Luceti Valley - The Second Log

Luceti Valley continued in its own merry little way. The rich got richer, the poor got poorer. A new tax hike had ensured increasing animosity between both groups, despite the protests of the every charitable Lord Mayor. But on the sixth day, something happens and people begin to notice things are unusual. Idle thoughts that if thought about too much is bound to get you a visit to the police station for an hour or so. Or worse, it may just get you committed.

Meanwhile, the asylum continues to gain more and more patients. Those that are trapped there will find escaping difficult, but there may be more to this place than they first assumed...

On the tenth, battle breaks out across Luceti Valley. People begin to exhibit powers and abilities they didn't know they had. The police begin rounding up these people to lock up. If they resist, its bound to come to blows. Even though no one has regained their memories of their true self yet, it becomes apparent that some trickery is afoot, even if they might not know the source or why.


Note: This is the second log! There will be a third and final event log for the aftermath. There will also be two separate logs specifically for finding John and defeating Zompano. For those of you that signed up, we'll be randomizing the results and replying to the selected characters later tonight. In the meantime, keep enjoying the event! I don't think I could throw people through two buildings...but if you say so.

[The compliments are reassuring, and she smiles weakly in return. Maybe a little positivity wouldn't hurt after all. It certainly wouldn't make it any worse, at least.]

You looked like a real samurai, you know. It was beautiful. Like when we watched Throne of Blood last week. You were as graceful as the heroine.

I wasn't that good. It definitely doesn't beat you calling down lightning and frying a few of them. That freaked me out. Well, you know, not in a bad way, just...well, I didn't expect it!

[windandrain]

Yes you were, don't sell yourself short. Lady Deathstrike, that's what they should call you.

[No, no they really shouldn't name you after an X-Man...]

And I don't know where the lightning came from! It just...comes when I call.

[sun_showers]

I wish I was that cool. And I'm not evil! What are you trying to say!? [Said with a fake offensiveness, of course.] Well, if any more of those guys come you should call it because I'm too exhausted to move. [And still shaking a little.]

[windandrain]

Did I say you were evil?

[She turns around, resting her head against Yuuna's shoulder now.]

I will. We'll be okay. [She blinks] I don't even feel tired, really.

[sun_showers]

You were the one who called me Lady Deathstrike! Then, if you're not tired you should carry me home.

[Being lazy is awesome.]

[windandrain]

Would that we could. [Her eyes look up the sky] Darling, I don't think that we're finished here, today. I have a feeling that when this storm breaks, things will be radically different.

[sun_showers]

[Her cheerfulness falls, slumping a little, knowing that she was right.]

Yeah...I wonder what's going to happen. To us, this city, everything...

And when will it end? I don't know if I've got it in me to continue to kill people day in and day out. It's already bad enough what we've done already. I don't want to fight a war, Saori. [She trembles at the thought, looking back down at her bloodstained hand.]

[windandrain]

I...[she breaks off, wrapping a hand around her wife's waist] I know you don't. I don't either. But I think...at least that if there is a war, it will be short. After today, you won't have to fight anymore.

[She kisses Yuuna gently on the cheek] I promise that. I don't know what's going on, but I know I can keep us safe. All of us. And no matter what, we'll be together. I know that.

[sun_showers]

I hope you're right. [She lays her hand on the one around her waist, leaning heavily against her companion.]

I still want that cute house. After this blows over I am going to decorate everything. Absolutely everything. [It would take her mind off of the death around them. Hopefully.]

[windandrain]

After this is over? I'll buy you a dozen cute houses to decorate. We'll need them, with all the relaxing we're going to do.

[That much is a certain. Twining her fingers through Yuuna's, she nods again.]

We just have to make it through.

[sun_showers]

[She takes another deep breath, trying to let herself relax.] You're right. But...what should we do now? We can't sit here for the rest of the day.

[windandrain]

We need to rest, get our strength back, and then find out what's going on. What do you think, who or...what...could be behind this?

[sun_showers]

[She thinks for second.] Considering that all we've been doing is fighting the cops around here? Probably someone who's in charge of them. The head of the police maybe? I don't know who that is though.

[windandrain]

I don't think there is a chief of police. [She looks up...] I think the mayor has direct control...

[sun_showers]

He does? Well that would be the first person I'd confront. Well, I wouldn't but someone should.

[windandrain]

It should be us. It's only right, that we do something about this.

[sun_showers]

[That makes her a little nervous. She's not really keen on that idea, but she's not going to let Saori do this alone.]

I don't even know where to find him. Especially in this chaos.

[windandrain]

[Saori's not really sure she wants to drag Yuuna into this, either. But she can't exactly say that.]

We'll find him. Probably at the center of it all. Or at his house.

[sun_showers]

I guess we're going to have to go looking then. [And then she'll let Saori do all the talking.] I hope we can find him without getting stopped, I just don't want to fight another horde of men.

[windandrain]

Yes, but let's rest a few more minutes. You need to get your strength back.

[She nods and renews the hug with new vigor.]

I've got no desire to fight again either. Hopefully we can talk him down.

[sun_showers]

I hope so. I just don't understand why he'd order the police force out like he has. If he's even the one in charge. I don't know...

[She returns the hug of course. Any comfort was welcome.]

[windandrain]

Something's been done to us. Otherwise, why are we having these new instincts? This...power? We should't, but it's like muscle memory. And he's always been an egotist, so maybe he's responsible.

[This was beginning to sound like one of Barnaby's comics...]

I've never understood it. Everyone just adores him so much, but he's really not all that special is he? He's just the mayor. Politicians are nothing but liars anyway. [She flexes her own hand. None of this made sense, not her new abilities, nothing at all. And in the face of this, it really wasn't a good time for her to turn tail and run and hide behind someone.]

[windandrain]

Liars and charlatans, yes. And Father wondered why I was never interested in politics. [She sniffs derisively] I say we go find him and demand some answers.
