Summary: Between the last Shift and the heart shard mess, the Titans decide that a break is in order. (If anyone asks, it's a team-building exercise.)
Rating: PG! Probably.

Summer's almost over and some people haven't been to the beach even once yet! It's practically a crime. But fortunately, it's not too late to fix that, and after relatively recent events, now definitely wasn't a bad time for the Titans to take a trip to the beach. Most of them could use the break, some are just looking for a chance to have fun, and others... might just need a little sunlight. Just maybe.

Either way, today's a great day to spend at the beach. The sun shines bright, and sure, there's not much of a breeze, but the water is nice and cool—absolutely perfect for swimming. Hopefully, everyone brought swimsuits and towels because no one's leaving here without going in the water. Oh, and don't forget sunscreen. Definitely don't forget sunscreen. Have some snacks, play some games, bury each other in the sand— whatever it is you decide to do, though, just make sure you have fun!

I wish I could say she was exaggerating, but he said the same thing. The entire floor's supposed to be bugged. He said it's probably one of the most secure place in Luceti.

[And that should be a good thing, but. No, it's mostly just weird.]

Somehow I don't feel so secure. [He stuffs his face full of chips and chews thoughtfully. Hmmm...] So. He's probably already figured out my real name already. He tell you what it is?

Did you forget who you were talking to? [...actually, that's probably a bad question, but he keeps grinning anyway.] What can I say? A kid's got a lot of free time around here. But don't worry, we're pretty good about keeping secrets.

Uh, well good. I mean, I know Batman's secret identity. And Alfred. But I uh, never exactly got yours. At least until here, anyway.

[Though for some reason, his Robin never seemed like a 'Jason' to him.]

["Jason" is way too cool for him anyway.]

Really? Even Alfred? [He's okay with that, at least, because Alfred is always awesome.] Hey, I guess that's not so bad. I mean, I probably wouldn't know as much as I do if it weren't for Batman.

[He nods.]

Having a mentor is pretty cool. I had to figure it out by myself.

[And... well, he's done well. But he sometimes wishes he had someone around to show him the ropes early on.]

I'd be lying if I said it wasn't pretty neat. [Actually, that's probably an understatement. Even despite everything, he thought Batman was amazing.] But the freedom must be great. And besides, figuring things out yourself can be pretty rewarding, too.

Freedom? I've got a curfew.

[The Robins don't have curfews! Of course, Batman works the night, so...]

Hey, don't feel bad. I can still get grounded. Technically.

[But goodness knows how well that goes.]

Yeah, but you probably get grounded for normal stuff. Or... grounded for not being stealthy enough? I get grounded for fighting crime.

Parents don't approve? [He looks so amused.] I guess they'd have to be crazy to be okay with what we do.

Or... they'd have to know... what you're doing.

I would say that whatever they don't know won't hurt 'em, but I guess that's not entirely true.

My pops doesn't. Neither does my sister. [He swallows and looks away.] ... I told my mom, though. Just before I showed up here.

[The gesture doesn't go unnoticed, but Jason knows better than to ask. He instead decides to help out by taking the focus off of him. He could talk about it if he wanted to, but Jason wouldn't force it.]

If mine knew, they never would've approved. [Of course, he did a lot of things they'd never have approved of.] I bet my friends would've loved it, though.

Up until the part the bad guys used them as bait to lure you and Batman in.

That's why we keep secrets, I guess. [Well, he doesn't guess, he knows.] But all my closest friends are heroes, too, so I've never really had to worry about telling anyone.

My buddy knows. He ended up as a superhero too. But I have a lot of friends at school who don't. And a lot of them are still normal. Which sometimes feels like it's pretty rare in Dakota City.

It's probably a good thing, but I bet it must be hard on 'em. It's weird being the only normal one around sometimes.

You're not counting yourself as the normal one, right? I mean, I know you've got no powers, but dressing up in a mask at night? That's not normal.
