WHO: Any and all friends of Masaomi/anyone who happens to be on the beach! Invitations would’ve gone out via a (handwaved) secret entry or word of mouth.
WHAT: Masaomi’s birthday party, planned by Shikamaru-Gold-Ikki.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 19th.
WHERE: The beach!
SUMMARY: BEACH BIRTHDAY BASH. It’s pretty simple.
RATING: B FOR BIRTHDAY.

So after being reminded about Masaomi’s birthday, Gold came up with a much better idea than Shikamaru’s (lame) sit-down dinner! Therefore welcome to an all-dayish surprise beach birthday party! There are tables for presents and food, there is music (chosen by the boys, not by Ikki), and there is a sand castle city, complete with sandscrapers, which is what Gold put Ikki in charge of. The sand castle city has gotten a little out of hand because of this.

So stop by, wish Masaomi a happy birthday, and HAVE FUN. While there are three topic threads, FEEL FREE AND ENCOURAGED to just throw up your character at the party below that/anywhere, as per always.

I did grow up swimming now and again, after all! [Not exactly religiously or anything but you know, pools. Plus in Japan you're never that far from a coastline. He comments this, over the surf and their own splashes made from the swim]

[ She treads water, eyebrows lifting. ]

Did you grow up by the water?

Japan's an island nation - at most, you're only ever a few hours from a shoreline.

[Which isn't the hard and fast truth, - or well, it is, but it's not way he swam a lot. He just liked to see girls being cute at the pool and the beach]

Sounds like my kind of place. [ She bends a small wave in between her hands. ] Republic City was on the shore, too. I even stayed on an island just across the harbor there.

Oh, I know the one! OR at least, from Ikki's model, I've got an idea.

[Treading water isn't easy as you'd think but... oh well]

Yeah, that's the one. Air Temple Island. I live there with her family.

Must be crowded. [Not that he didn't know this information, somehow or another. He can't recall if it was Ikki or the old Korra now]

Only because Tenzin is always hounding me about airbending training.

[ She flicks the water. ]

Hey, he's old and wise, isn't he? Older than you'd expect, with a daughter like Ikki, if memory serves! It's practically his job to hassle you, Korra-chan. [And he swims ahead a little, so he might subtly get in front of her. For their racing]

[ Oh, she notices that, and she starts swimming again to try and edge ahead of him. ]

I'm guessing you met him when he was here?

More "glimpsed" and "heard about" - he wasn't here long.

[Oh boo, and he was even doggy paddling subtly]

[ Korra's mind is never far from the competition. ]

Must've been weird for Aang. [ She glances awkwardly toward the shore. ] Anyway, you've got Tenzin pretty well pegged. He was an excellent hassler.

["For Aang" - Try Katara.

But he doesn't say that. Instead, he tries to get ahead again, laughing it off. Actually, they're starting to get out, should they turn around? ...Not that he's going to do it]

[ Korra knows she can swim out further than most people, being able to rely on her bending to push her back - but the last thing she wants is for Masaomi to get caught in a current and to have to rescue him. So she starts to curve around back towards the shore. ]

[Sweet. He turns too, though probably not as precisely, to make to try to get beside Korra for the swim back bu--t he doubts it'll happen and he'll just follow her again]

[ She decides to up the competition a bit, swimming faster - but still not using any bending. ]

Last one to shore is a rotten egg!

[Well then!! He better crank it! ...Not that he really is going to beat her, of course he isn't, but he'll try]

[ She slows down a bit, just to give him the impression that he might be able to catch up. ]

[Chance?! They've entered shallower water now, so broad strokes aren't actually that sound from her. He considers touching the bottom, but that might be cheating, so he tries to use a breast stroke to pull ahead-- which is so not going to work but whatevs]

[ And just as they about to touch the sand, she surges forward again, touching the bottom and running through the last of the waves. ]

Winner! Yes! Sorry, birthday boy.

[And Masaomi doesn't get up from it! Isntead, he just flops onto his belly, half-way up to the store but in the shallows enough that his head isn't under and he's touching the bottom. He grins up at her, a little winded]

That-- you did, Korra-chan.

[ She stretches her arms above her head, catching her breath as she turns back to face him. ]

Don't take it too hard. Water is my first element, after all.

And I believe those spirits showed that "lightning" is mine, contrary to whatever the Prince might have thought.

[This is said with some humor as he gets to his own feet]

[ That earns him a curious look. ] The Prince?

Just this one fellow who's related to an old Shift. It doesn't matter that much.

[Except it does. A lot. But he keeps his tone even and breezy]
