The lack of Loki does not go unnoticed to Thor. He had heard him rise early and shower, but he rarely rises quite so early himself. By the time he awakens, Loki is long gone. He does not question that either, though he does wonder what he could be doing.

Eventually, the questioning does become a sort of concern. Thor goes about his business in town as he generally does, but he's keeping an eye out for the younger boy on the offchance he'll be up to mischief.

Mischief indeed, he must think. The glow from the mountain attracts his attention quite quickly. He's been on guard as of late, it certainly doesn't seem like a standaard daily occurance. He feels it would be safer to inspect it than let it pass unnoticed. Thankfully, his hammer makes for a speedy trip, but he is none to happy upon arrival. He drops his hammer with a loud thud, lurching forward and barking out Loki's name in surprise and alarm.

"LOKI!" He narrows his eyes, finding it hard to stare directly at the figure with the power of the glow. He knows no good can come of this, he only hopes he isn't too late to stop it.

Billy isn't far behind; he'd notices something sort of off about the air today, an unpracticed magic that is both familiar and unusual at the same time, and it's coming from - or at least connected to - the building he lives in. He doesn't know everyone that lives there, of course, but he does try to know who the magic users in town are, for the sake of professional interest...

...and yes, it's definitely familiar. But it doesn't trigger any kind of action from him until the spell is actually being cast.

Like Thor, Billy is drawn to the light on the mountain, and a slight magic probing makes him wince at how... off it feels. He's still in training himself but he knows the feeling of a mucked-up spell. Just in case, he summons his costume and teleports to where the spell is being cast, and what he finds there only makes him feel more alarmed.

Loki. The little one. Whatever he's casting - and he has no idea what it is - is way, way too advanced for him. Relieved to find Thor there, he rushes over, eyes narrowed. "What's he doing!?"

"You have made a foolish mistake, Brother. You know as well as I that this is a path ending in failure only." His voice is raised, but the fact that he's not getting the attention of the boy concerns him.

Thor is circling Loki as Billy arrives. Generally, he'd be quite quick to rush in and start smashing his surroundings, maybe even grab Loki and shake him. However, something does indeed feel off. Thor is trying to figure out whether he'll hurt Loki if he grabs him and pulls him back from the magic.

His head jerks upward as Billy speaks and he's quick to stride toward him. He doesn't like to admit that he's not the most knowledgable in a situation, but he knows Billy was involved in the portal scheme with good reason. "He is being a fool." He mutters, giving Loki a look of scrutiny before turning to Billy, his voice sounding increasingly urgent. "Sorcery is not within my realm of knowledge- I cannot say for sure. What I know is that we must act quickly. Is it safe to touch him, Billy?"

"You can't touch him, there's a force field." Billy approaches cautiously, hands lifted and glowing blue as he summons his own magic; they spark with blue electricity as it connects with the dome of power surrounding Loki, resisting, and he half-flinches but doesn’t draw away. It’s a strong barrier, true enough, and a magic he's not familiar with, but he focuses intently on it, chanting quietly under his breath for a moment - ”IwanttobreakthebarrierIwanttobreakthebarrierIwanttobreakthebarrier-” - until he hears a mighty crack, his magic breaching the shield. It crumbles into disconnected energy and fades away, and he glances worriedly back at Thor, gesturing somewhat helplessly. He just hopes it isn’t too late to stop whatever is happening. Maybe if he stabilizes it...

Leaving Loki for Thor to deal with, Billy straightens up and begins his chanting anew, this time shifting his focus and therefore his magic on the spell Loki is casting.

”IwanttostopthespellIwanttostopthespellIwanttostopthespellIwanttostopthespell-”

Thor resists the urge to roar back at Loki in response. He's been better at keeping his patience today, and it's alreaady clear that the boy can't seem to identify them. His words would fall on literally deaf ears!

When Billy approaches, Thor does as well. He holds his own arms out, but he can already see this isn't a barrier torn down by brute strength alone. He simply braces himself and watches the other man from the corner of his eye, preparing for the sign to move.

Once the barrier is given, Thor barely hestitates in thrusting himself forward, placing his hands on Loki's waist in an attempt to drag him down. It's about then he gets a proper sight of the damage to his wings and he lets out a low growl of frustration.

"What have you done, brother.." He doesn't expect an answer to that, he's just going to get a better grip of Loki. "You must STOP, Loki." He demands, hoping he hears that one.

Billy grimaces, ignoring Loki's words - indeed, ignoring what Thor is doing as well - in favour of repeating his phrase again and again, trying desperately to wrap his magic around the entire area and swallow this strange, harmful new magic. It's powerful stuff, difficult to contain, but he won't give up,not as long as Loki's in danger. The sound of his voice makes it obvious that he's in pain. He quickens the pace of his chanting, speaking louder, the blue fire around him intensifying. This has to work...

"IwantittostopIwantittostopIwantittostopIwantittostop...!!"

