The sand in the hourglass eventually meets its end
Who: Gai, Law, Shikamaru, Sheena, Itachi, and anyone else who ends up being called into this.
What: An important discussion about keys, Davis, the tunnels, and other such matters.
When: Around noon on the 24th
Where: House 22
Summary: When Gai discovers that Specialist Davis himself is paying a visit to the village, he decides it's time to discuss a few things with several people.
Rating: Shouldn't be more than PG-13 at most.
[It didn't take long for word of Specialist Davis and Carol being in Luceti to reach Gai, given how nosy he is about the goings-on in the village. He's not entirely surprised; Davis does seem to have almost a personal stake in this enclosure given some of the things he's said and done before, but at the same time the fact that he's here (and injured, to boot) sets off a few alarm bells in Gai's mind given what he's learned about the man from Law.
He isn't going to approach them, not yet. Instead, he just tails them quietly for a while, observing what they're up to, noting the distance that they keep between them. They seem calm rather than in a hurry, almost as if they're just killing time. Perhaps they are. When a half-hour or so of following them around doesn't net any results, Gai decides that it's time to go drop in on someone who might have more of an idea as to what is currently going on.
It's only a matter of fifteen minutes or so after that before he's knocking on the door to House 22, hoping that Law isn't off on a shift at the clinic right now.]

Thank you for clearing that up, Gai.

Hello, Miss Raine. Come in, come in.

How interesting.]
... Goodness, what a gathering. Am I the last one?

[Itachi can't really say, though all the mentioned people seem to be here.
He offers her a tray with tea.]

[No dynamic entries, Gai.
No... not you, Gai.
The OTHER Gai.]

Then by all means, let's begin.

We've gathered most everyone here's seen the guys in town, if not heard they're here. How many of us have talked to them already?

They were looking around the plaza when I spoke to them.

... We had lunch.

My knowledge on them was rather limited.

I wouldn't expect you to. Specialist Davis, so far as I know, has only lead select missions. Carol I had only heard of in Vaskoth, until recently.
She's here as a liaison, too. Given her involvement in Vaskoth, there's a chance she can bring about changes for this village similar to what they have. [AND BEFORE HE GETS CALLED ON IT] Draft immunities, for example.

They're here on official business to evaluate the enclosure and for Miss Carol to act as a long term liaison between us and the Organization. However, Mister Bil told me she wasn't due for some years, even though he was going to hurry the process along.
When I asked her about it, she was surprised. According to her, she's right on time, even a bit late. Further questioning revealed that she wasn't even supposed to come here originally. Davis mentioned a Victor who was supposed to be assigned here instead; something she confirmed afterward. Something of a dick, they inferred, but I digress.
The point is, is that what I was told from Mister Bil and what I was told from them isn't quite matching up. Which brings the question of who to start raising eyebrows at, if not all of them.

She used to live here. Taught in the school. [So Raine probably knows her best overall.] She asked me if we had an inn because it leads to some kinda positive change.
[Who to raise eyebrows at, indeed.] Too bad we can't get them all together but still kinda apart and compare their stories.

There's more than just that.
[He turns to Shikamaru.]
Shikamaru, you remember the mission to the hospital-- the one that I commanded.
[Then, by way of explanation for the rest of the group:]
We were called in to free a hospital from a group of rogue MSF forces that had seemingly gone mad and aligned themselves with the cultists after returning from a survey mission. Those MSF forces had taken the hospital hostage with the intent of sacrificing the patients in it. Davis was there working with us for that one. There was a woman in a cloak there speaking to him too... I realize now it was most likely Carol.
We were ordered not to kill them so that they could be subjected to rehabilitation. However, somehow the leader, a man named Specialist Kovan Foster, had managed to get his hands on a Shift explosive that was capable of destroying the entire hospital and everything within a considerable radius of it.
[He looks to Shikamaru again.] Precis died because she took that explosive to a Shift-canceling room to save everyone in the hospital.
But that isn't all. I spoke to Molly later-- it turns out that she had no idea the Shift explosive had been used, or even that Luceti was involved in that mission at all.
[Let that sink in for a moment.]

Gai's timing with the story, along with Law's comments, certainly lead to a few implications.]
Quite a convoluted network of information.
no subject
Discrepancies everywhere. It's not exactly a surprise, with how quickly the Organization turns to stab it's own members in the back. We also need to keep in mind that Bil himself isn't exactly in a position of power. Whatever information he hears or gives out could very well be outdated. And Davis and Carol aren't high on the information network either.
... Is there any common link between them? CJ, perhaps?
no subject
Mister Bil said that Mister Davis had been relieved of active service when I suggested him to accompany Miss Carol. He didn't tell me why. He didn't seem to know much.
However his MSF guards did. They were mid-ranking soldiers, however they seemed to have a good idea what was going on by the looks on their faces. I never got the chance to ask the Commandant about it when I was briefly attached to her unit - not a good situation to ask - but it seems something happened and they're keeping it internal.
...
Mister CJ is. I have one more piece of news to impart.
[And it's unsettling.]

[And even civilians who wouldn't know much are instructed not to share too much information with people from enclosures. Of course they're not going to talk about it.
As for what Gai's saying... Well he was quiet thinking on that until Law spoke up, but he still can't be moved to be shocked by this revelation.]
What you're saying about Davis, now, is interesting. Maybe even suspicious, I'll give you that. On the other hand, him covering it up would only work to the village's favor. [He tilts his head, fixing his sights on Gai.] You, more than anyone, should be grateful for it.

It would make us more valuable to them.
