Of all times, it had to start pouring now. She knew she should have left to look for Ion in the first place, but he kept insisting on coming on his own. She should have told him to stay... especially since he wasn't exactly strong enough to survive in the forest.

Anise had no clue who lived with her, but that wasn't important at the time. Her priority was finding Ion and making sure he doesn't get hurt, or trip on wet grass or fall in a flooded river. Oh, the possibilities of a Fon Master getting hurt. She left the 'house' into the wet outdoors and made her way towards the forest.

Ion had been following the stream through the village, after walking back from the store. He recalled a tree he had used as a marker; if he could find that, he would be able to find his house again.

While the small department store he had found did not have cloth, there had been large shifts that he could use as oversized shirts. With some help from an attendant in the store, he had cut slits in the back for his wings and donned one as a makeshift turban, and then he had headed off.

He hummed, hugging his journal and the small pillow he gotten -- both of which he had stuffed under his shirt to protect them from the rain. He would have to write to Anise again and tell him about the rather scraggly tree near his house; maybe that would help her find him.

Ion blinked, hearing a voice in the distance shouting his name. He turned towards the forest, seeing a white-dressed figure moving back and forth on the edge of the forest. Tilting his head, he took a few steps forward and, heedless to Anise's long-standing order to not talk to strangers, called back.

"Hello?"

"Anise."

Ion smiled despite himself as he recognized Anise, though drenched and looked wary in the rain. He really didn't know what came over himself at the moment, but he immediately crossed the gap between them, reached out, and hugged her.

In spite of the rain.

And the way his belongings fell out of his shirt and onto his shoes.

"Oh, yes, I guess I did." Ion smiled softly as he eased out of the hug, bending down to pick up his journal and pillow. His journal had taken the brunt of the wet grass, and he sighed a bit before hugging it to his chest. "We should get out of the rain. My house isn't too far from here."

He offered his free hand to his former Fon Master Guardian. For once, he could lead the way.

"I thought you knew I did? ... Maybe I just assumed..." Ion tilted his head to look back at Anise, but did not continue his walk back towards his house. He passed the old, slightly twisted tree and entered his own small house, crossing the threshold before shaking out his dripping sleeves.

Ion nodded solemnly as he turned his attention to Anise. "I spoke to ... Ion about her. And not telling her that there is a replica of him around." He paused to walk back and shut the door behind them, though the shield from the wind and rain did nothing to ease his discomfort.

He met Anise's gaze, searching for an answer before he posed the question. "You aren't fighting with her, are you?"

"I know that she doesn't make it any easier for you, but I appreciate your trying." Ion was already moving towards his bed, tugging off the topmost sheet with a little difficulty. "You must be cold. I hope you weren't in the rain for too long."

Ion shook his head slowly. "It wasn't raining while I was waiting," he insisted, carrying the sheet over to Anise and offering it to her. "Please don't feel bad, Anise."
