It's a Birthday Bash

Who: Anyone and everyone!
What: Beast's surprise birthday party.
When: January 17, noon.
Where: House 17
Summary: Belle is throwing Beast a surprise birthday party and the whole village is invited.
Rating: PG?

Belle wakes up early in the morning with a rush of excitement. Today is the day she's been preparing for all week. All she can do now is send Beast off for the morning and hope that the volunteers who agreed to help would be able to show up after all.

Quickly, she makes up a list of chores for Beast to do around the village that would be sure to keep him busy until the party is set up. Once he's out the door she begins taking out the decorations she's collected and sets them out where they can be seen. After that, she consults Helios' cookbook and makes preparations to start making the cake.

For everyone dropping by to help Belle set up. Come right on in, the door is open! The decorations are in boxes lining the front hall. For those bringing their culinary skills, two long tables have been pushed together to make up a buffet table.

Meanwhile Belle will be rushing around, making sure everyone know what to do.

[True to his word, Obi-Wan arrives quite early in the day to begin decorating. He'll also be happy to help out anybody else in need of assistance.

He's just that kind of guy.]

[Once Obi-Wan is busy not occupying himself, Beast will be standing near the fireplace - out of the crowd, but not too hidden either. He is staring at the large number of people, still quite bewildered that Belle set this up for him.]

[Oh, he sees you trying to hide at your own party, bro, and he is having none of it.

None.]

"Beast, my friend! How are you enjoying your party?"

[What? He was not trying to hide from his own- ohhelloObi-Wan.]

Oh, I-I, uh... v, v-very much.

[As he rubs his paws over and over.]

"I'm glad to hear it. It was rather enjoyable to put together."

[Sora is currently helping out right not actualyl. He's trying to set up one of the banners.]

Belle? Is this good?

[Hearing her name, she turns to survey Sora's work. Belle considers the banner for a moment before responding.]

Can you maybe pull up the left side a little bit more? It's a tad lop-sided.

Oh, It is.

[He'll go to pull it up a bit...but as he does he falls right over.]

Ow. I'm okay.

The tables are set up with foods and drinks of all kinds. Grab a bite to eat or just stand around and mingle!

[Loki chooses to stand around instead of doing the mingling-thing. Don't worry, he replaced some of the drinks with vinegar.

He's got this.

And in the meanwhile he is enjoying a piece of pie.]

[Belle comes by the buffet table to re-fresh a few of the snack bowls. While doing that she spots Little Loki and goes over to greet him.]

Hello! I'm so glad you came.

[Loki is already busy with his second piece of pie when Belle approaches him.]

Thank you.

[He nods shortly.]

I do think that this day of birth can use more everything. Like balloons, and silly string and melodies.

[Always buffet for Hermes. He'd probably be here even if he wasn't invited--but hey, princess are supposed to be around talking animals. He's only following convention by hoarding up the food adn relocating it into his stomach.]

[While reaching out for another square, Beast snatches his paw back in reflex as soon as it touches something not warm and creamy but cold and slimy. When he turns his head to see it was... oh mon Dieu what is that?! Is it a guest or is it some kind of illness trying to spoil the food?]

[Hermes automatically recoils at the strange touch, sliding over to the end of the table. The food, of course, comes with him.]

What are? [He's snapped to a confused sickly yellow, but he's not running just yet. If bears can be people then maybe this is also people and thus not worth the effort of fleeing.]

[He shrinks back even more when he sees this wobbly thing move and... where did the food go? Why is it turning yellow what is this even doing here?]

I-i-it's d-disgusting! [He says it loud enough in the hopes that someone will hear him and be able to do something about it, looking around frantically to see if anyone did. Not noticing much difference, he opens his mouth to repeat what he...

Wait, did it just talk?]

H... huh?

[If anyone is wanting to see or talk to Beast, the buffet table as always is the likely place to find him. For most of the party, he will be standing near the edge of it, picking some of the little goodies here and there while he stares in amazement at the number of people who had come.

This is much bigger than last year's party, and many of which he does not even know. Yet they're all here for him... and it was all thanks to Belle. Belle. He didn't think she cared that much... he could've seen a special dinner, maybe? But a party from her? That's too much to handle. So he's just going to keep on standing here giving everyone shy, slightly-embarrassed sideways glances.]

[A familiar round puffy thing is sitting on the edge of the buffet table. He hops up and down excitedly and babbles at Beast, not really noticing how nervous Beast looks at his own party.]

Puu buu! Puu buu! Happy Buuday, Beast!

[He flinches sharply when he spots something out of the corner of his eye - it's not another strange creature is it?! - oh no it's just his penpal.]

O-oh, th... th-thank you, uh... Fat... ty... cakes. [And is that name ever awkward to say out loud.]

Puu! You're welcome! Are you having a good time? [Well, Fattycakes is kind of ignoring the obvious, isn't he.]

[He is quite relieved of that, really.]

I-I, yes. It is a really... wonderful... party.

