[It's the dead of the night and the full moon looks way too big and way too close, but it certainly does set the scene... for a rendezvous of the most secretive kind.

Except that because the moon is so bright, this LOAN SHARK MAFIA BOSS EXTRAORDINAIRE is trying not to squint and yet still look suave. They really should have cut down on the dramatic lighting this time.]

Did you find out anything else about that yet?

[Yes, that.]

[Pilouette shakes her head, with a smirk.]

I'm working on it. These kind of delicate things, like, totally take time, boss. You can't be too hasty with this kinda stuff.

[In other words, she's found out absolutely nothing and she's trying to make it sound like she's done more than she actually has.]

[zeropoints]

Yes, I see. Hmm. Yes.

[Tsuna nods as though he completely understands. (He doesn't.)]

Of course, I didn't call you out solely for that. There's also that other matter. You know the one.

[Someone in this story should know something and it's--totally not him. He's not the spy here, and it's not his job to know.]

[Ah, that matter. ...What was that matter again? Man, this guy is the boss of the Pawngolas. Even if she doesn't really know, she had better darn well pretend she does...!]

It's like, going as well as can be expected. But there are like..."problems", you know?

[zeropoints]

Problems? [Tsuna straightens suddenly and dramatically with realization.] You can't mean... Impossible.

[He turns and starts pacing. It would probably look more impressive if he wasn't so short, but at least the billowing of his mafia overcoat-cape thing looks nice.]

I should have figured. [He stops.] Thank you, Pilouette. An impressive job as always. I've learned a lot from this meeting.

[Pilouette nods, leaning against a nearby building. She's not actually sure what she's getting him into since she doesn't know what she's talking about, so she feels like she should make some sort of disclaimer.]

Of course, boss. But remember, they are...problems. And not all problems can be "solved" so easily. You should watch yourself.

[zeropoints]

I won't need to. [Besides, he doesn't know what he should be watching out for, since he was lost the minute this conversation started.] Did you forget we have a... problem solver on our side?

[Or that's what he assumes anyway. The monocled man. Puzzle solver by day, problem solver by night. Isn't that how it works? Well, whatever!! Details are a thing for minions.]

[A problem solver? Oh, that's good, because Pilouette does not actually know what the problem is or how to solve it. Even so, she shrugs.]

As long as he's neat about tying up his loose ends. Like, I'd rather not have to clean up after him. I know how messy some "solutions" can get.

[zeropoints]

[Tsuna smiles mysteriously over his shoulder at her. The angle is rather uncomfortable though, so it ends up being a terribly brief smile. Maybe 80% mysterious and 20% painful.]

Ah, but we're Family, Pilouette, and cleaning up after each other is what we do--if we have to. But I don't think it'll come to that. He's a "neat" man.

"Family."

...I guess so. As long as solving these problems makes my job easier, like, I'll do whatever I'm needed to, Boss. I suppose I wouldn't want to let my family down, would I?

[She tries to do a cool hair flip, but all it does is cause her hair to sway back into her eyes. She hurriedly tries to sweep it back into place.]

[zeropoints]

[Wow, he hears those quotation marks!!]

... Is something wrong? Do you have an issue with our Family, Pilouette Bonheur?

[That's right, using her full name. But he also tries to sound compassionate at the same time.]

[A tiny shiver runs down her spine. Even with the compassionate tone in his voice, she has the feeling he doesn't like being questioned.]

O-Oh, no. Not at all! I suppose...it's just been a while since I've been considered part of a family of any sort.

[Give her a second while she looks off to the side dramatically.]

[In that second, the world's smallest violin plays a slow sober tune, which Tsuna takes to mean a sob story is coming. So he takes the liberty of saying the random right thing at the random right time because that's just how the plot works.]

Could this be related to why you joined us in the first place?

[He'd suspected that it had something to do with her family situation.




Okay, no, he didn't.]

[Pilouette lets out a small gasp. Does he know about her tragic past that was written in to make her more interesting? She turns toward him dramatically.]

Perceptive, as expected of the Boss. But do you really want to know...?!

[Of course she can't tell him right away. There's no suspense if she does that.]

[zeropoints]

[The audience demands only one answer. But it comes after a long wavering pause. And maybe a commercial break about McDonald's new Curry Burger--"When you're in a hurry, don't forget the curry!"]

Tell me.

...If you insist.

[She looks off into the distance, as if remembering painful memories that frankly may or may not have actually happened.]

Before working for you, I wandered alone for such a long time with only one purpose, a purpose that even now is my only reason for going on. And with the vast resources the Pawngolas have [Or so she assumes; She doesn't actually know.] I thought that being in your employ might be my only chance!

My only chance to find...my father!

[One can almost hear a dramatic chord in the distance.]

[zeropoints]

Alone...? You mean...! No...

[Tsuna walks over to her and puts a sympathetic hand on her shoulder. The light of the moon washes over them, somehow even brighter and more dramatic than before. Tonight, the stars are not up there in the sky. They are down here in the moonlit spotlight.]

So your mother...

[Just to rub salt in the wound and because everyone likes to repeat themselves until they're hoarse in these shows.]

Yes...My mother is...is...!

[She can't bring herself to say it. The returning feelings of grief are too much! However, it doesn't matter, because her tears speak louder than her words ever could. But she's also going to use her words. Repeating themselves, indeed.]

But even though she's gone I have to find Father...for her sake! It was the last thing she asked me to do!

Augh!! This pain...!

[Tsuna clutches at his heart with his free hand because his Family's pain is his pain. And their tears are his tears. Their sorrows are his sorrows!!!]

I feel the connection between our hearts, Pilouette. I feel your pain. [Look at this dramatic clutching of his kokoro! This pain is real!] The Pawngolas will help you find your... father...!

Boss...!

[She covers her mouth with her hand as her tears continue to flow freely. Apparently, she is incredibly well hydrated. Even if he's her boss, this display of compassion is overwhelming.]

I...I don't know how I can thank you...

[She looks him in the eye and poses dramatically, her hand over her heart and her eyes teary and full of determination.]

Boss! My life is yours! For helping me to fulfill Mother's last wish...It's the least I can do!
