WHO: Any and all friends of Masaomi/anyone who happens to be on the beach! Invitations would’ve gone out via a (handwaved) secret entry or word of mouth.
WHAT: Masaomi’s birthday party, planned by Shikamaru-Gold-Ikki.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 19th.
WHERE: The beach!
SUMMARY: BEACH BIRTHDAY BASH. It’s pretty simple.
RATING: B FOR BIRTHDAY.

So after being reminded about Masaomi’s birthday, Gold came up with a much better idea than Shikamaru’s (lame) sit-down dinner! Therefore welcome to an all-dayish surprise beach birthday party! There are tables for presents and food, there is music (chosen by the boys, not by Ikki), and there is a sand castle city, complete with sandscrapers, which is what Gold put Ikki in charge of. The sand castle city has gotten a little out of hand because of this.

So stop by, wish Masaomi a happy birthday, and HAVE FUN. While there are three topic threads, FEEL FREE AND ENCOURAGED to just throw up your character at the party below that/anywhere, as per always.

Well it is true. Not to make you or my partner jealous, but this is a key thing in my mind now...

[Chuckling, as he makes his way back to his feet the long way with planting a foot and then getting up from that,]

[He certainly is honest. ...Wait.]

Your "partner"? Did you manage to con someone into being your girlfriend with all your pretty words?

["Con" is quite a bit harsher than she actually feels about him. Despite the buxom commentary, she doesn't think he's a bad guy and she suspects he wouldn't be a bad boyfriend for someone who is willing to put up with the way he acts. But she does figure he can take a little harsh language.]

Not quite. I think she likes tougher guys than me. [And he whistles now, and from behind Fenimore (not right behind her, just nebulously behind her) Linda the Pikachu races to his heel to stand there and wonder what she's being called for]

[Well, that certainly wasn't what she was expecting! After a moment, she crouches down to get a closer look, though she does keep her distance a bit -- she has no idea how friendly she is.]

Oh! I didn't know you had a pet. Or -- a Pokey-mons? [She can't really tell the difference between a Pokémon and a regular monster, but "partner" sounds a bit like what Ikki was saying about Pokémon earlier.]

Yep, Pokemon. I'm surprised you hadn't seen her! [Not that he formally introduced the two, but it's been over a year. And he motions to Linda and-] Linda, this is Fen-chan, and Fen-chan, this is her.

[Linda, for her part, looks smug, but waves a little to show she is listening and greeting Fenimore. Not that she's too interested in meeting random girls, but whatever]

[Oh, the waving is really cute. Fenimore waves back.]

Hello, Linda. [She looks back up to Masaomi.] Well, I haven't really paid too much attention to the Po-ke-mons [much closer pronounciation, but a lot slower] after I learned that they don't attack people. But I mustn't have seen the two of you together, at least.

I guess she is in her ball pretty often when I'm out and about on the town. Not that she isn't still aware during that, she's just taking a little rest.

[With a bit of a shrug, and Linda nods, in agreement. Not that she doesn't like being out, but when it's all the unimportant flirting, why not rest]

Her...ball?

[~~Fenimore may have heard about this before and I'm just forgetting but since I can't remember where she might have heard it before~~ She's trying to imagine how large a ball would have to be to hold Linda. Not...excessively big, but it would have been noticeable, right?]

Pokeball. It's about the size of a baseball and uses space age science to shrink pokemon into it. If I had hers handy, I'd show you.

[Her face adopts a rather strained look of absolute confusion as she tries to imagine that, her eyebrows down and her nose wrinkled slightly. Her imagination fails.]

I'm not even going to try to ask how it can manage that.

Good, because I don't really know how it works, all things considered.

I could say that about more things around here than I care to mention. [She sighs. Ah, to be a luddite in modern Luceti.]

Don't worry, that's just the staples of modern living. No one knows how anything works, back on Earth.

And that's supposed to be progress? I miss when I used to understand what I was using. [She straightens up from where she had been crouched to look at Linda.]

...Why would a Po-ké-mon be jealous of your mind being full of swimsuits, anyway?

You know, I wish I knew! [He says this airly, and Linda whacks his shin with her tail. She snorts, and in Pika-Speak, she explains that all these bitches keep him buzzing around doing nothing important when he could be focusing on her some more]

[Fenimore has no idea how to understand Pika-Speak any more than to pick up that she is angry.]

Well, she's angry about it, at least. She certainly understands what you're saying well, doesn't she?

Of course she does, she's easily as smart as any human.

[Something he laughs at before crouching down to tap her once on the top of the head. She snorts back up at him, but then just crosses her pika-arms and hovers up to get on his shoulder]

She i -- ? [But her inquiries into Pokémon intelligence are cut off as she takes a step back, startled.]

She's floating!

Yes, yes she is. [And now he has a slight headache. Man, the magnetic field so close to his head always does this]

How -- ? [She stops herself.] This is one of those things that I shouldn't try to figure out, isn't it?

Actually, I can explain this one, if you know anything about how magnets work.

I do -- er, well. I know that they attract metals and point north, but I guess I don't really know how they work, other than that they do.

Well okay, let's go simple - do you know that magnets have two poles, and the opposites attract, but like polls repel?

[She nods.] Yeah?

[It is actually possible that she did not know this, but either way she would give the same response. No need to admit ignorance if he's going to explain it well enough for her to bluff!]

She's using that to repel against the ground. which lifts her off it.
