WHO: Any and all friends of Masaomi/anyone who happens to be on the beach! Invitations would’ve gone out via a (handwaved) secret entry or word of mouth.
WHAT: Masaomi’s birthday party, planned by Shikamaru-Gold-Ikki.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 19th.
WHERE: The beach!
SUMMARY: BEACH BIRTHDAY BASH. It’s pretty simple.
RATING: B FOR BIRTHDAY.

So after being reminded about Masaomi’s birthday, Gold came up with a much better idea than Shikamaru’s (lame) sit-down dinner! Therefore welcome to an all-dayish surprise beach birthday party! There are tables for presents and food, there is music (chosen by the boys, not by Ikki), and there is a sand castle city, complete with sandscrapers, which is what Gold put Ikki in charge of. The sand castle city has gotten a little out of hand because of this.

So stop by, wish Masaomi a happy birthday, and HAVE FUN. While there are three topic threads, FEEL FREE AND ENCOURAGED to just throw up your character at the party below that/anywhere, as per always.

[Pansage nods in agreement, seemingly at both what Masaomi said and what it's trainer says next.]

Oh, well, we're happy to be here! Birthday parties can have a nice and joyous atmosphere to them, and yours appears to be no exception to that...in fact, this might be the first one I've attended that had a beach setting, which certainly adds a unique flavor to it!

What?! [He says this slightly scandalized] your Unova doesn't have coastlines?!

Oh, no, that's not what I meant! Unova does have beaches--in fact, the north-eastern area of Unova is right alongside the ocean. I just haven't been to any parties there... [...But then Cilan sort of smiles a little sheepishly, scratching at his cheek.] ...Or having gone there in general, as I've not had the chance to visit that part of Unova yet, unfortunately. [Or, at least before Luceti, having been to that many parties either...]

It's a shame--since I was young, I've often heard good things regarding the tastes of eastern Unova. [his sigh has a slightly unnecessary theatrical air to it, but he's very cheerful nonetheless] Perhaps someday I'll be able to go there myself. They say it's an elegant place to visit, and that there are a lot of interesting sights to see...oh, like watching the Wailords, or other Pokemon that occasionally migrate to Unova from other regions!

[But alas, he won't be seeing those things right now ~~until he's eventually canon-updated to Season 2 anyway.~~]

Wailords... [Has he looked up that one... no, he can't place it. He hums briefly, but dismisses it before he tilts his head and looks a little curiously at Cilan, following that line of theatrics]

That sounds like something which'd be a sight to see, Cilan-san. I hope you'll get a shot at both of those, soon enough.

Yes, I hope so too! Wailord in particular is a Pokemon that originated from the Hoenn region, and are also supposedly the largest Pokemon in existence when it comes to height and width, from what I've heard. [Which is to be expected, considering that they're whales.] If I'm lucky, they'll be a wonderful sight to see along the way towards wherever the next Pokemon League tournament is meant to be held.

[Because Arceus forbid we take any detours that isn't close to ~~the plot~~ where Ash wants to go. Luckily for Cilan, that will be a non-issue as soon as he returns back to Unova at some point.]

Mmm? You're a league competitor, Cilan-san? That's somewhat surprising to hear.

[That comes out after a slight moment of thought, looking the man and his monkey over]

Oh, no, I'm not. It's true that I'm a Gym Leader for the Pokemon League, but I'm quite satisfied with that position at the moment. [His job is to battle trainers and award them badges so that they'll be able to compete in the League tournament in the first place.] I was traveling with a friend, Ash, who was collecting badges from the Unova gyms and is on his way to compete in the elimination tournament for the Pokemon League. If he wins, he'll be given the chance to battle the Elite Four or even the Pokemon Champion, Alder, to try to take his title from him!

Hoooh, so what do you think Ash-san's chances are in that respect? [He's curious, now, to know what sort of man Cilan would be following around. Because if it's Ash's journey to move on, that means, in a sense, Cilan is playing his role. The second fiddle to Gold, the second fiddle to Shikamaru, and the second fiddle to Mikado. It's a role he doesn't necessarily begrudge, but he's got him curious]

Well... [Cilan actually pauses, thinking about it.] There's really no telling what might happen, as there will be many opponents there with different tastes in strength and skill...but I do have faith in him. If anyone could win the tournament, I'm sure Ash could.