[With so many people to entertain, it's well into the party before Belle realizes that Beast is hiding out by the buffet table. When she finally tracks him down she tries to get him to introduce himself around to people.]

Beast, really. This party is for you. The least you can do is greet to guests.

[Upon hearing Belle, his initial instinct is to just shrink into the corner more.]

I... I, uh... h-hello... Belle.

[Well, Rudy definitely showed up! And hey, you can't really show up to a party without wishing the honored person a happy birthday, right? Despite the number of people attending, it doesn't take too long to spot Beast at all. With a friendly wave, Rudy greets him.]

Hey, happy birthday.

H-hello... [Blink.] Rudy. [He is still amazed at just how many people came... even ones he hardly sees!]

Th... thank you.

[Fattycakes has somehow gotten onto the buffet table for the sake of better access to the food and to be seen more easily than he would be on the ground. Now this is his kind of party! Food, festivities, friends... that's a party any Puffski could get behind!]

Furniture has been pushed out of the way in the main room, making way for a decent sized dance floor for party-goers to let loose and get their adrenaline pumping.

[When he's not fiddling with his fireworks or keeping an eye on Gregor, this is where Loki will be. Even not drunk, he'll still be happy to dance with nearly anyone.]

[After being cooped up in his winter room for weeks, Don needs to burn off some energy, and he doesn't care how ridiculous he looks. In fact his dancing looks a lot like martial arts, but he's obviously enjoying himself.]

[With dancing like that (not to mention the appearance), it is not difficult for Beast to spot his turtle friend, and he manages to send him a comment when he's near his place.]

Don... y-you can dance?!

[He laughs.]

I think most people would say otherwise, but thanks.

B-but you... you are moving like... dancing... [And he's on a dance floor and all...] Y-, you're welcome.

A table has been placed by the door for guests to set their presents. Those will be opened later on.

[Loki does not know this Beast at all but he did bring a present. Because a birthday is not a birthday without a present.

That is why Loki has wrapped up a book about hunting. Because Beasts should love hunting weaker beasts. Therefore it is the perfect gift.]

[Spock had a gift for both Bell and Beast...

A wooden chess set with the added checker set. There was a note attached thanking them both, especially Beast for his assistance when he was... not himself.]

For party-goers that stay for awhile, you're in for a treat! Loki has prepared some special fireworks for the occasion.

[This is Loki's first attempt at a project such as this, though he found the process of making the fireworks and adding in a bit of magic very interesting. Fun, even. He'll have to keep playing with the methods.

For the most part, the fireworks are fairly ordinary aerial shells, his initial exploration of the simply chemistry and physics of it. There are a variety of types of aerial "flowers" and a wide range of colors. Toward the end of the display, things get a bit more whimsical and strange. One firework produces a form that looks rather like an anemone, tentacles waving. Another looks like a tame supernova.

The last of the fireworks is one he's quite proud of; it makes a green and gold dragon that circles the sky overhead three times before flying apart into a series of colorful, miniature explosions.]

[A secret fan of fireworks since he first saw them here in Luceti, Beast's nerves are easily clouded over by the sheer visible joy he has over these colourful shiny things appearing at his party. His party! Anyone sitting near him will be able to see the joy clearly marked on his face as he gazes grinningly at the spectacle.]

[Well, thanks to Rogue, Loki knows who Beast is and isn't the least bit surprised at how he looks. (Though it's not as if he gets hung up on such things anyway, all things considered.)

He watches his own display with a discerning eye, general pleased with it for a first effort, but already noting where he might make improvements if he does this again, and sorting out more ideas for different sorts of fireworks.

It's good to see that the others seem to be enjoying it, he supposes, though that isn't really what motivated him. But it's always nice to be appreciated, right? So when all is said and done he offers Beast a polite, almost regal nod, and a fairly pleased smile.]

[Enraptured by the display, he doesn't catch the gesture at first. But then right after the nod is finished, he suddenly notices and turns his head towards Loki. He is the one who made the display here? He can already hear Cogsworth's words. "That there calls for some gratitude!" So he gives a toothy grin back.]

[Another nod of acknowledgment for that and a smile, though he doesn't speak until the fireworks are done with.

Really, he's not in the mood to talk, but with Thor here now he needs all the potential allies he can get in the hopes that he'll be able to keep some of them once the blond horror starts working them over with his hail fellow well met act.]

A happy birthday, I hope.

Thank you! [The enthusiasm is clear in his voice. But then his face changes to a look of question.] Do... do we kn-know...?

No, I don't believe we've had the pleasure. I am acquainted with Belle.

[He does a small, graceful bow.]

Loki of Asgard.

[Oooh. These are definitely the best fireworks ever. Hermes watches in glee, unconsciously changing his skin to match the brightest of the sky's current colors. The dragon in particular is spectacular. The only fireworks he's seen are the New Year and Fourth of July bursts that peep over the top of the apartment buildings twice a year, and those were never as spectacular as this.]

[And in turn, Loki watches the little octopus with curiosity. That's certainly a new one on him.]
