[ Astrid has to stare at her victim just now. That much? What was he doing with all of it? Why didn't he go to the store where things were free?

So many questions, so little time. Still, she may as well help look around - she's less interested in the items than she is the person in question, but he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. ]

Odin's beard, that much? Impressive. Well, maybe something in here would...equal all that.

[ She'll just...go through some drawers over here. ] I wouldn't be surprised. He's fairly dreadful. But you know, I hear dreadful things about your boss, too - that's what we get for being in our line of work.

Toilet paper is a very valuable resource, of course, and a valuable loan deserves valuable interest. Still, a man never quite knows how much he needs his toilet paper until he finds himself sore wanting. And when that happens... well, you know what they say about desperate times. [And the monocled man just happened to be in the restroom too during this time of need. How convenient is that?

He opens the nearest door and takes a look in.] People in our line of work, as you say, are so tragically misunderstood. I can hardly walk the streets without fear of being harassed by that Wolfbatman fellow.

[ Axe snorts. That set up...is this guy implying he makes sure there isn't enough and then swoops in? Although really, she wouldn't be surprised. Never can tell with the mafia...

Aha. A pen in the drawer. ...Only 136 to go, good lord. ] Forget about Wolfbatman - I normally have to deal with the sparkly magical girls.

[ gah, the sparkly magical girls. Abyssmal's enemies are the least manly. ] And if it isn't them, there's another hero of some sort popping out of the woodwork...Luceti's really going downhill.

[ TO THE SIDE OF GOOD, or something. ]

[He nods in sympathy. The sparkly magical girls... That's rough, buddy. He pulls a package of toilet paper from a closet. 6 rolls down.]

There was once a time when I could extort a man in open daylight like any free man. Now we resort to back alley dealings and moonlight raids like common urchins. What ever happened to the dignity of the profession?

[ Next drawer. Man, if she weren't a henchwoman, she might feel a bit bad about raiding some poor sap's supplies. Luckily she's evil-aligned so it doesn't matter!

Astrid's giving her own sympathetic look towards the monocled man. Times are tough! ] Who knows? It seems like these days every other teenaged girl is getting some magical contract to fight evil.

Do they ever consider fighting for evil? No. We need better PR, or something. [ Alternately better healthcare plans or employers less likely to double-cross. Those would also be perks. ]

[If he weren't such a villain he might have reservations about leaving this man forever penless because now how will he do written puzzles?? But he is such a villain, so!

He turns to Astrid and raises a scholarly finger.] Now see here. You mustn't label us as 'evil' -- that only contributes to the prejudice we face all too often. Like the yin of yin and yang, we are simply one half of a balanced nature.

[ Oh, geeze. Philosophy. It's never been her strong point - which is why she's a hatchet woman for hire.

Astrid looks more than a little unimpressed, but shrugs. ] As long as it doesn't balance too far in the opposite direction, I can accept that.

I prefer this job to that one, anyway. [ No way would she be caught dead in a sparkly sailor suit. NEVER. ]

To be sure. I notice there's been a rather alarming trend of outlandish costumes among the do-gooders these days. I fear they're beginning to lose their sense.

[ Yes, if nothing else team Evil - sorry, Monocle, team Yin - was better dressed. Mostly. Some costumes on their side were just plain bad, but you couldn't say a man in a top hat wasn't well dressed and Axe's black outfit was simple and unflashy.

Beginning to lose their sense? When's the last time you saw a do-gooder dressed in anything not ridiculous, Monocle? Face it, our side of the balanced scale thing got all the fashion sense.

Ha ha, you have me there. If I must be honest, though, I'd say your friend Abyssmal treads a dangerous line between functional and gaudy. I don't suppose you could throw in a helpful comment about that sometime? It would be for the betterment of our kind, frankly.
