It's a bit of a monthly tradition, and has been for some time. The first Sunday of every month is the day the entire family gets together for an afternoon and has a nice dinner. Some might call the family a bit old fashioned, but it's just something that they do and have for as long as any of them can recall. It's never a fancy thing, but then does it really need to be? It's about the warm, fuzzy feeling of being surrounded by relatives and friends, sitting out on the porch and watching fireflies, and relaxing.

Food's been left to the people who can actually cook, because let's face it: Luke takes after his mother and Grandma Padme was not known for her fried chicken. But there's plenty of it. Chairs are set up on the large back porch so the weather can be enjoyed and tea along with a cooler of glass-bottled Coca-Colas, a bit of a splurge for the end of summer.

Everything's set to be a fairly nice afternoon and evening, provided the mosquitoes aren't too bad anyway.

Trisha lets out a laugh at the action, before half-turning to return her elder brother's hug. She's missed Luke and Chouji, too. It's not the same without all of her family around...although all of them living together just wouldn't be practical.

"Just like." Her smile went a little softer at the mention of their parents. She misses them, too. "I'm sure they'd be having just as much fun as we are, if they were still here."

Sorry, being out of town blows...

Luke nods, tightening the hug a brief instant before letting go.

"Yeah. Dad always liked grilling outside, and at least your a better cook than mom, sis. I think they'd really have liked all this."

He turns to look out at the fields.

"How are things on your end, with the shop?"

"Well, thank you. I do try to cook well." That's a bit of a laugh - and really, Padme's cooking...well.

Trisha turns with her elder brother to look out at the fields, a smile on her face. "They're all right. Even with things as they are, people need groceries."

And at least some of them could pay for them, although...

"Well, yeah. But if you need something..." Luke trails off, a note of concern in his voice. "You'll let me know, right? We've got plenty here, for the four of us."

That concern gets another smile, although she pats his arm, reassuringly. "Of course I will, Luke. For Hohenheim and the children...I'd do everything I could, if we needed anything. But we're doing fine, honestly; though I do wonder sometimes if Edward won't manage to blow up the shop..."

"Oh? How did he manage that?" Sounds like quite a story...

"Another chemistry experiment, I'm afraid. I can't pretend to know the details, but..." Because she was not a chemist. But you know - explosions, and she was worried about him.

"Well, at least he's applying himself to something. Better that than laying around or out causing trouble in the streets I guess. Maybe he'll get a career out of it too."

"I hope so, as well. The only thing I worry about is his safety, and as long as he gets good enough to stop the explosions, well...I have no complaints." Even if he didn't make much, although she'd like Edward to make enough to keep himself in clothes and home after she and Hohenheim passed.

"I've got faith he will. After all, look at his mom." Luke grins, giving Trisha a squeeze on the shoulder. "And how are things around the school? Are Edward's grades staying above the curve?"

"He finished with them so far ahead I honestly hadn't the slightest idea what to do. We haven't the money to send him anywhere really good, though I think we can swing something, but...I do think schools in general can't tell him anything he doesn't know at this point." She gives a wry grin.

"Well, he only has a couple of semesters left, right?"

"He's actually finished, I think. It's Artemis who has a ways to go."
