WHO: Any and all friends of Masaomi/anyone who happens to be on the beach! Invitations would’ve gone out via a (handwaved) secret entry or word of mouth.
WHAT: Masaomi’s birthday party, planned by Shikamaru-Gold-Ikki.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 19th.
WHERE: The beach!
SUMMARY: BEACH BIRTHDAY BASH. It’s pretty simple.
RATING: B FOR BIRTHDAY.

So after being reminded about Masaomi’s birthday, Gold came up with a much better idea than Shikamaru’s (lame) sit-down dinner! Therefore welcome to an all-dayish surprise beach birthday party! There are tables for presents and food, there is music (chosen by the boys, not by Ikki), and there is a sand castle city, complete with sandscrapers, which is what Gold put Ikki in charge of. The sand castle city has gotten a little out of hand because of this.

So stop by, wish Masaomi a happy birthday, and HAVE FUN. While there are three topic threads, FEEL FREE AND ENCOURAGED to just throw up your character at the party below that/anywhere, as per always.

[And appreciate it he would. Almost as much as he appreciates Hinata showing up, which not something he expected. Not really. Sure, he could be somewhat miserable at the idea she's not in a bikini, but she looks cute and really, this does fit with her personality altogether better. Rather than wait to see if she would deposit a gift or hand it off, he instead calls over from ankle deep in the water, as she's near enough to the shore line]

Do you swim, Hinata-chan?!

[Notably, despite being in the water he does have a thin T-shirt on. He's not exactly ashamed of his scars or anything, but it's just not something to shock people before he goes full body in with]

[She turned towards the now-familiar voice and makes her way tentatively towards the water. The book is pulled up against her chest as if to protect her from the sun and the view of the people around them, but it's really not big enough to hide much.]

Only a little. I had little opportunity at home.

You should give it a shot while you're here! I'm told the sea's an impressive sight to people not from island nations.

[She looks out at the water and covers her eyes from the gleam of the sun off the surface.]

It is rather pretty, but I... I am fine up here on the beach, thank you. [She looks down at the book she is still holding and blushes before holding it out.]

This is for you. Happy birthday, Kida-kun.

[Oh boo. He shuffles back closer to the shoreline so he can meet her and get the book. With it in hand, he looks down at briefly before looking back up at Hinata ans giving a thousand volt smile]

Thank you, Hinata-chan!

[She gives him a pleased smile since he seems happy with the book.]

I figured that you might find a use for it in your flirting attempts. Since it is something that Ino-san and I were both taught as small girls, you might find it will work best on those you can impart the knowledge to.

Oh, are you encouraging me to pursue a taken woman, Hinata-chan?

[Innocently. Or as innocent as that can be said, anyway]

[Her face flushes even worse with his teasing and she flails a little at the thought.]

No, I was saying that you could perhaps impress another girl who does not understand the language of flowers. And since Ino-san and I do, we would be exempt.

Oh, is that how it is, huh?! [He laughs it off, looking down at the cover of the book again before focusing back on her face. He wants to swim though- so he walks past her a little, motioning for her to walk with him, so he can put this on the gift table]

Y-you're welcome. [She follows him, still a little flustered but attempting to carry on a normal conversation with him.]

Are you... are you enjoying your party so far?

Sun, surf, babes, and a seven year old making a city for me? What more could a man ask for? [And without giving her time to answer-] Well, a few things! But nothing doing, here.

What sort of things are you missing? [She looked around to see the young girl she'd seen manning the Avatar booth at the Cultural Fair playing in the sand merrily and couldn't help but smile.]

She seems rather pleased to be making that for you.

I don't want to bore you with the details. [And at this, the present table. He deposits the book next to the other opened things, like Shikamau's scroll. He turns to her then, in full, smiling]

But am I ever flattered for her affection.

[Hinata was oddly curious about the things that a person like Masaomi would find lacking in his life. Every time she saw him, he always seemed so pleased, so jovial, that to imagine him unhappy was difficult for her.]

I hope that you find what you are missing this year then, Kida-kun. And that young lady seems ready to be your friend for life. Is she...is she related to Aang-san by chance?

[Friend for life, huh. And what he's missing...? His eyes glance around, looking to see if a certain woman's in the area. But he doesn't let it drift too long, instead he just focuses on Ikki and Soren and-]

His granddaughter, actually.

[She noticed him looking around, and it made something inside of her relax. It seemed that there was someone that he liked more than her or the other women running around the village.

She found that she liked him a little more because of it.

However, when he said that the little girl was Aang's granddaughter, she had to stop and think about how that was even possible.]

Is she...is she taken from some future of his then?

More than fifty years in his future. I forget how many... sixty? Seventy? Something like that.

[And man was it unfair. To both of them. But Ikki appreciated it, to meet the grandfather she'd never known, so his own perceptions weren't valid, he supposes]

[Hinata watched the little girl move around happily, wishing she'd been that free as a child. It was bittersweet watching the dark-haired girl as she bounced around in the sand.

If only Neji had realized that he wasn't the only one caged in by their clan's expectations earlier, he would have seen how terribly unhappy Hinata had been as a child.]

It is enviable to watch her. She seems to be full of fun and sunlight, much more than myself, even though that is what my name means.

Careful, you'll sound jealous of a seven year old if you say any more, Hinata-chan. That wouldn't be becoming.

[Wry. Very wry, all things considered]

To have a grandfather like Aang-san? Yes, I am a little jealous. [She gives him a smile that is bright but doesn't reach her eyes.] I am sure that it will pass soon.

Except he's younger than both of us.

[He says this lightly, drumming his fingers once on the table before making an abrupt move to try to surprise put his arm around her shoulders. And lean in on her face, cutting this moment off]

As the police of "becoming" though, now I need to punish you!

[His sudden action has thrown her off and she is much too shocked to throw him off.] W-what?

[And with a wide step towards the ocean!]

We're going swimming, that's what!

[He's almost dragged her completely to the water before she can react. The first thing she does is shove him away from her as quickly as she can.] N-no. I am fine. Thank you. I am sorry.

[In spite of himself and in spite of knowing what ninja can do, he's surprised by the force she musters. Wow, she must be good at hand to hand.

Either way, he bounces back, smiles all around]

What?! Don't make me get my partner in on this, Hinata-chan!
