Happy Happy Turkey Day

Summary: It's Thanksgiving. There's a meal and socializing. Also fun.
Rating: PG, PG-13 max? A kid got invited to this.
Considering how last minute all of this had been, Pepper was actually pretty satisfied with how things were turning out. Rogue had shown up early with helpers in tow, immediately setting to work in the kitchen. The house had been filled with delicious aromas shortly thereafter, and Pepper busied herself with the other details until guests started to arrive--at which point part of her job became keeping people out of the kitchen, per Rogue's orders.

The set up was straightforward: the dining room table was used to hold the assorted dishes, where people could fix themselves plates. A similar set up with drinks (although please, don't give alcohol to the children). Chairs set out for people to sit, since there were too many to even attempt a traditional sit down dinner. But that was fine by Pepper, who made her way through the group, making sure everyone was happy, or at least not destroying part of her house.

Better safe than sorry, with this crowd.

Wow. There really were no words. Seriously, none. Pepper spent a solid minute trying to come up with them.

Finally, she just shook her head. Better to focus on the fact that Howard had brought something to compliment Tony's side dish of choice.

"Of course not. How considerate of you."

He shrugs. Ok yea Pepper is definitely mad. He hopes she won't hold it against him too badly. She is Tony's girlfriend after all and he has to be worse.

"What can I say? But don't worry, I also brought wine like I promised. The milk is mostly for Tony's sake."

“Oh, I could think of a few things.”  Not any that he was likely to say, but Pepper could come up with them.  It was better to just give up, however, and accept the offering for whatever it was.
 
“I’m sure he’ll appreciate it.”  At least on some level.  He might also be confused by it, but still.  “And the wine, although Tony’s more of a scotch drinker.”
 
Which Howard may or may not already know.

"Wine is most appropriate on holiday occasions. Unless we're talking about Christmas. Christmas is eggnog."

He has his alcoholic of the season down, ok. He simply knows when it is most appropriate.

"Besides, drinking too much scotch makes the taste dull. I never like the next glass of scotch as much as I liked the first, if you know what I mean."

Pepper can only grin as Howard gives her lessons on holiday drinking. No matter how many times she sees it, she doubts she’ll ever stop being amazed at the parallels between father and son.

“I’ll try and remember all of that.” Her current drink of choice being cider with rum, possibly putting her in violation of Howard’s rules. “I’m not so big on scotch myself. Usually I’ll have wine or a cocktail.”

It is a horrible violation, but he won't say anything about it. It isn't quite December yet and so apple cider is perfectly fine.

"Then you should try the wine I brought," he says, lifting up the bottle to show to Pepper. "It's from Switzerland. I remembered having some when I went there, and it is some of the best I've ever had."
