Pepper jumps a bit at the contact, too caught up in those very thoughts to realize Teddy is there until he startles her.  Once she turns and sees him, however, she’s sighs quietly, tension bleeding out of her posture as she shakes her head.
 
“Sorry.”  He can probably guess the reason for her distraction, especially given his opening line.  Pepper reaches up, placing a hand over his in gratitude for the support, and manages a small smile.  “Is it that obvious?  I’ve been trying not to look like I’m slowly losing my mind.”
