[It's hard being this nice to everyone, but Rei's managing quite well. Because, you see your normally quiet, reserved magical girl has just learned that she has a father! A wonderful, kind, loving father who showers her with affection and it's affecting her mood. Magic lessons, new spellbooks, sweets, everything a budding teenage magician could possibly want. He may or may not have some dark secret reason for doing it, but he hasn't told her and she's just happy to have finally found out who her real dad is. Not that bastard back home, no, he's just a pretender. And she has the sneaking suspicion there might be other relatives here she hasn't found out about yet. A half-sister perhaps?

She'll practically be glowing as she goes around town, gathering up things at the shop, the very model of a sweet teenage girl. Basket under one arm, she'll be giving candies and cookies to her friends and being a Rei of sunshine for anyone who stops to talk to her.

Of course...being too nice has it's downsides. A beautiful girl like that is bound to attract some creeps, like Okita Souji, and to keep her safe later in the weekend Rei will be kidnapped by Cliff Fittir and hidden away from that creeper!

[Some time before the kidnapping]

Hi, Rei.

[Max spots her when she enters the castle, the newest addition to their little family. Helios had been so happy to find his long lost daughter and Max has to admit, she makes the place a bit more cheerful, even if they have to keep their more unsavoury magical activities hidden. For now at least.

He was sure that soon she'd see the (heh) light.]

You're back quickly. I hope everything's okay.

[faithfulflame]

Hello, Max.

[Rei sweeps in with a cheery little wave for her father's friend. He's such a nice person too, completely not evil at all, and she can't help but be fond of him. He makes Helios so very happy. And that makes her happy. So. He must be good. Like an almost-uncle.

She tosses her arms around him and gives him a hug, of course.]

Everything's fine. It's just getting dark out, and with these strange things going on outside I thought I should come home before nightfall.

[abjurer]

[It's difficult to resist that cheery smile, even with the darkness in his soul. He grins back, stumbling back a pace as she hugs him, and hugging her back just as tightly. They're family after all.]

Ah, that's the smart thing to do. Wouldn't expect anything less from Helios's daughter.

Ah- strange things? Nothing too bad, I hope?

[Yay hugs! She smiles up at him, too, looking a little wistful. Even with the darkness she can vaguely sense...he's family.]

I'd hope not. I don't want to worry him. Not after I finally found him.

[She frowns slightly]

I'm not sure. There's been this strange girl following me around town all day.

[abjurer]

[He smiles back, starting to guide her back into the castle (don't touch the walls! They tend to wobble, just a little)]

You know he'd do anything to protect you.

[And bring as much murderous ruin as is permitted on daytime TV to the ones who hurt her.]

A girl? What does she look like? I could... talk to her if you want.

[faithfulflame]

[Well she lets herself be led inside, of course. She trusts Max, err...Uncle Max now.]

I know. And I'd do anything to protect him. And you too, Max.

[She slips an arm around him and heads inside.]

As...for the girl, I think it's Souji-san. She looks like him, at least. Have you met him?

[abjurer]

[He closes the doors behind them both. They close with an ominous creak and a bang, the shadows deepening.]

I'm glad to hear it. You know I'll protect you too.

[He listens curiously to her explanation, a small frown on his lips.]

I don't think I have. I'll have to mention this to Helios.

[I guess sometime before the kidnapping as well.]

[ It's been a good day for the most part. Rei had been out and about for a good portion of the afternoon so that Helios could get some of his magic and spells done. But it's only when Rei returns that he'll come out of his study with an otherwise cheerful disposition on his features. ]

Rei there you are. I was wondering where you went. Did you get those sweets like I asked you to? I do hope they still had some fresh donuts, the bakery does make almost the best there is here.

[ A dark inner center he may have but Rei was always able to bring out the best in him when they were together. He may be conducting so darker experiments behind her back, but Helios hopes one day she'll take over the family business and be just like him when it comes to her studies. ]

[Aw yiss]

[faithfulflame]

[She walks right up to him and holds out her basket like the good, dutiful daughter she is.]

Of course, papa. They had the ones you like and everything.

[She peers around him, a strangely acrid smell in the air]

Is...everything alright? Did one of your experiments go wrong again?

[ Helios will take the basket and give Rei a light kiss on the top of her head. A soft smile touches his lips as he proceeds to look through that basket. ]

Wonderful. Today's off to a good start already.

[ Helios will pause as he takes a bite of one of those donuts. He'll look over at the room eyes narrowing. ]

No not at all. Nothing to worry about. Do you have any plans today?

Bad Dad

Oh, alright.

[She watches expectantly, hoping she did well]

No, I have no plans. Why?

>:[ He was born bad!

