Happy Happy Turkey Day

Summary: It's Thanksgiving. There's a meal and socializing. Also fun.
Rating: PG, PG-13 max? A kid got invited to this.
Considering how last minute all of this had been, Pepper was actually pretty satisfied with how things were turning out. Rogue had shown up early with helpers in tow, immediately setting to work in the kitchen. The house had been filled with delicious aromas shortly thereafter, and Pepper busied herself with the other details until guests started to arrive--at which point part of her job became keeping people out of the kitchen, per Rogue's orders.

The set up was straightforward: the dining room table was used to hold the assorted dishes, where people could fix themselves plates. A similar set up with drinks (although please, don't give alcohol to the children). Chairs set out for people to sit, since there were too many to even attempt a traditional sit down dinner. But that was fine by Pepper, who made her way through the group, making sure everyone was happy, or at least not destroying part of her house.

Better safe than sorry, with this crowd.

"I'm always hopeful. An optimist. Ask anyone," she said, glancing around and casually laying a hand on a wooden spoon. "Like right now, I'm hopin' you're not gonna make me use whatever else comes ta hand to chase you outta here like an eight-year-old boy."

"I was kind of hoping you'd see reason." Reason being he wanted this pie, so she should give it to him. It's perfectly logical.

"Where'd ya get a dumb idea like that," she said, mouth pressed into a flat line. "Out."

Ignoring that, he pressed on. "So, what's it going to take? I'm listening."

[touchofrogue]

"Don't make me count ta ten."

She might have already started counting.

[alloys]

"What happens if you count to ten?"

He kind of wanted to stick around to find out.

[touchofrogue]

"We discover how fast you can run."

[alloys]

...You don't expect him to leave with an offer like that, do you?

"I guess we'll see, then."

[touchofrogue]

"6...5...4..."

[alloys]

He just waited, tapping his fingertips together.

[touchofrogue]

"3...2..."

She didn't wait for 'one.' On 'two,' she grabbed the mobile faucet on the sink and moved to spray him with water.

His hands went up defensively. "Whoa, whoa. Let's not resort to drastic measures, here. If you do that, you know I'll have to retaliate, and you wouldn't want to be responsible for a full-on Thanksgiving food fight, would you?"

[touchofrogue]

"You want drastic measures?" She put her hand on her hip and cocked it. "How long do ya think it'll take Pepper ta get in here once I call out her name?"
