[It's a little late for that, alas. Kain keeps trying to mouth out those secrets he's been trying to tell her- but it seems that the family fortune will remain hidden away... forever.]

[He does at least manage to lean up so he can kiss her. Because somehow there's always just enough strength for a final kiss.]

[There's pain in his expression, and gasping and silent moaning, but only enough to show just how much he's fighting. At least a couple times it looks like it could be the end, before he starts trying to talk yet again. But, finally, his grip completely loosens and his eyes close as he breathes out and... then very suddenly, just like that, he's dead.]

Have Kain freak her out...you know, even more. XD

[...no. This can't be happening. Kain dies in battle, not because Luceti's suddenly decided to go nuts again and take him along for the ride. Rydia keeps repeating that to herself mentally, knowing she should get up and find Cecil, but...she can't bring herself to do it. Not yet. Instead, she stays beside him, numb.]

AHAHAHA IT SHALL HAPPEN. And yes, Kain spent all experiment doing this lmao

[Kain doesn't do much, obviously, just being quite dead and waiting for relatives to come squabble over his things...]

[But in the meantime there's sounds from outside. Zephyr's little roar is loud enough to be heard from out there, making sounds that she tends to when she's greeting Kain specifically...]

[...what. Rydia's roused enough to go to the window, to check on the little dragon. She had to be mistaken, of course.]

[Perhaps, perhaps not... There's a distinctly Kain-shaped person approaching the house, anyway, heading right for the front door.]

[Rydia stiffens, gripping the windowsill.]

[A confused Kain, who steps inside, walks over promptly to hug Rydia and then ask,]

What did I miss this past week?

[Because that's just what you ask after you die for a bit.]

Only a moment ago? What... But... it's always a week.

[This is so WEIRD. Kain has experienced death enough to know that anything shorter than a week is just... not how it works.]

[Rydia just sags back down against the wall, too confused to have room for any other emotion, even relief.]

This doesn't make any sense....