The scream of course has Thor easing up on the pulling, but he does not release Loki. Of course, the magic will do the pulling for him, but he refuses to let go. He is certain if he will the result will only be more painful. He shoots Billy a concerned look, but he chooses not to interrupt him whilst he's clearly focusing hard on his magic.

Instead, he keeps his eyes fixed on Loki, trying to chide him in an even tone as if he's done nothing more than spill shaken milk on the carpet. "Loki, you must listen. If you do not put a stop to this, the consequences will be dire. You will be in a most terrible state of pain. You must stop. As your older brother I demand it."

The last words are spoken in that all to fearsome solemn tone. It is indeed Thor's most serious voice. The one reserved for urgent occasions.

Loki's voice breaks through his focus a little, and Billy falters in his spell, lifting his head to look directly at Loki and his spell, though he doesn't release his own magic. It's resisting him, but he can feel something breaking through. He's not sure if he's just stabilizing it so it doesn't outright kill Loki or if he's actively breaking it down. Unfamiliar magic is tricky, and he's not sure if his is going to trump it.

But his magic is based on belief, so... he has to believe that he can do it. Can't hurt to get a little support, though, so-

"Loki- Loki, you have to stop! Just let it go, it's your spell, you can control it! Remember what we talked about!? It isn't working, it's going to kill you if you don't...!"

Loki's words are worrisome, though- if he really can't stop the spell, then Billy will have to do it forcefully. And he's honestly not sure what that'll do... assuming he even can.

No. Belief. I can. I will.

Thor is somewhat glad to have gained more of a response from Loki through his perseverance. If he can get him to respond, perhaps he can talk more sense into him, particularly now that he's being more coherent.

"Your strength of will is more influential than that!" He growls, not at all willing to allow Loki to give up or, heaven forbid, have him not try at all. "I will not return without you." He hisses through his teeth, tightening his grip.

He falls silent as Billy speaks, recognising that Billy has a better understanding of this magic and, indeed, this situation. Particularly given that he's known this Loki longer than Thor is. He will, however, chime in with a vote of confidence.

"Billy is right, Loki. You must try!"

The words give Billy a bit of hope, and after a moment, he can feel the difference, too- the spell is no longer resisting him as much, now that the end goals seem to match, and with renewed determination he gives his own magic another push, chanting louder.

"IwantittostopIwantittostopIwantittostopIwantittostopNOW...!"

There's a burst of light, one final clash of magic, and both spells break at once, bursting out around them and dissipating into nothingness. Billy drops to his knees, winded and weary, but mostly grateful. It's over; hopefully this means Loki will be okay.

At least until the lectures begin, and he's already planning one of his own.

Thor is equally hopeful, and he nods as Loki speaks. Though his expression remains stern and fixed on Loki, his voice has calmed some. "Do what is right, Loki." He adds, refusing to so much as glance away from his younger brother.

There's some resistance as the spell breaks, it's a small bit of a struggle to keep his hands on Loki. This is Thor, of course. There is little in this world that will inspire him to give up hope. His hands are still on the smaller boy's waist as it all begins to dissipate, hopefully guiding him to the ground.

He remains uncommonly silent, waiting to know Loki is alright before he begins to verbalise the speeches he's considering giving.

After a pause Billy manages to get back to his feet, staggering over to stand with them and rubbing a hand sorely at his head. He feels sick with worry and anger and weariness all at once, and he's not in a charitable mood right now, but he can see the state Loki's in now that he's closer. It's enough to curb his words- a little, anyway.

"Idiot... what the hell do you think you were doing? That spell was way too advanced for you... where did you even get it?"

Once Thor's hands leave Loki's waist, one of them is placed roughly on his shoulder to straighten him up. He isn't intentionally hurting him, but he's being a little carelessly stern in the action.

As Billy speaks, he remains silent, but the look on his face promises that there will be words later. It's as if he's saving it for a better time, letting Billy have the stage for now.

Loki's tone is enough to make Billy's anger fizzle a little, and instead of continuing to ask questions, he merely scowls quietly and leans back on his knees, scuffing a hand through his hair. He's got plenty more that ought to be said, but it's probably best to give Loki a moment to breathe and ease back into post-spell reality first.

He mumbles something unintelligible to himself and half-turns away, focusing his attention on the symbols on the ground - god, is that blood? - to try and make sense of them. Loki's all yours, Thor.

Thor looks none too pleased at the comment from Loki, but surprisingly he seems to heed it. He summons his hammer into his hand wordlessly and hooks an arm around Loki so he can hoist him up without being too rough with him.

"As you wish." He retorts, his voice cold and stern. "We will speak of it later." He glances down Thori as he slinks, deciding it must know of their home. One last look is given to Billy before he nods deeply, an indication of thanks and that this will probably be discussed in the future.

With that, he's throwing his hammer upward and flying off.
