Coffee Shop Construction is a go!

Who: Natasha Romanoff and anyone conned into likely to swing by and help
What: Before it can open, the coffee shop needs a little tlc and a few touch-ups.
When: Friday, May 10. Possibly extending into the weekend.
Where: The future location of A Shot In The Dark coffee shop. (AKA, Building M)
Summary: Natasha calls in a few favors and bribes a few friends and teammates into helping her get the coffee shop ready to open. Anyone able to hammer a few nails, wield a paint brush or broom, or move some furniture is invited. Or come ogle some of the shirtless males she's put to work, that's acceptable too.

Natasha's still not entirely sure why she's doing this. Most mornings, she wakes up with the inevitable realization that she's probably lost her mind. She's not one to put down roots, to make a commitment to anything, because things don't last, situations change and her lifestyle choice of 'don't get attached' is slowly getting buried under a mound of teammates, friends, and persistent pests that somehow end up being debatably endearing.

And, apparently, a coffee shop.

Yup. She's definitely lost her mind. That doesn't seem to stop her from going each day and working on the little shop off the plaza, although she's reached a point that there's not much else she can do on her own. She needs help. A galling realization, but hey, that's what teammates are for, right? So, on a bright and sunny Friday morning, she rounds up what help she can find to pound out the last few renovations needed for the place.



((OOC Note: Most of the work needed is inside the cafe itself, although some work can be done outside as well. The doors will be propped open for people to come and go and they're taking pretty much a blank slate of an interior and turning it into this. So, work your character could possibly be doing is helping construct the coffee bar, painting the walls, hanging light fixtures or the shelving behind the coffee bar. Cleaning up the tables and chairs or the other surfaces inside once the sawdust and nail-pounding clears up. And if someone wants to get creative and make her a sign, she will be eternally grateful.

There will be a constant supply of drinks and snacks as well, for people wanting to take breaks or those wandering by to eyeball the proceedings. Hop in, help out, or just stop by to chat.))

Every time I ask myself 'How hard can it be', it inevitably becomes an impossible task. I'm trying to avoid jinxing things this time around. [Her tone is wry at this assessment as she gives him a smile, her hands propped on her hips.]

That would be very helpful, actually. Steve's been working on building the coffee bar and might need some help getting it into place once he's done. Or just a hand in general, if you're any good and hammering nails or holding planks in place. There's also furniture slowly being moved inside as we make room. Take your pick. We're not really having a shortage of tasks today.

Sorry. [Spencer subtly shifts his weight from one foot to the other, cracking an apologetic, lopsided smirk.

You’re in luck –- I got two. [ For hammering he’d use his dominant hand, such being his right. After all, controlling how much force his bionic hand would apply would prove a little too difficult and likely result in wooden planks being splintered.]

Think I'll start with the furniture.

[Something a little more on the physically demanding side appeals to him, and the raw power his prosthesis offers would make easier work of transporting heavier items on his end. He promises not to send things hurtling across the interior of the cafe by way of punching it.]

[She returns it, humor in her green gaze.] I suppose I'll forgive you. This time. You did come to help, after all.

I appreciate it. A lot. Thank you, Captain. Make yourself at home and feel free to hop in anywhere. I think we're all getting very experienced at getting in each others' way today.

[She appreciates your restraint, Spence.]

[A stiff nod is given as if she had issued him an order though he's quite relaxed, quietly appreciating the levity she too is injecting into the conversation.]

Sounds like you got more volunteers pitching in than I thought. [A thoughtful pause.] ...Or just too many of us trying to get things done in a small space.

[That'll do it.]

Or a little of both. [She has to agree at that, flicking a gaze around the cafe's interior at the assembled madness.] Although there are definitely more volunteers pitching in than I thought.

It's for a good cause.

[Luceti also has the highest concentration of helpful people packed into one community he's ever seen. It's pretty mindbogglingly surreal.]

People need their quick and easy caffeine fix. It doesn't get much more convenient than this.

I have to admit, I've badly missed it myself. Sort of how I came up with the idea. Still not sure how I managed to talk myself into actually doing it, however. [Her lips quirk upwards as she lifts a shoulder in a shrug that seemed to say 'what can you do?']

I suppose we'll see how it goes. So far we've managed to keep Thor from flying through the roof and Tony from making any of my appliances sentient and Steve from getting too traumatized by the conversations that frequently dip into the inappropriate. I think that counts as success.

It's a little easier when you don't have to worry about lease agreements and paying rent, at least.

[Well, this is new. He can't help but chuckle lowly at the remark on Steve in particular. They're sounding like a bunch of kids running amuck.]

Is that right? Heh, guess that explains Steve's reaction to one of my jokes. [He firmly holds the belief that it was perfectly hilarious though not the most tasteful.]

Not worrying about making a profit will be great way to get my feet wet, I suppose.

[Her lips quirk with fond amusement at that.] He takes to it better than some expected, but that doesn't mean he isn't reduced to interesting shades of red at times.

[It comes as a mild relief that she hadn't asked to hear the distinctly unclassy joke herself, it being the sort of thing he'd reserve for the company of male buddies. Dudes like Bucky who he felt would shamelessly get a laugh out of it.

You almost make him sound like he's stuck in that elementary school mentality of thinking girls are gross and crawling with cooties.