[folklorist]

[ He gives her a pleased smile and a slight nod of his head. ]

Oh, no reason. I was just wondering is all. I'll be a bit...busy for most of the day. But perhaps we could go out to Seventh Heaven for some dinner, how does that sound?

Such a bad dad

[She bows her head dutifully]

Of course, papa. That sounds very nice.

One of those days...

[He couldn't trust Okita Souji-- and that was a fact. The swordsman was too flighty, too deceptive, and too impulsive for anyone to be safe around, and Cliff had a hunch that he would cause problems from the moment they met. General poking and teasing he could tolerate, but stalking a cheerful young woman in the middle of the day?

It was unforgivable.

That was why he stalked Rei's stalker just long enough to find an opening before he slipped into the shadows around the plaza. At the right moment in Rei's wanderings, he reached grabbed her from behind and pulled her into the shadows. The hand clapped lightly over her mouth was just a formality-- he didn't expect her to fight too much.]

Hey.

There's this creep-o that's been following you all day. But, I've gotta way out for you. No problem.

[faithfulflame]

[When she's grabbed, Rei squeaks in fright and drops her basket in the street. She tries to struggle a bit but she just can't. He's a lot bigger and a lot stronger than her and she wasn't really ready to fight back. Thrashing and squirming does no good, so she just goes limp, waiting to see what whoever it was would do.

And her eyes widen when she recognizes Cliff's voice. And what he's asking. She nods slowly, wondering what he had in mind. And if he meant to hurt her.]

[aerialassault]

[The single nod was enough of an answer for him. Cliff released her and took a few steps back, hands held out in the open just in case she tried to retaliate. This wasn't a pretty picture, and there was no way to make an excuse for it.]

Listen. I'm not gonna hurt you or anything-- I swear it. I'm just trying to keep you safe from that weirdo. You know him. I've had a bad feeling about that smile for a long time...

We'll talk on the way if you want to come. I'm not gonna force you or anything, but that guy ain't easy to deal with.

I'll keep you safe if you stick close. Don't doubt that. It'd really bug me if something happened to you.

[faithfulflame]

Cliff-san.

[She seems more surprised that it's you doing it anyway]

I...don't think he'll hurt me, not really. He's really very sweet. Just...strange.

But why would it bother you? [Her eyes narrow...]

[aerialassault]

...

[He watched her carefully, his own eyes hiding something that was more complicated than what he wanted to discuss immediately.]

So. You don't think it's strange that he's been tailing your every move for the last three days?

[It was an honest question.]

He gets crazy when he's got something in his head. Doesn't always think right. It can be dangerous.

Rei...uh. You're not someone I want to see get hurt.

[faithfulflame]

It is...but sometimes people do that. I don't think he means to hurt me, at least.

[Shaking her head she raises an eyebrow]

Why is that?

[Before the Kidnapping]

[ Serenity had found the documents earlier that day, stuffed haphazardly into her journal. She couldn't believe what she saw, but deep down, she had always known. She had always known that they had been related, but she had never had any proof; it had been just a simple feeling, a feeling of kinship.

The revelation was a joyful one, but it shook her world. Serenity gathers the papers, the proof, and leaves her home to go find her friend, her half-sister.

She spots Rei on her way to the store, and her eyes fill with tears; how could she have not known? It seemed so obvious now. ]

Rei!

[faithfulflame]

[Rei turns when she hears Serenity calling. Clearly there's something the matter, or she wouldn't be crying. Of course, she'd had her own bout of tears after realizing just who her real dad had been...but she hasn't found anything about Serenity. Yet.]

Usagi, what's wrong?

[Serenity still feels strange for her to say, though...she's begun dropping the honorific. It feels more appropriate, for some reason.]

[truemessiah]

I... [ Serenity's throat tightens uncomfortably, and she swallows to rid herself of the knot; the words were on the tip of her tongue, but they just didn't want to leave.

She pulls the papers from her journal, shoving them forward. ] I found something that you might want to see.

[ Serenity was happy, genuinely excited over the news, but now that she was in front of Rei, a worry fills her: what if Rei doesn't feel the same? ]

[faithfulflame]

[Rei flipped through the proffered papers, and her eyes widen in shock, amazement, and stark...joy!

She all but leaps forward, wrapping her arms around her half sister.]

Oh! Oh! This is amazing news! Just amazing! Sisters! Who'd have thought?!

[truemessiah]

[ The moment her sister wraps her arms around her, Serenity's breath is taken away. It takes a moment before she finally returns the hug, and a breathy sort of laugh escapes her. ]

I don't know how we didn't know before, but... [ It made perfect sense now that she knew; they must have blind. ] I'm so, so happy.
