A short time ago, in a farm-house not so far away...
Who: The Skywalker Family, immediate and extended and any close friends.
What: An evening with the family
When: August 4th
Where: Skywalker Ranch...or...something
Summary: Luke and Ami bring everyone over for a Sunday thing.
Rating: H is for Heartwarming
It's a bit of a monthly tradition, and has been for some time. The first Sunday of every month is the day the entire family gets together for an afternoon and has a nice dinner. Some might call the family a bit old fashioned, but it's just something that they do and have for as long as any of them can recall. It's never a fancy thing, but then does it really need to be? It's about the warm, fuzzy feeling of being surrounded by relatives and friends, sitting out on the porch and watching fireflies, and relaxing.
Food's been left to the people who can actually cook, because let's face it: Luke takes after his mother and Grandma Padme was not known for her fried chicken. But there's plenty of it. Chairs are set up on the large back porch so the weather can be enjoyed and tea along with a cooler of glass-bottled Coca-Colas, a bit of a splurge for the end of summer.
Everything's set to be a fairly nice afternoon and evening, provided the mosquitoes aren't too bad anyway.

During the dinners he makes it a point to spend a little time talking to everyone, because that was the reason behind all of this, wasn't it?
He can be found pretty much anywhere except the kitchen...because he's been barred from "helping" by the rest after the great turkey fiasco. Grab him on the porch with the others, setting up the table, outside playing catch, or anywhere in between.

It's still a comfortable way to pass the time, though, especially when he and Luke have the chance to play together.

"Right back at you, Chouji."
Luke's return toss is pretty quick, but not really all that practiced.

Having caught the ball, he snaps another throw toward Luke. "I'm glad the game wasn't today. I wouldn't have wanted to miss seeing the whole family."
The dance, of course, is tonight, but Chouji doesn't need too long to get ready. If the homecoming game had been the same day rather than already over and done with, Chouji would have had to choose.

"You played good out there, you know? You're a lot like dad. He was good at football."
He'll toss it back with a bit more force.

Tossing the football back, he says, "I know I've been busy the past month or so. I hope I haven't been missing too much work around the farm. You'd tell me, right?"

As he throws it back, he thinks of another conversation he's had recently on the subject of the farm, and says hesitantly, "Hey, Luke?"

"Luke! It's been a while!"

"It has been a while! It's great to see you Daisy, how've you been?"
no subject
"I've... been well." To say she has been continued to live her comfortable life, ignoring the many thoughts regarding her own life that had followed her with the realization she would be forced to marry someone after her studies end. "I saw Trisha a little while ago, but I haven't seen you in a while."
Daisy looks around, seeking for a chair that could at least serve her height more comfortably than usual, but among the portable chairs, she has to settle on one of them she walks towards.
"Can I sit?"
no subject
"So, what've you been doing all summer? Your studies are going well, right? You werent' working this summer, just taking off for the fall?"
no subject
Upon taking a more comfortable seat, she straightens, putting her hands over her knees beneath her dress. "I... had to study a little in preparation for my last semester." Not working this summer. Instead, she had been prepared socially for what was coming. "But... I also went out seeing a few people. Suitors."
None of which pleased her.

She knows little on how to respond to this. Her hand moves up to her arm, diverting her eyes.
"I... I need to see more people. For my family. I can't be single for long."

Too early, the back of Daisy's mind speaks, but too late, her life says.
