lucetilogs2013-06-14 12:09 amWe built this city on rock and roll
Who: Adele LeBlanc, Derek Bliss, gawkers, assistants, and whoever wants to help or mock
What: Building a beach house (not actually on the beach)
When: June 12th - 15th
Where: The Beach
Summary: A house is built, there's a bonfire at night and food provided for those that helped.
Rating: PG-13 for potential language
[After a brief posting the day before on the journal network mentioning the construction project, it's location, and offering a meal in return for work, Adele assists Derek in moving the supplies they've collected since picking the site and in the initial set up. Knowing little to nothing of construction she follows his lead every step of the way, breaking off only to set up water or a quick meal for them in between shifts of planing wood, cutting trim and hammering nails.
It takes time to get it built, but the end of each work day is met with a small or large bonfire, a hot meal, and cool drink.
And at the end there may very well be a house.]

All over the place...
Working, shirtless, and at ease, he went about the days with an easy smile and a nod to anyone who showed up.]
((OOC; Open to approach by anyone.
I'll beg minimal knowledge of housebuilding after watching my architech uncle, my dad and their brothers build add-ons to my grandparents house in days gone by. So any mess ups in that area are entirely my fault and not that Derek is an idiot. He actually knows what he's doing :) ))

Any day really
In the mornings when she arrives Sabriel makes sure to bring either a large bottle of iced tea or lemonade and some sandwiches for Adele and whoever else shows up to work. When the work is done for the day she might be found closer to the water, either sitting in the sand of the beach or wading through the shallow depths. Adele had the right idea, making a house out here.]

Doing serious magical stuff, 14th and 15th
Then, after much thoughtful frowning and poking, he takes a small flute from the air and plays an odd little tune, during which the components arrange themselves appropriately.
Between little projects, he takes a break, pausing to sit on the beach and drink some sort of refreshing beverage.]

Every day, every way.
It's satisfying to see it come together.
Now and then she takes timed breaks, serving food or ducking back to the village to fetch a cart of fruit and drink and sandwiches for those that are helping. Sometimes it's just her and Derek, sometimes it's a few more.
She's never sure. Better to have too much.
At the end of each day she sets up the scrapped wood in a bonfire and roasts fish, cools a case of beer and lounges, eyes on the framework of a home slowly coming together.]

Foolishly, with that aim in mind, he continues reading his journal. And when he sees Adele putting out the call for help, he can't convince himself that he'd be right to ignore it. Adele's sworn into a profession where she helps others, whenever she is asked, however she can. She's helped him, at the end of a very trying time for everyone.
It takes him a day to put together his things. But by the morning of the second day he's at the site with a basic set of tools for doing electrical work, and finding that there is a generator on-hand to supply power for the little house. He spends the remaining days poring over schematics, running wiring and double-checking just about everything he installs. Once he has a working outlet, there's music as well, his stereo plugged in and iPod shuffling merrily through his more high-energy playlists.]