[However, it sounds like there's a "but" coming...] ...Defeating the Champion of Unova, though? That would certainly be an amazing accomplishment for someone so young, but...well, I wouldn't be too surprised if Alder was able to keep his title. [But Cilan's still smiling.] ...But I don't think that would bother Ash too much--win or lose, he would be happy that he got to have such a fun and exciting battle against a strong trainer like the Pokemon Champion.

[Huh. Young, which means the man - boy, rather - is younger than him, or the same age - probably younger, given how young they grow the pokemon trainers here in Luceti. Masaomi looks thoughtful for a moment, because really, the description of Ash, his faith in the boy, and his admittance the boy's likely defeat speaks volumes about Cilan as a person. And what's more, it reassures hi about something he's been considering for a while now. Gold was too vague for him, Silver was a good fit but apparently ultimately too hands off, Green-san might have been beneficial for a time, but his severity played into Masaomi's own complexes and even now he's not sure if he's grateful or resentful of that brief stint. Which means, ultimately-]

Well, Cilan-san, as the birthday boy here, I've got another request for you.

[Well, Cilan tries to believe the best in people...though, maybe at heart he's a little biased when it comes to Ash. But...Ash is his friend, even if he is younger than we are. He was one of the first friends Cilan had made in a long time, and he's actually seen him do incredible things before. So it's not hard for him to believe that Ash could win the tournament, but at the same time, battling Alder would be an incredibly difficult task and may require more than just luck. Maybe he won't defeat him now, but...with more training and experience, it could happen someday.]

Oh? And what's that, Masaomi?

[With some ceremony, he reaches out now to plant his index finger into Cilan's chest. At his heart! And then he says, with some seriousness - though a little of it is ruined by arguably unnecessary ceremony - ]

I'd like you to help me out in terms of trainer things.

[Was the ceremony really necessary, considering that Cilan's answer should be obvious.]

Oh, of course I would be happy to help! After all, as a Pokemon Connoisseur, it's my duty to advise any trainers that I can with perfecting the taste of the bonds they share with their Pokemon~! [Cilan please...]

Alright~ If you're sure, I'm going to be counting on you, Cilan-san. In fact, maybe even a little confiding.

Hm, alright. If confidentiality is what you desire, then I can oblige. [He's actually a little honored that you'd see us as someone to confide in.] Please, allow us to assist you in any way we can!

Iiiin, that case. [And he plasters a smile back onto his face, holding up a fist, for a fistbump] We'll be meeting up after the party to talk about this, maybe even on some other day, right?

[A fistbump? Sure, why not? Cilan meets the other's fist with his own.]

Right! Whenever you have a free moment to spare, please let us know.

Trust me, it'll be pretty soon. Though I might delay until after this Saturday, in the interests of the ladies.

[Pow! The fistbump explodes like a firework! As he recalls it]

Ah, I see. [He doesn't mimic the firework motion, but he does laugh a little.] Well, I certainly wouldn't want to interfere in the interests of the ladies of Luceti...

Event? [...Oh, wasn't there some kind of speed-dating thing people signed up for? Gosh, he nearly forgot about that.] No, not really. That sort of event might be a little too strong for my tastes...

[Or awkward, more like--we are not a "ladies man" like how Ash's previous companion was, so the subject of "romance" (when it involves us personally) isn't really something he specializes in as a Connoisseur right now??]

Eeeeh, what, you're not into the ladies? [A beat.] ...Or dudes. Or whatever, they told me I got's to be tolerant for this one.

No--I don't think about things like that very often, to be honest. [Sure, he can acknowledge if someone is attractive, but otherwise he doesn't normally give that much thought into the idea of dating people...]

Could it be that you're one of those late bloomers?! Cilan-san, say it isn't so?! Do I have to get you a date?!

[And in fact with some flourish, he moves to put an arm around the guy. ...Come to think of it, he's not positive if Cilan's that much older than him or not, honestly. Or if he is at all]
