of them Sue had recognized from her world, Pepper isn't surprised to learn there's another version of Rogue there as well.

"Wouldn't surprise me. From what I hear from Clint mutants are either a lot better at keep'n to themselves, or haven't become a big thing just yet in your world. In mine she and her group came right up in the middle of a lotta different messes, try'n t'sort it out. Nice woman. Throws a mean punch."

Or a third possibility: they didn’t exist. But even before Luceti, where the impossible seemed commonplace, Pepper had learned there were aspects of her world that were entirely unbelievable, and entirely true all the same. After what had happened in New York, it was a lot harder to think that mutants weren’t in their future in some form or fashion.

“I haven’t seen her fight, but it wouldn’t surprise me.” Not given Rogue’s attitude. More often than not Pepper felt off balance around her, to put it lightly.
