Summary: It's "An Evening Under the Stars"! Teens swing and bop and find true love. Adults less so. It's sure to be a memorable night!

The Luceti Valley High School gym has been decked to the nines by the Homecoming committee. The theme for the evening, "An Evening Under the Stars", is evident everywhere from the ambient lighting to the snack table. Banners, balloons, streamers, and colored lights decorate the area, turning the usually musty, jock-filled gym into a warm and colorful space to invite romance. A multicolored balloon arch welcomes attendees to their ballroom for the evening, where they can find a few different events to participate in.

There's the dance floor, naturally, a wide space covering most of the room and teeming with new flames and old flames alike. The band is set up on the stage against the wall, playing all the hottest tunes of the age so students can "Rock Around the Clock" all night long. There will be a fair distribution of fast, swinging songs and slower couples songs. Snag your date for those, or maybe ask someone new!

Aside from the dancing, there are refreshments set up for students and chaperones alike along the wall opposite the band. There you can find your usual school dance fare: "midnight" blue punch, star-shaped cookies and brownies, a nighttime sky cake, and, well? That's it. Looks like the PTA fell a bit short this year.

In the corner near the entrance is the photo booth, where couples can pose against a star-filled background for (overpriced) photographs so they will never forget this night of nights. In the opposite corner of the room, there is yet another door, normally an emergency exit but now used as a gateway to a small outside space where attendees can find fresh air and a bit of privacy. Lights, benches and balloons decorate this area as well.

The night promises to be memorable for all. Whether that's for better or for worse remains to be seen!

Yes, my nephew? [He says with a grin as he adjusts his glasses. They gleam.]

[...he's caught. He knows that much. But the question was, could he trust his Uncle to keep quiet about it? He wasn't so sure. Jade was always such a difficult man to read.]

[But scruples about same-sex couples aside, at least Kohan was of a social standing that Jade could appreciate?]

...please don't say anything about this to anyone. We're not ready for anyone to know yet.

[It's true. Homosexuality truly isn't as much of a problem for him as cross-class relationships would be. It might not cause as much of a scandal. But just in case? It's more useful for him to hold onto it. He and Nephry are at odds, after all. So it's good to have leverage.]

Feel free to take your time. Consider it to be a good practice for your future. You'll most likely need to bury many a scandal in your future, after all.

This isn't something I plan on burying. [He says it just a bit too quickly, and perhaps even a bit defensively. He and Kohan were serious... or at least, Ion was. They hadn't talked about it too much, but... Kohan was serious too, right? Otherwise surely he wouldn't go to the effort of sneaking around so much just to see him, right?]

Is that so? My, then I expect it will be quite the show when you decide to truly take it public. [It's amusing how defensive he is of it. It puts Jade at ease.]

[Uncle Jade certainly had a way with words, didn't he? There was nothing particularly nasty in what he said, and yet the words stung in ways he didn't anticipate nonetheless.]

[But Ion knew there would be no point in arguing further. He can only hope he's done enough damage control to prevent things from becoming any worse.]
