[The rec center today is colourfully decorated, with posters and directing signs here and there to make this whole process easier. The main floor is peppered with a bunch of tables and chairs pilfered from various locations (primarily the school) with two chairs facing each other per table. There's a couple of bigger tables off to the side, one for food (carrying drinks and various snacks, including Teddy and Ororo's homemade rainbow cookies), and the other with a few chairs and piles of paper everywhere. And a checklist. The checklist is important.

The desk is Billy's, and he's handing sheets of paper out to anyone who comes in and was signed up for the speed dating. Give your name, get a sheet and a name tag, go to the first desk or mingle until it starts- that's what people will be told when they arrive. Teddy's not far from the desk or the door depending on where he's needed, directing people to follow the signs, get comfortable, try some snacks- whatever they want.

Finally a lounge area has been set up with cushy chairs, couches, and the rec center's supply of games and whatnot in the corner. There is a sign for the area that says, "If you find yourself on a turn without a date, come hang out!" It's also got a picture of a weird-looking potato man hanging out, but never mind that.

When everything is ready and people are good to go, Teddy steps up and calls for attention, with Billy sitting on top of the table behind him for moral support (and unhelpful interruptions).]

Hey, guys – Hey! Can everyone hear me? Everyone? [...] Great!

I'm sure everyone knows why they're here. Or, you know, not, since a few of these sign-ups look a little suspicious... [He raises an eyebrow at that, but his smile remains good-natured, and his brow smooths over soon enough.] On behalf of Alliance, welcome to Luceti's very first -

-We think.

- speed dating event! [Though Teddy glances at Billy for that interruption, he'd paused as if he expected it to come.] I'm Teddy, and this is Billy, and we're your hosts today. I'll try to be brief for those of you who just want to get this started already, but let's go over the rules and regulations first.

If you happened to get dragged into this without knowing what you're getting yourself into, it's basically exactly as it sounds. You might remember one of us handing you a list of numbers. Well, when Billy gives the signal, everyone will head to the table with the first number on their list, which will pair you off with someone in the room you just might not have met before! You'll have five minutes to talk to them and get to know them, just enough time for a good – or bad – first impression. After that, one of us will blow the whistle, and you'll go to the next numbered table. And on and on, until it's all over! By then, you might have found someone you're interested in, either as a friend, a potential love interest, or even just someone you really don't want to see again.

To keep track of it all, there's a space beside the number to write down the name of the person you're talking to and anything else you might have learned about them. And maybe by the end, you can write down a no, a yes, or an oh yes.

Try not to be too vague about it and we'll give you your matches at some point in the future.

[Teddy grins after that, a happy and excited one.] Remember, this is all about having fun and meeting new people! If you want to take a break, get bored, or don't have a partner, refreshments are on that side of the room [He gestures to the side, showing off the assorted foods and the cookies that he and Ororo spent a good part of the night baking.], or you can come up and talk to us! We're just the supervisors here, after all.

[He takes a step back after that, his attention going to Billy, his way of telling him to give the signal.] Billy?

[Billy gives a small wave, remaining on his table. Teddy did the hard part, after all.] There's a lounge, too, if we're not interesting enough. You might meet somebody there you're not paired with and find a new friend, so give it a shot.

That's pretty much it, so everyone can go on and head to your first table, and we'll blow the whistle in one minute. Thanks for coming, and try to have fun!

And there was a statement Cross could agree with. This country setting was nice and all, but in time, the lack of technology and other things was becoming old and fast.

"No kidding. I'm used to bigger than this. Thankfully, they've got running water here. Thaaaaaaaaat'd be unfortunate if we had to bathe in the river or something." He raised a hand to his chin to think for a moment, before another topic came to mind.

"Okay, I got it. What's one of the things you wish Luceti had? Could be anything."

[And then he points to the glasses with a smirk.]

You had time for sports though in your world? And this Job, that's in Luceti? What are you going to be doing?

[And then he cuts himself off.]

At that, Jack found himself laughing. Largely because in spite of Adele's dry wit, he hadn't expected anything truly funny from her. He finally concluded with: "You've got me there."

"It pays to be optimistic, I'm told." Not that she normally cared to be, but it was a default answer of hers. It certainly dissuaded her nieces from ever attempting to ride one.

I have spoken with Suzumiya-san. I offered to be one of the people who wrote to others. [The less said about Haruhi is probably for the best, considering how Hinata and she ended. However, she can still smile happily when Nartuo is so overly enthusiastic about everything.]

I am glad that you are enjoying yourself. You sound as if you have found things to fill your time, unlike when we last spoke.

You'd better do it, I heard that if people don't write, they're gonna have to do forfeits in maid outfits. [Do you want to have to wear a skimp maid outfit Hinata? DO YOU?]

I spoke with her when she asked about the Hydra project. It was...interesting. [Yep, Hinata sure is trying to be tactful. And the better question about the maid outfit is do you want to see it, Naruto? Do you?]

A-ah, I gave my word, so of course I will be going through with it, Naruto-kun. It is a matter of living up to our shared nindo, yes?

And...I have heard that there are missions for us to take. If you handle a mission for the Malnosso, but they are on a volunteer basis.

Mine develops over time and toward very specific people that I've become comfortable with.

[It's not that she has no drive at all so much as hers becomes dormant for extended periods of time when there isn't anyone she's actively involved with.]

[Almost idly, she begins to fold a paper shuriken as they speak. She won't use it as a weapon, but after it's folded, she first demonstrates how flimsy it is without the use of her chakra, poking the edge so that it bends under the weight of her finger. Then she hardens and sharpens it and uses it to cut tidily into another sheet of paper as if she's using an x-acto knife rather than another sheet of paper.

Carefully, she passes over the thin but unnaturally durable and sharp paper shuriken for him to examine.]

"A step down in some ways, although the Battle Dome is a step up for training simulations and the weather is much more pleasant here on average."

She still liked the rain more than the average person, but that was because it reminded her of home and it wasn't a relentless and torrential downpour.

It sounds like a country, but there isn't a country called Japan in my world. Although there's things that exist in my world that other people haven't heard of, either.

Well, that's good, because I can think of at least a couple of girls who could bench press you.

I don't think Mom ever heavily advertised it. I mention it now and then to people, but it's definitely more of a part time shop.

He had a point. She'd purposely put in her name for both friendship and romance, and she would miss out. Bulla considered grabbing Logan's arm and pulling him to the men's bathroom, but that put her cute new outfit at risk. There was no way it would be unscathed. Even if, by some miracle, he decided to tolerate that from her (which she sincerely doubted would happen unless he was exceptionally drunk and walking into walls), her outfit could get blood, oil or mud on it just by accident.

"...I'll go get you some paper towels."

At least he could wipe off the excess sledge with that. It counted as an effort.
