Coffee Shop Construction is a go!

Who: Natasha Romanoff and anyone conned into likely to swing by and help
What: Before it can open, the coffee shop needs a little tlc and a few touch-ups.
When: Friday, May 10. Possibly extending into the weekend.
Where: The future location of A Shot In The Dark coffee shop. (AKA, Building M)
Summary: Natasha calls in a few favors and bribes a few friends and teammates into helping her get the coffee shop ready to open. Anyone able to hammer a few nails, wield a paint brush or broom, or move some furniture is invited. Or come ogle some of the shirtless males she's put to work, that's acceptable too.

Natasha's still not entirely sure why she's doing this. Most mornings, she wakes up with the inevitable realization that she's probably lost her mind. She's not one to put down roots, to make a commitment to anything, because things don't last, situations change and her lifestyle choice of 'don't get attached' is slowly getting buried under a mound of teammates, friends, and persistent pests that somehow end up being debatably endearing.

And, apparently, a coffee shop.

Yup. She's definitely lost her mind. That doesn't seem to stop her from going each day and working on the little shop off the plaza, although she's reached a point that there's not much else she can do on her own. She needs help. A galling realization, but hey, that's what teammates are for, right? So, on a bright and sunny Friday morning, she rounds up what help she can find to pound out the last few renovations needed for the place.



((OOC Note: Most of the work needed is inside the cafe itself, although some work can be done outside as well. The doors will be propped open for people to come and go and they're taking pretty much a blank slate of an interior and turning it into this. So, work your character could possibly be doing is helping construct the coffee bar, painting the walls, hanging light fixtures or the shelving behind the coffee bar. Cleaning up the tables and chairs or the other surfaces inside once the sawdust and nail-pounding clears up. And if someone wants to get creative and make her a sign, she will be eternally grateful.

There will be a constant supply of drinks and snacks as well, for people wanting to take breaks or those wandering by to eyeball the proceedings. Hop in, help out, or just stop by to chat.))

Yeah, Bucky’s pretty much got the right idea. But at least she’ll remind him in a good-natured teasing sort of way.

“It’s definitely clear you think she’s special.” And maybe more, but Pepper won’t bring up the question of love just yet. Bucky and Natasha are just getting started, and it’s better to let whatever’s developing between them form in its own time. But some things shouldn’t go unremarked on, and Pepper gently nudges Bucky with her elbow. “You’ve got the same sort of grin she had when she was talking about you.”

"I know she is." Bucky replies, like he knows the sky is blue. Things are both very complicated and very simple between them, but the past and future aside, Natasha herself - she's outright extraordinary. She's beautiful and warm and dangerous and vital, like fire. Sometimes they sleep badly and wake up with bruises, and sometimes they don't sleep at all, with much the same result. Sometimes she likes to stick her cold feet against him in the morning then tuck her head into the crook between his neck and collar so he won't try to squirm away. Sometimes she leaves him flowers, and he takes her dancing, and she calls him James when she's not paying attention.

A hint of red flushes up past his collar when Pepper goes on. A shirt would have hidden it, but his is currently tossed over his shoulder. He clears his throat. "So, did she tell you what she's gonna call the place?"

So Pepper’s absolutely leaning toward more, and she considers Bucky in silence for a moment—which is broken by barely restrained snickering when she sees that blush steal over her skin. She’s absolutely caught you, Barnes, and chances are good you’ll be hearing about that little flush of red later.

Or maybe Natasha will. Who knows?

“Not just yet. She’s picked a name?”

He folds his arms. "Yeah yeah, shut up."

He says it lightly - he's not above laughing at himself when he's been caught out.

"She might give me hell for spoiling her fun, so just look really impressed and surprised when she tells you, alright? She's calling it A Shot in the Dark. I'm still trying to convince her to use Loki as a decorative sign holder."

[handing]

"I didn't say anything." Which is true. She'd only laughed, which was completely deserved and Bucky knows it.

"I promise." She doesn't want to ruin Natasha's fun, or get Bucky in the doghouse. Somehow Pepper thinks he's capable of finding his way there without any extra help. Instead she grins as he shares the title, and his idea of employing their enemy from home to help market the place.

"Well, the name's clever at least. And just what did she say when you suggested that particular method of decoration?"

Bucky just gives her a look. Of course, it melts into a grin a moment later.

"She does a pretty cute little snort when she laughs, if you catch her by surprise." Bucky winks at Pepper. "Personally, I think the guy would look great wearing a giant coffee cup. He could keep the helmet and everything."

[handing]

"Oh geez." Pepper just laughs, shaking her head at the very clear image Bucky paints for her. "You know, I think the goal is to create an inviting atmosphere where people enjoy spending time."

"I dunno about you, but I could find it in my heart to enjoy that."
