Who: Asami Sato and Suki
What: Early morning sparing and also probably some hero worship.
When: A few days after Asami arrived in Luceti
Where: The big dome.
Summary: Asami goes to meet Suki and winds up asking her to spar. Also she has possibly a small little bit of a hero worship crush on her.Just a tiny one. Really tiny
Rating: PG? Some violence.
Asami had spoken to Suki the day she had arrived, and the Kyoshi Warrior had invited her to come to the training sessions she hosted in the morning. Asami had agreed, she'd been extremely excited just at the prospect of meeting Suki, let alone the idea of training with her! And then she had woken up...and not gone. Asami wasn't typically prone to self-doubt, she knew what she was good at, she knew who she was, and yet the idea of facing this woman that she had heard and read about her entire life, a non-bender who had helped save the world was so intimidating...and a little terrifying...that she had put it off.
Because she had to be perfect, really. She knew she was good at fighting, she'd spent enough years training to know that, but with the wings attached to her back, her balance was different, her movements were different...she had to practice. She had to make certain she could compensate for the change before she made any attempt to go and meet Suki. So she did, every morning for several days, learning to judge the extra weight, the extra wind resistance, just by herself behind the house, but after a few days she was pretty sure she had it.
That, and she couldn't keep putting it off. Eventually she'd start to feel silly, or Suki might think she had chickened out...
So she overcompensated, and today she was pretty sure she was much earlier than anyone else who would be coming. The upside of the time was that she'd managed to get her coat altered, so her violet wings fluttered from where they stuck out through her clothes, betraying her nervousness as she stepped into the building, looking around slowly.
Maybe no one was here yet?
She shifted, placing her hand on the Equalist glove that hung from her belt at the silence, and then forced it away, folding her hands behind her back instead. So far, no one here had been dangerous, and she didn't want to feel paranoid...or look like she was worried when she met Suki. She was going to meet the famous Kyoshi Warrior Suki!
Breath, Asami. She took a moment to collect herself before she headed further inside, her boots echoing on the ground.
"Hello? Is anyone here? I...think I'm early."

"Hello? Is anyone here? I...think I'm early."

Suki reached over to place a friendly hand on Asami's shoulder. "I'm sure you'll put it good use though."

"And yeah," she held up the glove and let it crackle again. "It's not the machines fault my father is being an idiot."

Suki wasn't going to ask for details about the other girl's life, but judging by that description, the relationship between her and her father was not a good one.
"Let's just focus on how to use it. Do you already have a fighting style with it?"
no subject
"Yeah, I do. I mean, it's a glove, not really a weapon, so my regular fighting style just meshed pretty well with it."
All it had meant so far was that when she hit someone, they went down a lot faster.
handwave their spar?
"Well then. Let's see what you got, future girl."
Works for me.
But she had to try, right? So she took a few steps away and turned, taking a relaxed, defense stance before she nodded.
"Go for it."
<3
But Suki wasn't going completely easy on the girl. She threw in some punches that were meant to land. Hopefully they didn't, but if they did then Asami would be hit.

"Okay, truce!" She called out.

Taking a moment to slide her fans away before turning her attention back to Asami. "You have an interesting style. Certainly not one that I know, but if there was one thing I learned about traveling, I don't know a lot of things."
no subject
"It's...not really a style, exactly." Asami looked a tad embarrassed. "My father wanted to make certain I could protect myself, from normal people and benders, so he had people come teach my ways to do that."

It wasn't that she wanted to learn about her future, but rather just find out more about what was going on. She knew about probending, Amon, and the Equalist, but that didn't give her much to work with.

Most of the time.

"That's great. And I know Aang would be so happy to hear that." Now she felt a bit awkward, but, "Do you know anything about the Kyoshi Warriors?" She was expecting a no, but she just had to ask.

So I think we can probably wrap this up?
She was going to do better this next spar, Suki.
